We have one in Columbus that my best friend took us too. YUMMY, French Onion Soup. Best I have ever had!

I did! She is very funny and a great writer. She has a blog now too and she is moving to FL. I can't wait. I hope she keeps writing.

Unfortunately....I've just spent about 40 minutes one her site 'looking around'. This is slowing down the accomplishment of today's tasks.
I did see a couple of links to her previous e-bay auctions and what a hoot! I can't imaging looking for something on e-bay and running across one of her auctions (The one for the Nascar throw "Man Shawl" was a scream)!

And now, I feel I must go to Mimi's for lunch!

non MAC users....what laptop would you recommend? I would primarily use it for the net, and work - which is excel based and net based....downloading pics, etc.

Not John but I might be able to answer the question. Do you have a home network? Most all good laptops now come with WI-FI built in. All the new MAC laptops have AirPort built in and pick up wireless networks with no problem and they also have and ethernet connection for hard wire hook up. If you want to use dialup modem that may be extra depending on which MacBook you get.

Most all PC laptops will most likely have the ethernet connection as well as a built in modem port for dialup service.

Although I still use a Dell for work I still like my new MacBook better.

V...not John, but, most laptops come with wireless internet built in at this point. As long as you have a router at home, all should be good. At least that is how I understand it to be.

Where do you get yours? I download from Audible.com, but they do not have any of the HP books.

John, our local library actually has tons of audio books that you can download onto your home computer for 3 weeks (or renew 3x and have for 9 weeks). We have done almost all of our books through them. The one glitch is that their program doesn't work with apple at the moment so we are using an older MP3 player to listen to those books. But, you can't beat the price!!! I don't know if all libraries are doing this yet...the other county near us doesn't, but it is worth looking into. HTH

V...the main reason I just got one was 2 fold...

scenery shots
action shots for the girls soccer games

I had always had a SLR but with my new digitals never wanted to spend the money. For action shots, most of the point and shoots have such a delay that I miss the shot I was going for.

I am sure others will have different opinions.

I think Dell is a pretty good company. The one thing I learned is go with a basic model if that is all you are really wanting to do with it. We got really fancy laptops 3 years ago and they are monsters now. Computers get outdated so quickly go minimal and you can update more often for less than getting one fancy one! JMHO

I am a pretty basic user!! John and I budgeted for a camera - not much but he just called and said if I can find a resonable laptop, I can get one! Would love to take it onboard! But of course...there aren't many pink ones!

and I have not heard good things about Vista.

We have the system here, but yes it is just with windows machines right now. I can't even us WMP on my mac to get it to work.
