Welcome to all newcomers. But since your new, you can contribute to our bill and then we'll reciprocate! ;)

We think they will show prince caspian, but not confirmed yet..unless i missed something on our 6 threads!

We spoke to our 4th grade's teacher today and broke the news of the cruise. She was great. We talked about making a powerpoint presentation on the panama canal, and we might tie in information on the Gold Rush, as that is what he is studying. Does anyone have any plans on having their kids do a report? I was thinking that it would be fun for them to do a group project. So any 4th graders that might be interested, let me know! We are telling our kids on Easter. After Easter, for whoever is interested, maybe they can start to do a little research before the cruise? I can take responsiblity of the power point. All the kids could then use the same one. Figure we can try to finish a lot of it before the cruise, and then add pictures from the cruises.

I'm on my 4th day of the juice fast/feast thing. Not sure what to say about it at this point. Lisa

Lisa, we would be interested in that idea. Molly is 5th grade and Wilson in 2nd. I suspect that a power point could be adjusted for each person if you can work on the framework and plan on giving us all copies to modify that would be wonderful.

Thanks,

Nan

OMG!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: And here in Australia, a famous brand of beer is called XXXX (Four X), which apparently has a similar problem to 'eraser'....we have to be so careful when we go overseas not to accidentally say something really rude.....:rotfl: :rotfl:

Isnt it fun having to translate before you speak!!!:lmao:

And when you come to Canada, do you have a little snicker when you see someone wearing "ROOTS" brand clothing?

we'd be interested in that also....tays in 4th grade, she was going to do a book report on the canal, so that would tie in nicely.

We would be interested. My 4th grader has to do a project on the trip, but hasn't chosen yet. My 6th grader is working on a research paper on the construction of the Panama Canal.

We are going to get into WDW around 9am on the 8th. What is something fun to do besides the parks? That doesn't break the bank. It has to be on Disney property since we won't have a car. We might end up at a park but are trying to come up with other ideas.
You could visit Downtown Disney.

So how do projects work for kids? Is it "ok" for me to do the powerpoint, and have the kids enter in the data? Or do they need to do it from scratch? One thing that might be fun is to have it be a group project, so when each child presents, they can also share about the other children they met on board (where they are from, etc). It would be pretty cool - first slide could list the children involved with the report...probably can't have the number be too large. I'm sure Lori's 4th grader might want to get involved too.

This will be fun!

Hi! Have you posted before? I don't always stay on top of everything. Do you have a boy or girl 4th grader?
Lisa

I think that the kids can put together the report and then you can organize it in power point format. My daughter will be brining homework with her on this trip. Spelling, math and a book report. I will ask her teacher for assistance with this. I am sure she will give me some insight. I think it would be good if each child read a book on the canal (age appropriate) and then integrate kids doing the report and their backgrounds..something like that?!?!

Kisser..my dd has her 10th birthday on this cruise too!

Maybe they can get together to celebate!! What day is her bday?
My 6th grader got a couple of great age appropriate books on Panama Canal....and they actually didn't put her to sleep (always a plus).

We have a 5 year old boy. He will be in K-grade next year. I'm the sole female in my family! 4th grade, 2 grade, pre-k, and 2 year old.

Just post 5 more times here - just post anything. Then you can PM.

The best thing my son's teacher said today is that she would waive all the homework for the 2 weeks! It helps that one week is STAR testing, so nothing to waive that week. But the following week, she said he can just do this report on the Panama Canal and he would be covered! So happy about that. Did find out that they have their Gold Rush trip (2 night overnighter) the Wed-Friday after we get back. So it will be a little rushed for him to get back into school, and then go off for that camp. But it sure could be worse!
