Guess what??

We brought Frank home from the hospital today!! He has been getting stronger every day since his last set back 12 days ago!!

The rehab people will come by 3 times a week and we will help him get outside to walk some.

Everyday he gets better and better.

Such a relief!!

Wow, good for you Monica:cheer2: Sorry your feet are so sore though. This was the week I was going to start back at the gym, since my back is so much better, but that just didn't happen:guilty: Thursday was the 6th anniversary of losing my DH though, so I think I should have known I wouldn't feel like doing too much, hopefully next week:confused3

  . I'm sorry Thursday was rough for you. Glad your back is treating you better. Don't push yourself though....can't have a setback, K?

Holly,
You and Tyler have been through so much, but the one bright side is that knowledge is power, and now that you are getting this information, you can deal with things so much better. One of the worst things is not knowing what is wrong, and feeling so helpless. Once you have identified a problem, you can start planning the best way to deal with it. I agree with the other poster that you seem like a very strong person, and able to tackle whatever you have to do. Tyler is lucky to have a Mom that who does so much. Vicki
Aww....thanks Vicki. But I'm just doing what needs to be done to get Tyler taken care of. I told him tonight about the letter I received from the health department about his hearing tests. I asked him if he hears better out of one ear over the other and he said, "I just don't hear 'good' at all, mom." :sad2: So I told him we'll have the doctor check that out when we go for the tingling hands & feet. He told me, "I have an idea: maybe I just have too much ear wax blocking my eardrum." I told him we'll just have to wait to see what the doctor says next week.

Lisa - that's fabulous news!! I'm sure he's very happy to be home w/ you, Don and the kids.

Hate to break it to you, but 15k and 2k annual giving is a good deal around these parts. In my area, the average non denominational private school is 17k for lowerschool and then it goes up. Average annual giving is about the same.

I have to ask this, and I am hoping no one takes offense, but my curiosity is just getting the better of me . . .

As a public school board member, I have to ask are the public schools in California or in this area so bad that someone is willing to pay what can amount to college tuition to send their children to school? I am just shocked by the expense, and wonder how it can be justified by those schools.

Private parochial school here is probably about 6k a year, and private non-denominational school is probably about 8k a year from what I am aware of. While there are some private schools that I know of in the vicinity that may be this expensive, they are private boarding schools, and there are just a handful in NE Ohio. I know of one only because the owner of our business sent one of his sons there.

I know we all want the best for our kids, and want to make sure that they have every opportunity we each can afford. My own experience has been that a good public school with involved parents provides a solid educational foundation for any future a child may wish to pursue.

Sorry you had a sad week.

Thanks Gydell - I hope the feet hold up too....I'm meeting my cousins from Argentina tomorrow at MGM (oops - sorry Disney Hollywood Studios).

EWWWW EWWWWW.....while you are there, could you go into the store that Karen was talking about that has men's cuff links and look for some good ones for John. PLEASE.......if you have a chance while with your cousins. I hope you all have a great time together.

I don't remember the name of the store that Karen said they had lots of them in, but as you're brousing around, maybe you'll see them. She did say that they were in the back of the store.

Thanks in advance! Have fun!

Holly, One of Daniel's eardrums did not develop until he was 6 years old. His was so bad, that he could hardly speak. Once it developed, his speech came right along. Hopefully, Tyler's will come along with age.

That was my plan :thumbsup2 I probably would have just met them for a meal if they were going to another park

So now guess what's happened. Poor Tyler just can't get a break. I shared this with Jan last night, but not here yet. It's not life threatening, but on top of everything else going on with Tyler at once, it just doesn't seem fair.

OK...I think I mentioned a while back that we found out that his vision has completely shifted in the last year from being very farsighted to very nearsighted, and we're waiting for his new lenses to come in. But wait, there's more. Towards the end of the week, I got a voice mail from the occupational therapist at Tyler's school telling me she's been evaluating him and strongly recommends private occupational therapy (in addition to the help they can give him at school) because he's very far behind on his fine motor skills and it has a major effect on trying to write, obviously. OK...his dad and I will work that out, she recommended some places locally (in a letter she sent home that day), we can take care of that.

