You are our almost neighbor! And I was born in Texas too!

So sorry to hear you lost your husband. Glad your girls are close to your family!

I actually went to Linfield College and my husband and I lived in McMinnville before he got on with Southwest Airlines!! It sounds like we're living in reverse! I'm an 8th or 9th generation Oregonian (I can't keep up)! My family was here before it was a state! There's actually a Mtn. named after my father's family!!

And yes, we just celebrated Valentine's Day at my parents!!!

DrHug should be on his way home now. Looks like I will be able to stay up and give him a big ol' Valentine smooch! I'm gonna tell him John was making fun of his shoes too! :lmao:
Reminds me of a story! He used to wear Hush Puppies, the ones that were slip on. The flap on the top would flip up sometimes and our girls (young teen and pre teen at the time) called them his nerd shoes! :lmao: We were in Idaho with friends who had a nice boat. Our friend pulled the boat up on a beach on the lake. The bow was quite high off the beach and DrHug was standing up there. He noticed his shoe flipped up and for some unknown reason he yelled "Nerd Shoe!":confused3 getting the attention of everyone on the shore (including manly young men and lovely young ladies) and then slipped and launched himself over the railing, scraping the hair off his shin on the way (left a little furrow of hair on the rail), and landed right on his chest on the ground! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl: Lucky he did not kill himself!! :rotfl: He was limping for awhile! We of course have had many laughs at his expense! :rotfl: :rotfl2: This was 25 years or so ago and the kids will still every once in a while say Nerd Shoe!! and laugh!

Ohhhh... and we're not going to let him forget either!!! I just won't mention it until we get back onto the ship at Aruba!!!:rotfl2:

I have to call it an early night too. I woke up at 4:30am with a mirgraine. Treated it with meds & sleep 3 times until noon. Then I got up and I've been feeling crappy the rest of the day. Bed and I hope sleep will knock it off.

Happy Valentines Day

Back at ya Nan... I'm turning in early... have to remember that my clock is an hour ahead..

Night all!!!:)

Cool! Which mountain? We did the Oregon Trail backwards from Oregon City to the Wyoming border a few years ago. We stopped at all the historical markers along the way and read alot of diaries and historical documents. I have to say, I have great admirations for your ancestors!!! The diaries of the women were very interesting. One was pregnant when they left St. Joseph but she never mentioned it in her diary. But she did talk about the smells of the rotting carcasses. I can only imagine, being pregnant and having to walk past those kinds of smells. She carried two small children over the Barlow Road and gave birth just a few days after arriving here. Amazing stories.

Night all!!!:)

He is home now and his response was, "yeah, she better wait until after Aruba!!" :lmao: :rotfl: Maybe he will demonstrate with his new Nerd Shoes, the crocs! :rotfl: :lmao:

Calling it a night here also. Off tomorrow. Hope to mow the yard one of the weekend days. We have tickets to see Bill O'reilly in Portland tomorrow night. DGS is taking Advanced Placement Government so he had developed interest also and wanted to go with us. It is a trek to downtown Portland for us so we will probably make an evening of it and go for dinner somewhere also. We may get to add another autographed book to our collection! :thumbsup2

It really is amazing!!! I don't think I could have done it!! I'm more of a hotel kind of girl!!!

The mountain is Mt. Githens and it's on the topographic maps and hiking maps! As you can tell I'm really into it!!:rolleyes1 I haven't been there since I was young but it's over in the valley! My dad know all the details and loves talking about it!!! I'll have to have him refresh my memory!!!

Oh man!! You have had a tough week! :grouphug: You do not need to loose weight unless you are at a weight that is unhealthy, or keeps you from doing things you want to do. My pet peeve, you are not loveable unless you fit a certain mold. NOT!! We have a DD that gets comments that she is too thin! No, she isn't, she is built that way, straight as a stick no...um, no need for a bra I guess is the DIS way to say it, but she eats alot, has no eating disorder. We are built the way we are and we are all beautiful!! Sorry, off my soapbox now.

