so did anyone get a final answer about the pirate cruise in PV? is it really happening or is the ship in dry dock....DCL says they do not know but since the excursion is offered the ship must be operational (they know all!) :rotfl:

well, they fired another person on night shift where i work so now it is 2 full time nurses and 1 part time nurse covering night shift so i am back to working 6 nights a week...but i dream of the money! :lovestruc more massages for me!

I believe the pirate ship is in dry dock and some here are very disappointed.

I looked for the Navigators from the last repo cruise and have not been able to find them.

As this is a longer than typical cruise, anyone have any idea what the entertainment will be?

Hello

I was very disappointed   about Pirate Ship.

They are not mad at you, they are mad at
"The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune."
(Didn't somebody famous like Shakespeare write that?)

They are mad that their bodies are letting them down. They are used to being in charge and now they are not even in charge of their own bodies, let alone the house, street or town. They don't have a job, a car, their own keys, their own bathroom.

If they said THANK YOU it would be one more reminder of all they need you to do because they no longer can.

They know you have made a lot of sacrifices for them and that only makes them madder because they DO NOT WANT TO BE A BURDEN.

We talk about our kids thinking they are immortal, but heck, we all think we are immortal and when we crash into our own mortality it makes us mad. We have been having such fun being in charge, being our own boss, playing god that we forget that we have one God and He is in charge whether we like His plans for us or not.

It must be pretty hard to say, "OK, God, I will sit here in a body that does what I do not want it to do and let those I have cared for, nurtured and love beyond measure, do the things for me that make me feel like I am a baby when they and I would rather their lives were continuing without me as an interruption."

Hang in there. They appreciate you. They need you. It is hard for them to accept their reality now.

So, for them I will say it

  THANK YOU

Jan :earsgirl:

You know, I really do know all of this. That is why it really has been so easy to help my mom and Don's dad when no one else seems to want to......even my DH.

It really is my pleasure to give back to them what they have given so generously over the years when my DH and I were children.

But, it is too bad that my mom has always been like this....(at least after my sister died in 1969 and the 10 years that followed when she was drunk all the time). She just says the meaniest things to my kids and to me. It is so hurtful. She is selfish and unwilling to share.

This morning for example, my newphew (who has lived with us on and off for the last 5 years and who is luckily living in France this year teaching English as I have no room for him) is on Spring Break and visiting the love of his life here in DC. I love Drew with all my heart.....I just love him!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

Anyway, he and Kat (his girlfriend) needed a ride to the airport (Dulles 6 miles away) early this morning. The arrived at 6am and it took me all of 30 minutes to take them come home and stop at Starbucks for some coffee for my mom and Don's dad (and me of course ;) )

For that I got a lecture about how terrible I am to the kids. :scared1: :scared1: :scared1: and now I am getting the silent treatment.

And yesterday I got yelled at for taking care of Frank. Tuesday his older brother is having the same surgery Frank had...he is 10 years older and they have told him he is a High Risk. They is a 50/50 chance he will not make it though the surgery.

I am taking Frank today to visit him..(3 hours away) just for a few hours. If he were to die on Tuesday...I really want Frank to see him as it has been many months with Frank being so sick.

Yesterday, I kept my entire day open yesterday to do stuff for my mom. I wanted to take her to have her hair done......NO WAY she told me.....I am not going anywhere with you.

My brothers have both tried to get her to visit with them....NO WAY (and she is just so mean about it)

Okay here is the funny part....haven't told her about this trip yet. Last year when we were going on the MED she B*TCHED and SCREAMED for months....so I am just waiting to tell her about this one.....My DH says just go....she won't yell at him.......

I need to figure this out soon though......

OK, FIRST OF ALL, :confused3 DO YOU WANT HIM TO DRIVE? :confused3

With a left arm that is not working, I think no driving. I do not want anyone driving who cannot get both hands on that wheel EFFECTIVELY!!

