Coming back on board the boards . .

Ok I have been MIA the last month or so (not really sure anyone noticed) but I am trying to get back in to the swing of things. I do not even want to try to catch up I am just going to jump in. Since my last visit . . .

Three of us have had strep throat

my hubby came home from Iraq for a visit

we found out he will be going back to Iraq after the cruise

we have continued working on our kitchen remodel

we have signed the contract to put in a swimming pool on the side of our hill :) which means retaining walls and such, and a well

Planned a trip to DC the first week in July

My daughter fell and broke her arm on Thursday and will have it casted on Monday

Found out Delta changed our flight so now we are getting in to Orlando 3 hours later and having to change planes (good thing it is not on the day of the cruise)

Found out Delta is restricting luggage to one checked piece per person unless you pay as of May 1 - no execptions but at least American is not so we can ship items to Orlando with a suitcase and check them coming back

Found out a friend has 4-6 months to live with cancer

And I still need to:

Make my ballroom skirt
Make our fish extender
make packing lists
order matching t-shirts
do my taxes
get down suit cases
decide on what we are wearing on the cruise
and lots more . . . . .

But this is a quick update - I know others have had some major things going on and I am keeping you in my prayers - I know others have bigger problems than me - I am blessed even with my bumps in the road . . .

Tammy it's ok to have some bad days......I have had a very weepy month.....I cry at the slightest little thing and at everything. I lost my mom eight months ago and have been feeling it the worst recently. I think because this month is Greek Easter and that was a huge celebration in my family with mom. This will be my first without her during it and it will never be the same again. Then we have the first mother's day coming up right after Greek Easter. I am soooooooo going to need this cruise. It can't get here fast enough. It's been a hard four years that my mom had been sick.....while I was in shock and going through the motions I was fine. I was relieved that she wasn't suffering anymore. Now.....I'm jello, I can't stop crying. It hurts and I miss her. It's so much harder now than when it happened.

John, you said the same thing about losing your mom. It's so much harder now a year later than it was when it happened. Every little thing is a memory and it comes flooding back and you feel your loss.

Just this morning I had to go get a blood test and drive by mom's block for the first time since it all happened. I immediately burst out in tears. It's everything all around me that reminds me of her and the fact that it's the first time in my life that she's not here.

It will get worse before it gets better and it's ok. But it will get better!

So Tammy you are in good company here. It's ok. Just cry! Feel what you're feeling and let it out! We are all here to share with you and help.

e.l.f. on drugstore.com is $1 as well.
can this game end already so I can watch the Bachelor?
Go Memphis!

OH GROSS! I'm watching the news and they just said not to be alarmed if we see rusty water for a while from our faucets. :scared: They said the city will be flushing out the pipes and it will be rusty from 4am to midnight for 3 months! What the ????? Bottled water for us for a while I guess. I'm hoping they had their information wrong because in other cities I've lived, they do this once a month and it's a day or 2 of rusty water. Not 3 months. Doesn't sound accurate.

I think we might wear our Panama Canal t-shirts for the DIS photo. For a family reunion, each family unit wore the same color t-shirt. The photo was pretty cool.

MIL, along with us, decided this wasn't the trip for her. I really appreciate all the advice and support. Although I'm sure it would have been a great trip for her, there were so many unique factors that made it very iffy for us. Thank you all.

So many are going through some hard times right now. A big  and prayers for healing and peace.

Planning galore! Gydell, we want to tag along with you all if it is still an option in ACA. We have our lunch reservations at 1:30pm. I think that works at well! In Aruba, our parents are going to get us a day pass at their Marriott timeshare. In PV & Cabo, we have a hotel room booked at a Starwood hotel. Kids can swim in the pool, play in the beach. I can order fruitty drinks.

Castaway Cay - we will get there early and hang on at the family beach.

SPA - we are going to TRY to make the Couple Villa work out. Depends on cash flow. I have it in the budget now. Also have a Rasual booked. We will probably do one or the other.

PHOTOS - budgeted for the big package of 6x8, and then I think about 10 of the 8x10.

LIMO/VAN - We will have a van or limo pick us up at 9am at the Hyatt. Hope to get a 3 or 4, although if we get our group Palo brunch, no need to rush on that account. That will be great.

POOLS and kids: I respect all the advice. Kim, sorry to hear about your brother. That must have been very traumatic. Our big issue is sometimes the kids may want to split up and be at different pools, and if I'm on my own I can't be at both the Mickey & Goofy pool at the same time. I am leaning towards having the 10 & 8 year old be able to swim together, but only after I check out the pool activity. If it looks crazy at all, then no go. I'm hoping there will be less children on this sailing, so might not be as crazy as normal. Think this is wishful thinking?

FISH EXTENDERS: We are ordering some iron-on decals now. Ian, thanks for posting that info weeks ago.

STAR TESTING: GET THIS! After over a year of dealing with missing STAR testing, they just changed the dates of testing and now my kids will be there! Crazy! Oh well. I still am insisting (not sure if I have the "right" to or not) on no homework. Both boys are doing well, mostly As (2nd grader gets very few "grades"), and I don't want to have them stress about homework. Luckily, the teachers agree.

Ok, that is all my planning for now. Back to reading!

Ladeis and Gents who are having Brunch in the Palo private room. (maybe)

The final lists have been sent to DCL and we are awaiting confirmation of the dates provided to us for the Private room. FINGERS CROSSED EVERYONE!

Once confirmation is recieved, Contacts this should come to you, I will post the lists on the website.

Pj

PJ thank you so much for picking this up!! I hope we all get something!!

Hello everyone. Back from the doctor. I have no time to chat right now but I did ask the doctor about the shots and she sad no shots needed. The kids get Hep A at 1, 2, in between 4 and 6 and again in between 8 and 10. I aked her about the adults and she said she didn't think they were needed. The need for tetnus shots are not any greater in Mexico than here.

thanks, I had the feeling they we're covered under normal shots for us in USA

With Richards gone I don't think it will be a problem.

As for the playoffs... Well the Canucks imploded pretty much like I figured they would. Interesting a friend of mine e-mailed my prediction back in June 2007 for the Canucks this year and I nailed it. I had said that they would ride Luongo too much and unless they picked up some grit and scoring they would have a hard time scoring goals to get them into the playoffs. So if I could have predicted that back in June 2007, why couldn't the Canucks managment and coaching see it too?? It was so sad to see Trevor Linden go out like that.

This year I am hoping for Calgary (my longshot and mainly because I really like Jarome Iginla as he is a class act), and Montreal (Carey Price is from down the road in Williams Lake and I think it woudl be great for the Habs to win while the Leafs are golfing - what can I say? I'm from the West, TO is a swear word out here...).

When we lived in Calgary we loved going to the Saddledome to see the Flames play (especially if the Flyers were in town :thumbsup2 - born and raised in the Phila area)

Here is a report most don't want to hear. While I was at Hooters eating tonight I saw a girl with lime green hair (it was not a wig). I know what you're thinking, why didn't I get a picture. If I would have had one more drink Cindy would have asked that girl to take a picture with her like she was a celeb. The other bad thing is that Jon is all stuffed up and started feeling spacey after one beer so he wasn't pushing me to be stupid like he usually does. I had a good time with myself. I wish you guys could have seen it or me anyway!

I guess many of you remember 8 tracks too. That should make the young ones saying "What?"
Yup! I can still remember some of the 8-track tapes my dad had in his pickup truck. Elvis, Johnny Cash, Loretta Lynn. :lmao:
