ok now on to which powershot to get.....I am doing the side by side comparisons...but have no clue how many megapixels I need....and ??

I have the Canon S5 and love it so far. There is a whole thread on this camera on the Dis Photography thread. It is pricey but the Zoom is awesome. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1235546

If you are looking for something smaller they have a bunch of reviews.

DH will be finding out that he is going on the cruise within the hour. Brent is coming over after church and doing the treasure hunt with him. PC cruise is the prize!

How did it go???? (inquiring minds want to know)

Steve, I don't think I have taken the time to tell you how much I really, really admire you. I am so glad you and the guys decided to hook up with this group. :grouphug:

Very well said Angie. I second that!

Kelly - I sent it paypal. Let me know if you need more. Thanks for doing this!

I hope you have a great time! Our school has a silent auction and dinner this coming April. They are holding it at the country club I belong to and it is $40 a person just to get in to the auction. It does cover a dinner buffett but still. I really think doing it that way excludes people. If a couple wants to go that is $80 plus the cost of a sitter.
I know a lot of parents have told me they are not going. A few have been speaking out asking for more affordable PTO events. I am going to go to the auction as it helps the school and I can use the clubs childcare since I am a member :thumbsup2 but then I feel as if I have choosen "sides" in the struggle to pick PTO events for our school. :confused3

edited to add: Our school is offering limo rides to the event for $10 a ticket from the school to the club. I find that odd but hey thats just me!

Marr..if you need a date let me know. I love school auctions. And $40 for a ticket...that is CHEAP! Anyways, let me know the date if you want company. I promise to spend money, I always do!

Ok so they update on my moms friends is very sad. SHe passed away Sat night. But everyone is ok they woke her up one last time and said their goodbyes. Before she died she left written instructions that she didn't want a funeral were everyone was sad. She wants to be cremated and her DD and DSIL to go on a cruise and pour her into the sea. So they are going to have a service at the church and honor her wishes. At least she will be where she wanted to be. And she is not in anymore pain.:sad1:
:grouphug: sorry for the loss
Hey guys, just popping in while I work from home today (phew).

We got our P&P Party tickets in the mail this week. WOOHOO!!! Also, my friend who I travelled to WDW with in October is going to be in WDW at the same time and is coming to the party with us. I can't wait!!

Has anyone had any luck getting a spot for Palo brunch/high tea since the first night we were booking?? I keep looking ot see if anything opens up, but it never does.

I did book the Rasul though and a pedicure for myself, though I may cancel those if I don't have the funds for them. That's what I REALLY want though, so I'm going to try to make it happen :)
I had no problem getting a ressie for brunch/dinner..tea was not available. However, we put our names on a waitlist and were called, but we weren't in our room and missed the return time.

We're leaving the track now. Going to toyrus or target to get something to cheer up the bday boy. Not the best way to spend his bday. We just decided to find an arcade to play for a while. We are planning to go to the indoor track in Sac at 1 with 2 boys from the gokart club. Better than nothing but I'm bummed we are not able to have his friends from home with him today too
Sorry to hear that his party was cancelled. I know you'll make it a fun day for wilson anyways!

I wanted to thank everyone for the :grouphug: for my moms friend. She told them she was ready to go and that made it better. She had no pain and is finally home.

The S5 looks like a great camera, and a great compromise between a point and shoot and full featured SLR.

Lisa, I take that as a HUGE compliment!

Though my avatar was not inspired by David Sedaris.

I can see the connection. I view him as an "Ian wannabe."

By the way, the photo series I did (which is where my avatar comes from) was done years before the Sedaris book "Dress Your Family in Cordoroy."

I rather like my photo series, there are about 2 dozen or so photos.

Now BIG points for anyone who knows who is in the photo...

OK, now I'm off to lead my 3 Sunday, Weight Watchers meetings (10 Steps to Success, Part 2)...

PS - Mrs. Bennett will be arriving in about a week. I'm very excited.

.

So actually seeing his book cover should remind us of you :thumbsup2

Ok, now I have more things to add to my list - thanks!!!:scratchin :rotfl: Now I want flowers in my stateroom.::yes::

Passports are in the safe in the loft so it is a bother!!!!

Our son Andrew has grown a beard and I don't like it!:crazy2: (Neither does his wife!)

Hi Marilyn,
DCL has our passports on file from the last time so you probably don't need them to do the on-line check-in.

I am awake after last nights auction, which was different. There was no silent, everything live. It was interesting. A woman at the table next to us won the "pick of the Live" and instead of picking esperaza resort in cabo, she chose a malaysian dinner party at a parents house! Pick of the live is them selling $100 raffle tickets and winner gets their choice of live items. I ran into several people I knew from my school and around. They were all surprised to see me there with my friends husband ( and wearing her nametag too!) BUT, we had a great time and his wife got her sleep so all is well.

Well I think he is in shock! Took him a few minutes even with Brent telling him several times that he was going on the cruise too. Then the "I can't get off in June since I'm off in May and July" started(he thought we were going to Myrtle Beach in May so I had to tell him that my cruise was in June). Once all the facts were out he understood. I'm sure when Brent goes home later I will get more questions. What I think is funny is that Brent needed to tell him so he could discuss some things with him . The things were-that the first thing they are going to do is go down the hall to Beat Street and see the traffic light and then they are going to play shuffleboard. The things a kid thinks are important!

Now to get him on this board!

Ha Ha He He.....Brent had to tell him several times....he WAS in shock!!! How great that was for all of you. I'm glad he's figuring it all out now. What a great memory you just gave to Brent that he will have for a lifetime!

Gydell - glad the cat is out of the bag. Tell Bill I look forward to seeing him again in May

thanks Doug...
I am looking at the Canon's:
A560
A590
A570
SD1000
A720
SD1100

Looking at the specs on Cannon's web for these cameras if I had to pick one and size was not a issue I think I would go with the A720. If I was going with something small and easy to carry I would go with the SD1100. Both use the SD memory card so you should be good to go there. Price may be another issue but those would be my picks.

Doug

off to Ihop with the relatives...suprise phone call inviting me to IHOP down the street when these relatives live 30min away!

I haven't been there in years!

I had a great breakfast meet w/ Mary (Tigger137) and DH Patrick. They are definately fun people....we chatted and laughed for 2 1/2 hours at Whispering Canyon. I was even given some British DARK chocolate :goodvibes (can't wait to start in on that).

Mary - I know you won't be on for a while, but incase you go to read the past threads, I just wanted to let you know that I loved meeting you and Patrick. Can't wait to spend more time w/ you in May.

We are talking about the DISer delswife, who has written some of the funniest stuff ever seen on the DIS. It's hard to find her old stuff here, but she has her own web site with all her stories:

http://delswife.net/

I suggest you grab some food and a bevarge and settle in for the long haul.

The expression "Love Ya, Mean It" comes from the server Uncle Dave at Whispering Canyon Cafe and her family picked it up and used it the moment they heard it. You will still occasionally see DISers with LYMI in there tag or signature.

Enjoy :thumbsup2

Thanks Jackie.

I have the site book marked and will do as you say :coffee: as soon as I can.
