Doug,

Thanks so much for your input. I don't mind the fact that the lens comes out from the body when it's turned on. That's the way the camera we can't find is. It was a Coolpix 3100 and we liked it very much. Also, it appears a lot of the controls for the 5100 are like the controls for the 3100. Unless someone has some discouraging comments, we'll probably go with the 5100.

Deb is at Holiday Inn Oceanfront and I'm not switching because I have a direct oceanfront suite for two nights. I've stayed there before and like it a lot. I have my own terrace and can watch the cruise ships going in and out. Way cool. I also love Mombos and the pool and room service. I love the location too. I'm sticking with my plans, no switching for me.

I think during that era everyone had a "coach" for driver's ed - it's like they all studied it in college. I can hear the interview - "SO Coach, what did you study in College?" "Well Jim, I majored in Phys Ed (PE) and minored in Driver's Education."

That is very cool about the Titans (I love that movie - it should be required viewing for every 6th grader). Didn't we have someone in the group from Marshall too? (never meet a coach that cute either)

I had my 9th grade Geometry teacher for Driver's Ed - he was super happy to be there too . Coaches in our school taught health class.

Got the passports...I can't remember who suggested the approach with the kids - I think it was you Holly? Anyway, it worked liked a charm. Just told them I wanted to get their photo and an id card for safety reasons and something we could have to show their age. The woman who processed it said a lot of people were getting them within 3 weeks, and she wasn't concerned. I got concerned when I remembered they had to take our birth certificates! Yikes! I figure I won't panic until April 20 - I do feel better knowing that she said most got them within 3 weeks, some within 10 days. Sounds like they must have really built up staffing there after all the media.

Over $400! That was a lot of DODs! Hope they don't come in handy! I can't wait until Easter, then I can start openly packing and getting things ready. It is getting harder and harder to keep this secret!

Good sunny afternoon Thieves.

It's gotten to be a nice spring day here in Northern CA. I'm feeling the tug of wanting to head to the coast....maybe this weekend we'll sneak over.

I'm worried about Molly's knee. She was very swollen last night. Not wanting to take her to the doctor since there isn't anything they can do and it will be all out of pocket for a visit, which I figure would be including xrays +$500. I'm going to drop her teacher a note to ask if she can sit out of pe for the week.

I don't know Nan, I dislocated my knee cap when I was in elementary. I had to wear a full leg brace which did not allow me to bend it for 6 weeks and then do PT for weeks after that. It hasn't given me a bit of trouble since then tho. Maybe you could call an ortho and at least phone consult with a nurse. Do you have any friends with dr-ly husbands?

I'm so sorry to hear about your daughters knee but I would definitely have it looked at! Some people are predisposed to dislocations because of how the patella sits on the groove and if its shallow this can happen more often!

As you will all see on the cruise I'm still in a leg brace and who knows when if ever I will be out of it! This is an "extreme" case but my daughters were laying on me a year and a half ago and when they moved off somehow they caught on my knee and the patella actually dislocated underneath my leg! It broke the patella and the femur and tore all the ligaments and tendons, etc. I've since had 2 surgeries to fix the some of the damage! But now I have nerve damage from the surgery! The doctors aren't sure when or if it will heal! So at this point I don't have a quad muscle even though I do about 2 hours of physical therapy a day and I have to wear a brace so I won't fall over! In my case it was a freak accident but you don't realize how important the knee is until something serious happens! I would just take her in to be safe!!!

Today was a half day at school, and a beautiful day in nor cal. My dd had a drs appt, so I took her after school and we met our cousins for lunch. My cousins 18th birthday..called me very excited this am..got her very own car. As she put it..all hers no more sharing with the parents! Then doctor, then we went shopping for dresses for upcoming dances/recitals and the cruise.
It was such a carefree beautiful day. I am sure I'll get some crap cause i didn't go back to work, but it was worth it!
I realized I didn't tell my boss I won't be there friday...oops! Well he'll have no choice, cause I'm going to DISNEYLAND friday and nothing can stop me! Nemo here I come.....

good suggestion, I found one and might just stop in at school thru out the day to replace. I live only 3 blocks so it's easy to run over there and swap them out.

yes I am. I've freaked myself out by looking on google. It does seem ok after it's been elevated and iced, but I will be calling the doc in the morning.

While streching, after her Walking for Fitness badge with the girl scout troop on Sunday afternoon, in our driveway she dislocated it. Fortunately it popped right back in, but it hurt and she was scared. It gets swollen while she is on it all day at school and then while resting it goes down. I'm afraid it's the same kind of thing I did in 7th grade during wrestling practice. I've had weak knees every since. I'm always afraid they will "pop" out again during activity that stresses them (like snow sking) hence my lack of enthusiam for such sports.

If it is still swelling you should have her go in to get looked at. Might be nothing but on the other hand might have damaged ligaments and be damaging it more by walking on it.

Sounds like a busy but wonderful day I'm envious of your long weekend , just looked outside and it's still snowing

Greg, I am looking at the new Canon SX100 iS, I want to have a second camera to carry around for quick shots. It is 10x optical and 8 MP. I think I am going to wait until just before the cruise, as I am a old canon user.

but the weather sucks...

Mostly it is a business thing that I am supposed to be doing very soon and we are stalled on the talks and I'm hoping it doesn't affect this trip so I'm also a bit bummed..

Just looked outside and there is a very nice but very icy sheen on my car... I guess I won't be going anywhere tomorrow. Just hope we don't lose electric... if we do... then we lose heat and I'm going to just sit down and cry...

& I have 4 packs of smarties left... not bags... pack...

I need a sunny day and a good phone call from the right person to tell me when I'm traveling and then the world will be better.
