To Katypop and taysmom --

Before our original thread was "hidden," we were posting about meeting at Epcot the day before the cruise.

DW and I will be there Friday 5/9, and hope to see some of the International Garden and Flower Festival. Perhaps we could meet for lunch, or just a brief meet and greet. Looking forward to meeting you in person before the cruise!

Anyone else going to Epcot on Friday?

Woody

I have DirecTV satellite television and I have local broadcast channels for New York and PA and LA.....so I've been watching the LA news broadcasts to study names and places in CA. I'm just getting a feel for where I'm going to be.

Good idea. After the cruise, you'll be here: RedondoBeachMarina

We're going to play it by ear. I'd love to say yes to a meet, but it's my dd's 1st time at WDW and my 1st time in 20years! We have alot of ground to cover in 2 days. I was looking at the hours of operation and am very dissappointed that the parks are not open later. The earliest is 9am and latest is 9pm. I've been very spoiled by CA as even disneyland is open until 10 during the low times! Geez, were going down to disney in March and they are open until midnight...wdw isn't. I find that odd!

So I just entered the virtual thing. I was trying to keep up on the chat..but it is flying by...too hard to read.

Thanks Woody.....I love that link. I'm definitely doing the ocean racer. Do I want to go whale watching? What are my chances of seeing any late May? If so, what kind will I see?

I noticed on the site that it's not a good time for whale watching. But I wanted to know about the Gondola rides....at sunset with champagne.....sounds romantic. Are they worth it?

Hi Woody,
I am going to AK in the AM and dining at Yak & Yeti at noon for lunch, new restaurant at AK so I would really like to check it out. I've read the food is so-so but the decor is supposed to be quite interesting, so I am looking forward to giving it a try. I will be going to Epcot after lunch, would love to meet up, so let me know what works for you and your DW :)

Kathe- Will & I ate at Yak & Yeti a while ago and we enjoyed it. Will definately be going back.

As for whale watching, I would wait until you arrive in L.A. then call the tour operator to see what sightings they have had in the last few days.

During our morning walks, it is not uncommon to see dolphins and sea lions from the beach.

I'm baaaaack! ;) Had a wonderful time with Bobby at the jewelry show. All the other guests loved him! And Tyler & I had a blast at Chuck E. Cheese because they remodeled and expanded the one here and have TONS of new games. One is a roller coaster simulator that really shakes and jerks you around...Very fun! I was dizzy when we got off that one! Tyler was so happy to see Bobby and had lots of fun with him! Nothing but big smiles and laughter tonight! I'll upload a bunch of pics to Bobby's thread after catching up with the 10 pages here that I missed since this afternoon. :goodvibes

Holly, sounds like a fun night for everyone:goodvibes

Oh, I'm glad to hear this:) What did you have to eat?

We shared a "Yak Attack" drink (yummy, but don't remember what was in it). Appetizers - me - steamed dumplings, Will - Pork egg rolls
Entree - we shared the Honey Chicken w/ Jasmine rice.

No dessert.

There are things there that I want to try next time.

Holly...you are a strong woman. I don't know if I could be as positive as you through all this. I admire your strength. Just make me more excited to meet you, tyler and everyone else on this thread and the old one.
Thanks Steph, but I'm not really that strong. Just doing what I have to get through for Tyler's sake. He deserves all the support he can get from everybody in his life.

OH!!!!! Here's something exciting (and shocking)! Tyler's dad bought him "Hooked on Phonics"! The man who is always in complete denial about everything regarding Tyler. And he's actually been working on it with Tyler too, rather than plunking him down in front of a movie in the living room. I was so shocked! Although he can only manage to focus on it for about 10 minutes at a time, Tyler's VERY EXCITED about it and wanted to bring it to our house to continue practicing. I'm so happy about his excitement because he was starting to get so frustrated with trying to learn. His teacher recently sent home a certificate from Red Robin for a free kids meal after he reads 10 books. He can't even read a word, let alone one book. 10 books would have been impossible for him. So I told him we'd count the books in his Hooked on Phonics kit towards that total and he was pretty happy about that. :cool1:

We were in Venice, Italy not long ago. So I'm biased. (How's that for full disclosure.)

We walked past a gondola in Redondo Beach last weekend and did not think very much of it. Plus, the harbor is not picturesque for such a ride.

If you want to go on a gondola ride, and are going to Las Vegas after L.A., I would recommend the gondolas at the Venetian hotel. Sure, it's touristy, but it would be in canals among a picturesque Venice-type setting (think "Epcot").

That's great news about the Hooked on Phonics! I've heard really great things about that program. There is hope for your ex after all:rotfl2:

So, did Bobby help model any of the jewelry?

I can't say anything about the gondolas in CA but I have seen the ones at the Venetian, and as Woody said - I'd do it there. Even though it is touristy (but I'm sure it is in CA, and it is definately in Venice) you'll have more of that Italian atmosphere at the Venetian.

He is not wimpering in fear--he is a GOOD SPORT. What he is doing is wheezing a bit as a result of the COLD WEATHER he experienced here and at your house.

Good luck on finding the leak. I had no success and tried several times. Will you put him in the bathtub perhaps? and if you find it, what kind of bandaid will you use?

Let us know how the party goes!
Did anyone do a DCL party? How did that work? I had no idea how to get involved in the one in Indy--no contact info or anything......:confused3
Jan :earsgirl:
I did find a leak. Did the bathtub procedure. When I actually knew where to look (above his left arm), the hole was big enough to see. I covered it with clear packing tape, so you can't even see the patch-up job. But there must be another tiny leak somewhere because he still needs to be rescued about every 2 hours. That's OK though because like you said, he's a good sport! :thumbsup2
