Hey Deb,

I agree with you 100%. Hope I didn't come across as disagreeing with you.

I've also been on the receiving end of what I feel was a power trip for the TSAs. I think they can really "make or break" your flight experience.

So yes, you are so right about the rules and how they are enforced.

Jolene

It's all good Jolene.....I'm just flying for the first time since 911 and I'm hoping to encounter professionals along the way that have only my safety in mind.

I'm taking a morning flight out of Allentown, PA, it's a small airport and I expect that it will be easy going through. On my return flight I'm taking a red eye out of Las Vegas.....that may be a bit more scrutinized. I'm just hoping that I don't have to throw anything out that I'm bringing. I have to be careful of what I put in the check in bag and what I carry on. Thanks to everybody here, I now have a good idea how to do it right.

No idea sorry. Ivanova didn't reply to my last PM. I think they have finished with the Dis.

Ivanova may be posting on a Cruise fan board, called Cruise line Fans also Cruise Freaks, if it is the same Ivanova, the one I found did the 2005 14 night repo on DCL.

Was anyone on here actually flying on 9/11 day? I was on an international flight from Australia to Vancouver that day, it happened when we were in the air. Once we landed in Vancouver, we had to wait 5 hours on the plane, as they were searching each plane before they allowed us to get off. Then our luggage was unaccessible, and I was stranded in Vancouver for 2 nights, as no flights were leaving. All hotels were taken so I was adopted by some girls in their mid 20s who came to the airport to offer their home for stranded travelers.

DH was...we were in NJ visiting my family. He left a week before me to get back to work. He left on an American Airlines flight bound for LAX at 8am out of Newark. Ryan was down with my Dad watching TV and he started screaming when PBS cut in with images of the plane crashing into the first tower. He new his daddy was on an airplane (he was only 2 1/2). I was 4 months pregnant with Drew (in fact it's his 6th birthday today). After the second plane hit we realized what was happening and the media starting saying things like, American Airlines, LAX, Newark and I was in full panic mode...hyperventilating, contractions, the whole bit. I called American and they could tell me nothing...they wouldn't confirm what flight he was on, if he got on, nada. My dad pleaded with them to tell us something, nada (which I get, now). About three hours later they announced the flight numbers and thank god, it wasn't his flight. In the end, his plane was landed in Chicago and he didn't know what was happening. He said the flight crew left the plane immediately...he'd never left a plane after the pilot and flight attendants and thought that was odd. He got into the terminal and saw people crowded around TVs but figured he'd best find out why his flight was interrupted and see if he could get on another flight. After about 30 minutes of mayhem he didn't know exactly what was happening but he knew he wasn't going to get to CA by plane and got a rental car. He had a cell but couldn't dial out (circuits busy). After about an hour I was able to reach him and explained what happened and then we were cut off. He ended up driving home from Chicago to LA in two days (didn't sleep, he was filled with adrenalin).

I ended up leaving NJ on 9/16 (the first day planes flew again) and was the first flight out of Newark. It was surreal to see armed National Guardsmen (thank goodness for our military) partroling each gate. To be honest, the annoying precautions they now take make me feel secure when I fly. It may be a false sense of security, but after what we went through as a family I'll take it.

morning....crazy day at work - month end close and all.
we tend to tip heavy at Palo......

anything else exciting going on?
where is ontario california? close to LA?

Ontario is about 45 - 50 miles east of LA. Not far.

Marilyn, the link in my signature is working, bottom line. You might need to stretch the screen out wide to see that line. The download is at the top of the home page.

PJ, I just tried your link and I got the same "account suspended" message as on Ian's link...:confused3

LA from my home is more like 3000 miles, Toronto, ONTARIO, Canada, ;).

So many lost bags destined for Toronto, end up in California, it was a running joke back when I was in college for TAing. And poor travellers who had a non-detail oriented TA, would end up in California instead of back home in Toronto.

HI EVERYBODY! Just a quick pop in to say hi! At work today, too busy to say more. BUT....an update on my computer: I brought it in to work with me and plugged my laptop into one of the monitors here, and the computer itself works just fine, so it's only the screen. Maybe that won't be too bad, I don't know. However, any repairs are not in the budget, so I'm in the process of finding an old monitor to hook it up to at home. It won't look nice, but will at least be functional. So......look for me to return here in a couple days fullforce! :thumbsup2

First of all:

:dance3: HAPPY BIRTHDAY DREW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:dance3:

Ok, WOW....your story had me on the edge of my seat. I was pregnant with Taylor then as well....and being pregnant did not help matters. I could not even imagine what you went through that day Lisa, Does it still get you to even retell the story?!