But wait, there's more. Yesterday I got a letter from the county health department telling me they did THREE hearing tests on Tyler, one a week for three weeks (the multiples were to verify the poor readings), and he has a significant lack of hearing in his right ear. Like I said, not life threatening, but yet another trip to the doctor for follow up.

No wonder he's so frustrated when almost nothing works right on his body. I know it could be worse...because he is VERY healthy..doesn't even get colds almost every (one a year at most), but so many things shouldn't be going wrong all at once.

I'm going to do my best, to make sure he has an awesome time on this cruise because he sure does deserve it with all this crap being thrown at him.

Oh no! Poor little guy! He definetly deserves all the fun that he will have in the cruise.

Oh sure they were! It is fun to get your tummy all astir as long as you have big ol' John1 to grab onto!

:rotfl2:

Such nice and supporting words. Thank you very much. My DH is working today, but when he gets back I will talk to him. Maybe I could go with my MIL - my DH would love his mom to spend that much time with the kids....not sure how I would manage with 2 weeks of MIL!! Actually, she is pretty easy to travel with, although I have never gone anywhere with just her...the positive about that is I bet I could spend a lot of time with my DIS friends as she can hang with the kids!!

Well, at least you have 2 cabins booked, so she can sleep in one and you in the other, it could definetly be a lot worse.

Isn't someone else going for just part of the trip and getting off and flying home in ACA? Would your DH consider that?

DH is considering doing this if he changes work. Does anyone know if DCL will let another person takes his place if he leaves in Acapulco?

So a couple hours ago there is a knock at the door. A guy says he is trimming our neighbors trees and bushes. Wants to know if we want our yard done. Knowing what was coming from previous quotes (with a low of $1,700) I asked how much. He walks the property and says $350. SOLD!!!!

Imagine our yard is 14,ooo sq ft, which in AZ is a decent size. We have over 25 Queen Palms, 15 other types of Palms, 6 mexican birds of paradise, 14 hibiscus, 10 bougainvillea, at least 20 lantana, 22 creeping figs, probably 15 other various plants, and grass in the front, side and back yards (yes, sad that I know all the plants - but we put them all in). In other words, THIS GUY IS CRAZY!

WOW, let him get crazy and do your yard, lol.

They just said that repo cruises are usually a good deal (not too expensive). I guess this must have been filled before DCL did the 1st PC cruise in 2005

:lmao:

Does she speak Spanish, will it be a bilingual daycare? (j/k)
Julie, I keep forgetting to tell you this. I've been telling Tyler about all the kids he'll meet, their names, ages, and where they're from. When I told him about Estrella, he said, "Mom, I can say 'hola' to her and try to make her feel happy! And I'll tell her all the other Spanish words I learn in school and from you!" ;) He's a slow learner, so he doesn't know much, definitely not enough to have a conversation in Spanish, but I thought it was very sweet for him to offer. He does have a big heart! :goodvibes

How wonderful that he's home! He must be so happy to get out of the hospital. Being home will help him get better even faster now. :goodvibes

In DC, there are lots of private schools that are $20,000 per year....even at the K level. I think this is crazy and I have been thrilled with our public schools.

I would love my kids to be in classes with less than 10 kids....and anyone who can afford $60,000 a year for education....I say go for it!!

My family feels blessed to be able to have wonderful schools!!

Oh wow! I've never heard of that happening! Glad it turned out right for Daniel. This is just strange because all his hearing tests in the past have been normal. So I'm wondering if Tyler might be onto something with his idea of some blockage. Well, we'll soon find out.

Vanessa & John...have you seen this shot? We just got our PP CD and are going through it all. Can't believe it was over a month ago. :(

John1 is in the front seat with V's oldest DD and his DD and John2 is on the right side in the back seat with my DH Mike on the left.