I agree. AND my mom is the same way. Always telling me that I could lose a few. I finally stopped going around her. It's too much to always be reminded about someone elses flaws. Thats how I look at it, my mom isn't happy about herself so she projects onto me. BTW, my mom is 64 and looks about 50. Size 6...disgusting! I can only hope I look that good when I am her age!
Hi Everybody,
We paid our trip off, and I was just wondering. When was the final payment due? Also, if people don't pay their remaining payments, what happens to their rooms?

We are a gty cat 12, and i know I asked this before, but someone please remind me (I keep praying to Walt in Heaven) nobody gets upgraded, right?
Hold on to hope. I just got my room assignment and even though we didn't get an upgrade, we got a SPH room and I am stoked!

Nan...thats beautiful. What a crafty lady.

Today was my friday. I really like working at a school! We have friday and monday off. Although, I am going to work tomorrow. My daughter is going on a playdate right by work, so I'll go in to catch up on some work. I really didn't do anything today. We had jump rope for heart this morning and then valentines parties in the afternoon, then a bunch of singles went for margaritas afterwards. So I came home and took a nap! Now it's bed time.

I'm watching episode 2 of lipstick jungle. It looks good so far.

Steph

Kathe,

I don't even have a dress yet so your doing good. I think anything nice will be fine. Myself and DD(11) is who I am stressing about. The little one should be fine. That 11 year old age is hard to find for.

I so agree! My daughter is 9 and wears a size 8/10. She is at the age where she does not want to childish and I do not want her to look too grown! I have found some cute ones from the Limited too.

GTY ROOMS--MY SOLUTION

If you want an idea of when rooms are going to be assigned, someone go over to the thread for May 3, 2008 and ask someone if they will post on our thread when their GTY status gets changed and rooms get assigned.

Once they assign out the Magic for 5/3/08, then our cruise is next and then you can be checking every hour to see if your stateroom number is there.

Might save you some time from going to that "super fast" DCL site to check every hour of every day.

:thumbsup2

Good idea.

I sent a pm to someone that cruised with them and posted a thank you for hosting the party. I don't know the person, but hopefully we will at least hear something, or not. :confused3

I thought about doing that too so glad you have done.

And, I might add . . . I had a 3 year, 8 month head start on you too!

She is female!!

That's just what I was thinking . . .

Here's our nut of a dog, Lexi, and she loves the snow. She will lay out in it on the deck, and roll around in it too!

Love the pics, particularly that last one!

Forgive me if I am too punchy here, but it took me 2 days to get home from Florida. My Ft Myers flight was delayed because of freezing rain in Atlanta and I missed my connecting flight to SLC, the last one of the night. Everyone on the flight missed thier connections and there was a lot of yelling at the flight attendants and even more yelling at the gate agents. I went to the crown room, and no joke, burst into tears. I wanted to go home so bad! I think because I was the first person not to yell, they were so nice! There was no need for yelling, it is an act of god. Anyway, they forced me on to the first flight out at six fifty, it was overbooked and had a waitlist of over 40. Then they gave me a free hotel night and a tshirt to sleep in. My only question is. why doesn't anyone sell saline solution? Seriously, no one with contacts has ever been layed over in an airport?

Anyway, the morning flight was delay another 1 1/2 in the morning while we were sitting on the ground with no heat, due to mechanical problems. I wore the same yicky clothes for 2 days and my contact is glued to my eyeball and I wanted to kiss the ground when I finally got to my car.

what a day...

Oh poor you! You should go out and patent the saline solution!!!!

I'm bringing DVD's and some candy for them... I hear that they use books and DVD and trade with other CM's

That's a good idea. I'm going to write that one down in my little book of Disney tricks.

That is a good idea. Some of the cms told me phone cards, but they can be complicated. Alot of them need international. On my last cruise, a woman gave out day planners. They were nice and everyone said they liked them. I brought alot of sf magnets, since they work on the doors.

I thought of gift cards but I didn't know what stores they had everywhere but I guess there is a Walmart in Florida.

Hey guys - wow - its getting harder and harder to keep up here but this topic surely interested me. This is what I have been doing - when I come onboard I usually bring something with me - SSSHHHH - don't tell anyone but in Spain - I brought on fresh cherries from the farmer's market and once time I brought in some Mexican pastries from land - or some sweets while on excursions.

