The "Mexican Train Game" dominoes are so much fun, but highly addicting.
Lisa, if you bring it, Mrs. Woody and I would love to play.

This reminds me. I've read somewhere this week that the Jacksons have bought a house in Devon, here in the United Kingdom. Of all the places in the world, why Devon?![]()
Smart Car Day!
We were up bright and early this morning to go and pick up Mrs. Fezziwig, our "orphan" Smart Car.
The people who originally ordered Mrs. Fezziwig, decided that they really wanted a Cabriolet model which is a convertible. However, they were too late as the build process had started and she was delivered.
They decided they didn't want Mrs. Fezziwig and preferred to wait for a convertible.
Oddly enough, she is nearly identical to the car I ordered, with the exception of missing 2 small options I had wanted. I was facing a 12 month wait, so I opted to "adopt" Mrs. Fezziwig.
Took much longer than I thought it would at the dealer, but we said goodbye to the 1998 Subaru Forester, and drove Mrs. Fezziwig off.
We did a bit of shopping today and I was a bit unprepared to have drawn so much attention to us with people honking at us.
At one point at an intersection, we quite literally stopped traffic.
I did not grow up with cars. My father never knew how to drive a car. As a child, in my entire family only 1 person knew how to drive a car, my aunt.
I did not learn how to drive until I was 28 and moved to Chicago for a job. The job entailed flying around the country, visiting customers and setting up their back office mini-computer systems.
When I was hired, no one ever bothered to ask me if I knew how to drive or not.
In a space of 3-weeks I got my learner's permit, took a flurry of driving lessons (I actually learned how to drive in Chinatown in NYC), got my Illinois License and bought a car.
Because I did not grow up with cars, they have never meant very much to me.
This is the first time I have ever bought the exact car I wanted. The really funny thing is, that for me, Mrs. Fezziwig, is a "sporty" car. Maybe I'm having a mid-life crisis.
Consequently, I am just not used to driving a car that draws any attention from anyone.
Here are some photos of us with Mrs. Fezziwig:

It is a type of Whisky made from rye grain. Usually made in Canada and the US. In the US there is a law that it has to be made with content that is at least 51% rye. In Canada there is no such law. Some have been made with as little as 10%. Some popular Canadian Rye brands internationally are Canadian Club (often referred to as CC), and Crown Royal. I tend to drink Wiser's Deluxe.
Don't get it confused with Scotch Whisky. That is yet a different type of whisky. My Scottish ancestors are probably rolling over in their graves, but I'm not fussy on Scotch. I find it has a real bite that doesn't sit well with me.
John - I like your taste in musical.
Anyone have concert t-shirts? We all could wear them one night. At the pub crawl? Woody
I think you are taller by miles....
My first Rolling Stones concert was in the mid-70's, and I've tried to see them on every tour since. They are just exhilarating.
James Taylor is another favorite. I first saw him on the Gorilla tour ("How Sweet It Is," "Mexico"). I really like the melodies and harmonies of some of his later work ("You Are The Only One"). Earlier this year, he and Carole King had some benefit shows at the Troubadour, a tiny venue. I tried to get tickets, but missed out. I'll see JT in July.
I've seen Jackson Browne about 25 times. He's an extremely talented songwriter, and his words speak volumes. Woody
Not "old" -- they're "classic."I have a box of them from Heart to Led Zepplin! OLD.
OH, MY! it's terrible here, windy, stormy, raining cats and dogs! what a difference 100 miles can make!well we came in to get out of the sun for a while. it is gorgeous out...breezy enough to enable you to sit in the sun without having to jump in the pool every 20 minutes!
so cute! weird to see you all in winter clothes while we are running around in swimsuits!
We're actually wearing light clothing ... for us!
.
and I thought it had to do with bread?!Ken, you're such an old fashioned guy. I remember that my father drank both scotch and rye. When I mention rye, most people have never heard of it.
