Because I'm home from work today, I had the opportunity to call Cruise Line Formal and inquire about the rental of tails.

It was really sort of funny. I asked about a Disney Cruise and said I was interested in renting tails, and the woman thought I want to rent a tail, as in rent a mouse tail.

The long and short of it is, they do not rent tails or cut-away jackets. Just what they show in their catalogue.

I'm rather disappointed. I was really looking forward to wearing tails. I had visions of a 1930's Hollywood movie.

This is what I had in mind:

I suggest you take a peek on ebay. you'd be amazed at what you can find and the prices. I say this after I convinced Paul to buy a tux off the rack at Nordies....duh :faint:

Wise words Deb. In reply to your thought of having to care for yourself I'm so happy that we have found this place for my mom. Even though we are all in town to assist the heavy lifting is being done for her. Of course you pay a premium for this, but that's what all the years of mom & dad savings have covered for her. I'm so learning a lesson at this late age from the gift of my parents wisdom. I have kids, but I dread the thought of them having to disrupt their lives to center around me or Paul. I hope we can have enough saved at that point in our lives to make sure we aren't a burden to them. Also I hope we make the decission to move into such care early enough. My dad was like your mom and his last few years were very hard on all of us and even more so made it hard to have to force my mom to move on a dime when he died. :sad2:

I am glad to know that you have found a place for your Mom that sounds as nice as the one where my Mom is.

Also, for those asking about the internet. I can say that I bought the largest package, $150, on the magic during the med cruise. The internet connection was HORRIBLE...to say the least. The best connection I could get was on deck 4 around 10pm each night or at 6am each morning. BUT, I had to wait and would get disconnected. Anyways, I went to guest services and they gave me more time. So, if you buy the internet (which I have too) make sure anytime you have a delay or get booted off or stuck, go to guest services and make them give you the time back. There is no reason to pay for a service you are not getting. It was not a problem, they were happy to do it.

IMHO....

Steph

We did the same thing in the Med. We asked for more time and they gladly provided it.

Whenever we have been in the Caribbean, the internet has worked very well...hopefully that will be the case on this cruise!!

When I was in elementary school (I think 6th grade), we had a field trip to see the movie at a local theater. WHY in the world would a school think kids that young would enjoy sitting through such a long movie?! Nobody enjoyed it and many kids fell asleep. :lmao: Possibly they wanted us to experience the historical value of the theater, but that's not even something kids that age care about! It's a very cool place though and I went there frequently until I moved to Lansing. http://www.kazoostate.com/About_the_theatre.htmhttp://www.kazoostate.com/About_the_theatre.htmhttp://www.kazoostate.com/About_the_theatre.htmhttp://www.kazoostate.com/About_the_theatre.htm

What a beautiful theater!

They are fine to trade it is no problem and the hidden mickey ones are fine. It is the other ones that are not really disney pins. Cast memebers will not refuse to trade them and sometime the kids love them just as much as the real one.

so it seems that we are all ok on this then. If they can trade and the kids like them and they are CHEAPER than ebay by far I'm happy.

See I would like to have internet anywhere then I could stop lugging the laptop around some days. I have a small screen laptop (13" SONY) that fits in my purse but handheld would be even better!

There is a great little fijitsu Lifebook U810, really small, under $1000. I love the Touch, will be happier when I can copy and paste stuff I want to keep.

We watched THE NOTEBOOK last night. What a wonderful story! We laughed and cried.

Jan :earsgirl:
I loved that movie...requires boxes of tissues though:goodvibes
I wasn't planning on dressing for mexican night either but then I found this on ebay and I figured why not, it looks cute and seems mexican themed to me. I made an offer of $6.50...I'm not usually a fan of wearing pre-worn clothes, but for one night, and the price is right, why not! I may have to have it altered, but that's OK. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl...d=m37&satitle=150177645218++&category0=&fvi=1

We're also wearing matching Disney outfits (DH said only once also:laughing: ) but I think we'll wear ours for boarding.
What a great find DIS green and mickey what more could you ask for:thumbsup2

In the Terms and Conditions of the DCL Vacations 2007-2008 brochure (the one with the DVD inside), p56, it says:

"Each Guest may bring aboard the ship a reasonable amount of clothing and personal effects without charge, not to exceed two bags per person."

And in the information pack that we received recently, in the 'Setting Sail - Disney Magic' booklet, on p3 it says:

"Grab your suitcases (no more than two (2) per person please)."