I am also a "reader" but dont' have much time anymore so I've been switching to books on tape. Well, the last couple of times I've been leaving my "books" in the rooms. One time I left them in the room but came back a few months later to discover them in the guest library in quiet cove. So when I asked my then stateroom host - he said that if you leave anything behind like books - to leave a note specifiying that you want them to go to crew-members library. Apparently unless specified it goes to the guest library to which they don't have access.

I've also left behind laundry detergent, softners and extra water, etc. I've found that what seems to go over very well are small pictures of themselves in uniform or when you catch them - most do not seem to have a problem posing if asked. I usually spend part of the last evening delivering 4 x 6 prints and I've always gotten a smile! Course, this entails having to either bring along a small printer or having the foresight to have them printed up early in the trip.

Oh yeah - I even given some picture DVD's like the kind you can buy in port - usually generic and can be bought somewhat cheap for tourists - many do not get to go out for long and they seem to enjoy this.

Hope I've given some good ideas to others - would love to hear of others. I've been told by some CM's that they have a hard time with some of the phone cards as they don't always work well for them.

Anyone else with some other ideas?

No patty fingers if you please.

Did you see that the same person that won the bid also paid $76 for a used Burberry sweatsuit for a 3 month old.

patty fingers?

somone might have more money than sense.

Hmmmm.....speaking of jewelry, I wonder if I should bring my display jewelry on the cruise, people could borrow if needed (with some sort of sign out sheet), and I could do a jewelry show on a sea day. Could be fun trying on jewelry at sea! :thumbsup2

That could be fun!!

You know Angie... I'm wondering what it's going to be like... I think in a way it's going to be a relief to have her out of my life - we've NEVER gotten along... too many lies told... & my steps... I met them once. None of us even went to the wedding (I got invited on Thursday...they got married on Sunday... 5 states away...) (guilt invite, I imagine...)

I only wish for a prince as good as yours... :lovestruc

I'm pretty sure that it's going to be around 8 am on 5/10... :rolleyes1

Don't we all!!! We went to Coldwater today and tried things on.. and then I got the loving speech from mother dear... "you know....you really need to lose some weight..." At least she didn't pat my tummy when she said that...:upsidedow

That's my MIL! I had an early hysterectomy at 30(wonderful!!!:) ), and a few years after we were staying with her. I think I had a loose dress of the fashion then though I was quite slim at the time. 'You're not pregnant are you?' she said with a smile? Doh!!

Oh man!! You have had a tough week! :grouphug: You do not need to loose weight unless you are at a weight that is unhealthy, or keeps you from doing things you want to do. Well said. :thumbsup2 Now if only the nurse who checks me every year thought the same!:sad2:

Apologize in advance for the post and run...

I cleaned out a few PM so if anyone would like to PM me to join the fish extender teams, please feel free. I will be working on the teams in the next few days. I'll try to read back to see what people thought about my March 1 deadline - or if one of the "regulars" could PM me or email if you have it with the thoughts on that that would help a lot.

I think the speed of the thread and my total inability to manage my time will make it harder and harder for me to keep up. So please make sure to PM me - and I will consider adding my email to PJs website - if you need to get a hold of me. Once the teams are finalized, we should be good to go. Any my team - we need to order!

SO GLAD to be coming on this cruise!!!!
Night all,
Lisa

We are SO GLAD you are coming along too!:Pinkbounc

Tell him I will wear my crocs with him!!!

I'll wear mine too!! (John wears Crocs as slippers and loves them - don't tell John1 though!;) )

Does anyone else DH decide he is ready for bed and turn of the tv, lays the remote across the room and leaves. Leaving me sittin here staring at a blank tv?:confused3 :rotfl:

:rotfl2: Yup :lmao:

I don't usually want it on anyway and this is his signal for me to wind up DISing and get ready for the shower because he will be done soon.

Global warming strikes again.

SERIOUSLY--glad you are home SAFE AND SOUND!!
How are the eyeballs?

YIKES! What a day Kim!

I never understand what good people think will come of yelling at people who are just doing their job, and have no control to change the situation. Hopefully you and Steve can have a nice evening.

:confused3 Maybe they would have preferred the plane to take off and then fall out of the sky.......

NOT

They are not thinking
or they are idiots
or both.......