Jolene...were you with your family or separated from them at the time? Thankfully I was not on a plane on that day, as I had just gotten home the week before.

OH OH OH

My ticker is back! 67 days till flight and 68 days til cruise.

I think I know what the problem is.

This past weekend, my web hosting company made some changes that went wrong.

The net is that they had to move my Mouse Manager site from one server to another.

What this meant was www.mousemanager.com was pointing to another IP address behind the scenes.

Whenever a change like this is made, it is broadcast across the internet worldwide, sort of like a change of address postcard, saying, "Hi there, I now have a new IP address."

This process is called "propagating". For whatever reason some internet providers process these address changes faster than others.

If you are seeing the "Account Suspended" it means that your ISP (Internet Service Provider) has not yet made the address change, so when you type in www.mousemanager.com it is hitting the old IP address rather than the new one.

That is why PJ and I get to the right pages when we type in www.mousemanager.com and other people here have reported that they aren't.

All this propagating is supposed to be more or less transparent to us folks.

All I can say is be patient and try again later. As soon as your ISP processes the change, you will be able to get to the site.

I can't say I am happy about this whole issue that suddenly reared it's head, but there's not much I can do about it.

Everyone, please let me know if you have any questions.

I'm still in a lifeboat.....just two more months to go, I would want them to book so we know, then we can make door signs with a room number on them.

All I can do is wait another month and then hope that I get assigned. At least when I asked DCL they said we would get assigned anywhere from 30 days out right up to in the terminal. Great. How do I get on the lists then?

We're going to have to develop a plan to report to someone to give them room numbers for the lists if assigned at the terminal. They will have to be manually entered.....the lists and the mini nav.:confused3

I'm sure we will know in advance Deb.

I seem to remember Noel was going to be the one to see if we had different room numbers when we got to the port, but of course that won't be the case now.

Exactly my point Marilyn.....we need a new volunteer main contact person who will have the master list......LiserAnn do you want to be that person in place of Noel. Do you have an assigned room number yourself? If you do we could make you our contact person, if you don't mind.

I think that each deck was going to be assigned a "deck monitor" who would report all and any changes to the master list keeper. I do remember that I had said I do this for deck 7. We have been assigned a cabin since day 1.

Just incase you missed it in an earlier posting:

PSE = PhotoShop Elements.

I just broke down and bought this today. Office Max had it on sale.

Ok thanks - yes it is there now!!

Not quite sure what you are referring to... there is nothing to "get on." You download the tool, install it and run it on your machine.

Can do it now thanks.

Thanks Ian - as a non techy person it is as clear as mud to me, but please don't worry about trying to get me to understand!!!:lmao: John just gives up when he gets the glazed expression, and that is what you got from me!!!! :rotfl2:

Anyway, I'm going to go have a nosey at the site. Thanks to you clever people!:worship:

Can't wait to have you back.....you are greatly missed! Hurry back soon!

with my flight changing I am considering coming back earlier and not staying for two nights at DL. Guess I have to talk it over with DH though. I just have a feeling those two days at DL would be really rushed and I hate to end our vacation on that note.

Lisa, I was taking my very first American Studies class that morning, 9am.

Our professor, Andrea, was from New York City. She basically said to us, the program of studies that was planned for the American Studies Major, just 75 of us, was now irrelevant and we would meet again next week as the her and her co-chair needed to meet and figure out what direction to go with the program. This was the very first year that the American Studies program had a formal curriculum, before that it was an informal program developed by the student and and one of the co-chairs.

Yup, that's the way that I remember it too. I think you should continue to be the deck monitor for deck 7. Then we'll need volunteers for all the decks. I would be a volunteer, but I don't know what deck I'll be on. We'll still need to coordinate with the person who wants to be the master list keeper and I nominate Lisa/LiserAnn because she knows the list the best and is the current possessor of it.

Hi Lisa,
I was just curious to see if anyone else was in the air that day. I had planned my trip for months and of all the days to pick to fly, it was that one! I was 4 months pregnant too! My daughter just had her 6th birthday the other day. I'll always think of her as my 9/11 baby.

That would have been so traumatic for you, I am glad everything worked out well in the end though. But still, you don't need those kind of stresses when you are pregnant!

Ok, WOW....your story had me on the edge of my seat. I was pregnant with Taylor then as well....and being pregnant did not help matters. I could not even imagine what you went through that day Lisa, Does it still get you to even retell the story?!

I was living in Australia with my husband at the time. I was flying back to MN by myself to surprise my family, visit them, and let them know they were going to be grandparents again. Again, it was bad timing on my part. I had to break down and call my parents from Vancouver and they sure were surprised (a bad kind of surprise!). And concerned.