From what others have said on the board, it would seem DCL don't enforce this. But as it is in the T&Cs, then they could at any time. Or I suppose they could start charging for any extra bags, like the airlines do.
there you go

I thought everyone knew, I have not been checking on the board here as we canceled this cruise for family reasons.
Noel- I am so sorry about Samantha and your SIL:hug: I was looking forward to meeting you and you will be greatly missed on this trip:grouphug:

.
I love Gone with the Wind:love: ...I was in shock DH never saw it I made him watch it and the sequel....

I have come to the realization that I'm not going to be able to wear my two new dresses for formal nights on this cruise. I'm glad I got them two sizes smaller and that I have them. I'll save them for a future day. It's going to take me longer than the time I have left before this cruise to lose the weight I need to lose. I'm not losing it like I was before I stopped smoking. I've stuck to my diet strictly this week and didn't lose anything. Because I noticed that I have replaced cigarettes with food. I constantly eat cheerios and I'll have two diet snacks a day instead of one and I'll have a fruit and a yogurt instead of one or the other. I'm still dieting strictly, but I'm eating continuously. That will slow down over time, but I'm still new at this not smoking thing....and I need the cheerios and food for now.

I guess I'll be wearing my old dresses to formal nights this cruise. I'll save my new dresses for another cruise and strive to get there at a later time. I'm not going to make it in the next two months.
Speaking for myself (although I'm sure I speak for others), we'd rather you in some old dress as a non-smoker and healthy than a fancy new one. I'm sure you will look wonderful in your dress and congrats on staying with it all!

Taylor, Molly and Jacinda
Stephs, Mars and Nans Kids...Norcal minimeet 2/19/08

Jacinda had so much fun. She is already pitching ideas for meeting up again. Also she had so much fun (and candy) she is tired! She just went off to get into bed as she has school tomorrow and is really worn out. Shopping will do that to you!

Exactly my thoughts!

Dear friends:

This morning I picked up all of our accumulated mail at our neighbors who had been collecting it for us and saw the letter from Carol (pahrumpgil). This is just a brief note to thank everyone for their concern.

Finding this thread was confusing until I read about the new rules. I thought my DH has posted our status in the old thread but I guess not.

To everyone who has been worried about me, I am doing well. My DD Samantha developed a blood clot in her leg and lungs due to her use of birth control pills. She had been limping thinking she had pulled a muscle, had a deep tissue massage which made things worse.

A few hours before we were to fly home she was in so much pain that we went to the local ER. The life threating clots luckily were discovered before we flew home. She spent some time in the hospital in Orlando before we were able to take her home. She is on the mend but will be on Coumadin for at least 6 months to dissolve the clots. Her visits to the doctor now only consist of a weekly meeting at the Coumadin clinic to measure her INR levels.

Right after that my SIL became ill, so I needed to go help DD with him. She also need surgery on her nose for old scar tissue so I have not been home much. DH has been traveling for work since we returned home so he has not been able to be much help with family issues.

I had asked DH to post what was going on with our family but clearly though he said he did , he must have posted in another board. Since he is in Asia, I will have to check where he posted via email. Since I thought everyone knew, I have not been checking on the board here as we canceled this cruise for family reasons. With all my travels and issues, I been checking not been checking my email so if anyone has emailed me, please give me a few days to get caught up.

To add insult to injury, my main computer crashed and I will have to wait until DH gets home to get any info from the computer. The lists I was keeping were on that computer so if you guys need any info from me, please let me know. Right now I am using my notebook computer which is my travel computer and has very little information on the drive.

Sorry to miss all of you on this special cruise.

Warm Regards,

Noel

We

Noel,

You will really be missed! What a scary experience for you and your family. It sounds just awful. I hope all goes well for you in the future!

Well said!! I should have said this seeing as I will only be in shorts and flip flops the whole cruise!!

OK . . .

Off to Hogwarts again . . .

Not getting enough of my DIS fix and rushing through the posts with Amy gone, but this will have to do. Went back to work today, and it is a LOT easier to do all this stuff when not working!:rotfl2:

Was not a good day at the office either, but that's another story.

Sorry to hear your day was not great today. :flower3: Hopefully tomorrow will be better. It will be one more day closer to the cruise, so it has to be better!

I love how our leaders change with the different threads!!
