For any of you that have them to spare, my brother could use some prayers his way . . .

He found out that he has a mass in his colon, and on Sunday he will have surgery to have part of his colon removed. While pathology results are not yet back, I think they are pretty sure it is cancer. The only question is whether or not it is localized or has spread, and whether or not it is treatable beyond the surgery. My brother is 5 years younger than me - only 42.

Tomorrow I'll be taking my dad to the hospital to see him - we have not told dad yet all that is going on.

Amy and I talked tonight, and we have had family illness and hardship follow us on our last cruises. My mom passed away the week of our last cruise with the Geeks, right before we left. We had a funeral and left the same day. Now my brother's illness, and I can only pray that they have caught it in time.

Thanks for letting me share. It has not been very happy around here lately, and my thoughts are with all the rest of you who have had family and friends illness and worse to deal with . . .

John I am so sorry to hear about your brother. Your family will be in our prayers.:grouphug:

I went to check my ressie with DCL and the page where you get your ressie is down. Did WE break it???

My first concert was Madonna at the Bill Graham Civic Center in SF in 1984....I wore alot of lace including gloves and had dangly earrings, and a headband. IT WAS AWESOME!!!

The first of many times I've see Madonna in Concert...Can't wait until Hard Candy comes out this month!

My first concert was Grand Funk Railroad at She Stadium in 1971.

I guess WE might have!!!

Marilyn can you see your ressie info on the DCL site?

I could earlier and was STILL GTY, but will go have another look.

I wonder why it won't let me see it? Maybe I have checked too much and they have banned me!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: They're going to shove you in that haunted Cat 4 where everyone disappears from.:rotfl2:

I think parenting Teenages is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier than parenting babies. I love babies......but I really love teenagers......

I can remember wanting to run away many more than once when all the kids were little....Daniel was always my savior......I just love that kid (Okay, I love all of them.....:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes )

HHHmmmm. Obviously you did not have one of my teenagers living in your house. Our middle child was a challenge to say the least.

Speaking of magnets...

I just found these:
http://www.magnacard.com/

They are business card peel'n'stick magnets. This way you can print them out using Word on just regular paper and then stick them on the magnets. These seem to be better than the Avery sheets I had used in the past because if there was an error in the print job (off kilter, bad ink, etc.) you wasted a whole sheet of the magnets. These are also a lot cheaper. Here in Canada I found them at Staples for $30 for 50 magnets.

Lots more room for error is a good thing. Now I haven't actually tried them out yet but already they seem better than what I have used in the past.

Ken,

You must have missed my arts and crafts show.

These are good (I booked marked it), but my suggestion was cheaper if not free. If you don't go the velcro route a glue stick work just fine with magnetic business cards cut in half or thirds.

I have a stack of magnetic business cards, that I've gotten from businesses (we're also throwing out old ones a my company with an out dated logo).

Doing it this way, the cost could be as high as, .05 for the velcro, or $1.50 for the glue stick.

I haven't allocated the cost of the paper.

Gydell, we're still GTY. You must have been benned, or else you are going to get a 1!!!!!!!;)

Kathe-:grouphug: I'm sorry. I'm glad you get to see your grandchild though.

Deborah- :grouphug: Try not to feel guilty about not visiting there was no way to know. I felt the same way when my DGMa passed she was my favorite grandparent and it was not an easy flight from AZ to PR or cheap with two young kids and when I looked into it it was too late even for the funeral...I still feel guilty:sad2: Just need to realize there was no way of knowing.

Angie:grouphug:looking forward to seeing you home and back on the DIS soon.

Ken- glad your wife started posting.... "Hi" Welcome to the DIS

Seems I've missed abit. I'll just be on here briefly today and tomorrow, so someone needs to fill me in on Monday.

How is this middle child now Angie?

Personally we both enjoyed our childrens' pre teen and early teen years the best. I'm not that good with young children even now.

Tomorrow is the day.

I pick up Mrs. Fezziwig. Very excited.

I did have to spend some quality time calming down Mrs. Bennett.

The toaster is feigning indifference, and the vacuum cleaner still just su... well let's not go there.

.

Hopefully your toilets still flush. ;)

Good night everyone!

John, I am so sorry to hear this. Dennis and I will, of course, keep your family in our hearts and prayers.