I forget how old he is, but should he get a driver's license at all??? Maybe you can bribe one of these MDs to insist he not drive any more? It is always easier on the family if one of the MDs plays "bad cop" unless, of course, you really know a "bad cop."

Jan :earsgirl:

he really is okay to drive......He can hold the wheel and turn with the left arm...no fine motor skills though (button his shirt and stuff).

He was a firefighter (drove the BIG RIGS) all his life and the best driver I have every seen.

I did have the Doc take my dad's license away in 1998....and he died in 1999.

I have taken my mom's licence away...but she will not sell her car...She has not driven of a year. She should never drive again.

Oh my, Lisa, you need so much grace to get through that! Lots of:hug: to you and remember when you can to rest and take some down time. hard i know.

okay 11:30, I'm done. see ya tomorrow, oops almost forgot to tell you about Casey at the vet.

We got her some pills for the dementia. They will take about 2 weeks to show any signs of improvement and also we have a script for Valium. Believe it or not, the same stuff for people. We got it at Walgreens. 10mg Paul gave her 1/2 pill tonight. Hopefully she will sleep thru the night. Her heart and lungs are great. No reason to expect she is nearing the end. I just hope this is the right call. I'm worried about leaving her while we are on vacation. I just don't want her to go when we are traveling for her sake or the sake of our house sitter.

Time will tell. If the meds help her now, maybe we can just have her drift off in her own time...

nite nite :cloud9:

This made me so happy to read...I hope Casey does GREAT with the Meds...(maybe you can share the Valium with Holly for her Sub ride.....just kidding Dr. Hug!! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: )

Off to finish laundry, take Frank to church and then off to Frank's brothers house...maybe I will try and take a few pictures of them together.

good morning.....I just finished watching Presumed Innocent with Harrison Ford, never seen it before, pretty good. I am showered and have to do my hair. My mom is coming down to take me to the dealers so we'll see how it goes.

I just realized both our cars are V8's...this car is not! Not sure how much difference that makes driving.

is everyone asleep? I guess it is one of those good lazy Sunday's....it is gorgeous here. John is out watering and the girls are on the couch watching tv.

Yep! I hit it every-time we go through MCO. I have a hard time paying 15% more for the same pair of shoes up here, so I wait until I get down there. If I stay over night, includes my parking for three weeks, in BUF before flying down I will check out Dick's sports to see what they have.

Pj

They are cheaper at the MCO Crocs store?

Another idea for gifts for CMs!! Give pins you no longer want.

Pin story:
When we cruised with pahrumpgirl in Sept-Oct 2007 we (not pahrumpgirl) had a diningroom server who GREATLY admired a pin worn by one of our tablemates. He gave it to her one evening and she said she would put it on her hostessing lanyard. He was pleased.

The next morning we saw her at Topsiders welcoming guests and handing out hand wipes. She had on a lanyard with 10 pins. She said that CMs can only wear lanyards when they are hostessing and must trade with anyone who asks. They can only have ten pins on the lanyard at a time. That makes it a part of their uniform.

I asked her what she did with the special pin and she said it was the first one to be traded that morning. :scared1:

I wonder if our tablemate knew that she traded it away and how he felt about it. I thought she wanted it for herself, as a special momento. Nope, she traded it. :confused3

Jan :earsgirl:

I have to comment on this. She did not have to put it on her hostess lanyard if it was a gift. Disney give the Cast Members pin to trade with the guest, they do not use their own. I think it was very bad that she traded that special pin. Most castmembers will not do that. They like pins too if you give them random pins they may trade each other for one they like though.

Brrrrrrr! It is so cold here. Thick frost everywhere first thing, and still there in the shade. Even in the sun it is cold. Just back from a cold walk. It's cold, did I mention that?:)

Just eaten a Hot Cross Bun - first pack of the year. I love Hot Cross Buns and somehow they seem a healthier option to chocolate which I am missing terribly.:lmao:
