Hi all!!
Is anyone around ... or is everyone watching AI??![]()
Karen
You're very fortunate.
Here we are -- 13 months later -- and we're still GTY. Arrgghhh!
Woody
Been there, did that - now watching the Osmonds 50th anniversary on PBS. I am feeling my age tonight - I remember way too much of their stuff (and the Andy WIlliams clips). Donny is still so darn cute!!
that does suck. I don't want to have to haul my luggage...
I really like Donny too!!![]()
He just seems like a nice guy ... and I loved him in Joseph (dreamcoat).

I think during that era everyone had a "coach" for driver's ed - it's like they all studied it in college. I can hear the interview - "SO Coach, what did you study in College?" "Well Jim, I majored in Phys Ed (PE) and minored in Driver's Education."![]()
That is very cool about the Titans (I love that movie - it should be required viewing for every 6th grader). Didn't we have someone in the group from Marshall too? (never meet a coach that cute either)

Hi Lisa, My brother's home base is Jacksonville and he loves it there, but he's a Florida person. I love to visit, but I couldn't live there year round because I need seasons. I have stayed overnight there a number of times as I John and I were passing thru on our way to cruise and world. We overnight there and meet my brother for dinner. It's a beautiful typical Florida city on the water. It's the Atlantic not the Gulf. Which I like better because I grew up on Long Island with the Atlantic ocean. I know it's a nice place to visit and my brother likes living there.
I've never been to San Diego, but from what I know about it, it's probably a lot like Jacksonville. As Noel would say, just my thoughts.
Jacksonville is a nice area in North Fl on the East Coast.....you are close to St Augustine there as well.
Hi Lisa - not sure if anyone has answered this yet - I'm way behind.....Jacksonville is about 1 hr north of St Augustine along I95. It would take you about 2-2 1/2 hrs to get to Orlando. I went to school there for 3 years.......ages ago (early 80's) so am assuming alot has changed. It is a
"city" with rush hour and traffic and tall buildings (comparing that skyline to Orlando's and JAX is packed!). From what I've heard restaurants & shows are good there.
Maybe Deb can give you more up to date info as I think that's where her brother was stationed for a while.
Come and move closer to me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If no one is going to be at the CI&S maybe I should switch to the Radisson.
Been a crazy six weeks. I know I have no chance to go back and get caught up with what everyone has had to say.
Shawn has been in Honolulu for the last three weeks assisting in the opening of the new store there. I think it opens in a couple of weeks. He does finally come home this Saturday. Never realized how much he really helped with the kids and around the home. Guess you don't know what you have until it is gone. It will be great to have him back. I do miss him horribly. His absence did allow me to get out of the talk in Washington D.C. though!!!
Plans are all but finished for his 40th birthday celebration in Eden, Utah. Hope he will appreciate all the work I have put into it. We have friends coming from D.C., Oregon, San Jose, L.A., and Arizona. It should be a ton of fun.
While he has been gone, the pool turned a nice shade of green. Called someone to come to the house and figure out what was going on. Needed a new pump, there was a crack in the old one. They replaced it yesterday morning and I came home last night to a flooded front yard. Go to the back yard and the pool is half empty!!! The bottom casing of the pool filter split wide open and water was flooding our yard and the neighbors. Nothing like 15,000 gallons of water to make friends with your neighbors! Filter housing now has to be replaced tomorrow morning. Couple grand later, we should have the cleanest pool in the area.
Oh, I did see a few posts about rum. When we were in St. Kitts for the Southern cruise, we fell in love with some rum that they make there. Don't think if it is a good thing, but it tastes soooooo yummy. It is made by Brinley Gold and we can only find it online at like 5 places. It comes in the following flavors: Coffee (yuck), Mango, Lime, Coconut, and Vanilla. The Vanilla is the best - we have 10 bottles of it!!!! Only one of all the others (minus the coffee - yuck). Anyway, we like it too much!
Lastly, the USAF has finally cut all the red tape and created a GS13 position for me!! I am extremely excited - no more self employment tax!!! Oh, and now I will have benefits - you know - paid time off is huge when you haven't had it in three years. When we go on vacation, I don't earn a dime, kind of a double whammy. The Armed Forces have so many down days and again, I don't get paid for those. It is going to be a little bit of a pay cut, but is more than worth it to just have the stability of not wondering if my contract will be renewed each year. Now, we just have to see how long it takes to go into effect. Hopefully by June.
Hope all is well with everyone.
Oh my gosh, I'm tired just reading about your day!Since I am catting by myself this morning.....Here is the full version of yesterday's horror...
Good Morning All - Monday again - back to work.....at least I can get some rest.
Sunday was a strange day. It started out fine, a few posts on the Dis, church and then.....
We did not go over to our friends, which we ofter do, nor did we go out for breakfast (turned out this was a good thing).
Called Mother as we were to take her to dinner - she was feeling poorly, and cancleed. (turned out this was a good thing - not that she was sick, but that we did not plan to take her to dinner).
Arrived home and I decided rather than working in the house or garden I would paint the front door. I started the house in 2004 and then the hurricanes arrrived so I never finished, the front door or the back artwork around the door. The front door was a mess --- it was what I thought was a "free day" - sunny, not too windy and no diving or plans. HAH....
So, it was time to find the paint - that required cleaning out the back floor of the utility room to unearth all the paints and brushes and etc. (A good thing because we are slowly trying to clean and sort the utlity room of all useless stuff, dirt and cat hair).
Found the sander, the primer, the masking tape and got started. Coat 1 on.
While waiting the requisite hour, I started cleaning. Coat 2 of primer on.
Still cleaning - the post hole diggers have made a rusty spot on the floor. Enlist Sam's help - he was doing laundry. He finds the rust remover and starts on the spot - and then![]()

Rust is everyone ----ok - rust is under the water heater and it is leaking.
Know where this is heading - yup. water heater completely rusted out on the bottom.
So, we decide it is a good time to upgrade to one of the tankless water heaters that save on electricity (Go Green) HAH. They dave on electricty because most of them run on LP gas or propane (Not an option). The electric ones are not large enough to run two showers at once - you can get electric ones by mail-order but hey, we need one now. Nope, not at HD not at Lowes.
I will spare you the rest of the day, resulting in very sore muscles due to tugging and heaving and lifting and carrying and crawling into the attice for jakcs to take the camper off the truck....whew......
Oh, the door is not done, but it has a white coat of paint hiding the primer which will be sanded and then painted with the right color - assuming I have another "free day".
Sam put the new (2004 purchase) door hardware on the door and we drove, not walked, to the corner grill for dinner....And we had a HOT bath.
I would rather have been posting on the Dis.....
Oh well, off to do more laundry....now we have hot water again. DH alreqady at work....he left at 3:30 am - hope he feels better than I do.
We shouldn't have to haul our luggage too far everyone....there will be smaller luggage van following each Hummer with the luggage, they will be able to pull right up! It will just be the carry on's!![]()

HEY EVERYBODY, GUESS WHAT!
I got a monitor to hook my laptop up to! I'm baaaaaaaaaack!I LOVE FREECYCLE! I checked one last time right before leaving work and a guy had posted that he had a bunch of computer stuff to give away, including 3 monitors. So I e-mailed him my phone number, he called right after I picked up Tyler from school, and we immediately went to pick it up. His former roommate used to repair computers and when he moved out, he left tons of computer parts lying around, so the remaining roommate is trying to get rid of it all.
It's not the greatest monitor because the color is almost all faded out of the screen, and there are a couple lines going across it towards the top, but IT WAS FREE AND IT'S WORKING!
