Just saw your other post, Type A is the respiratory type.
Sorry, we posted at the same time. THANK YOU for that wonderful answer. I can help him through anything other than vomiting. Can I avoid getting it? Extra Airborne tonight? Drinking some as I type.

Thank You - never mind my response below - I am out of it I think! thanks again - I just thought I was going crazy.

Wash your hands!!!! Don't let him cough on you.

Holly, this is the respiratory influenza. The one they give flu shots for. Chicken soup will be really good for him, but if you can make it from scratch it is better. Boil chicken, shred it, put it back in the broth and add carrots, onions, some celery,(all chopped) salt, pepper and a bit of garlic. Add some noodles or rice. There have been studies done that this old wives remedy really is helpful. :thumbsup2

You could call your doc and ask for an antiviral. It might be to late to be effective for Tyler, but could be good for you if you take it when you start to feel sick.

Did you get a flu shot?

Click on the little calendar icon on the shipboard page of the website, or the link at the end of my ticker in my signature below.

Cheers!

Yep, helps loosen up nasal mucous.

Off to a bat mitzvah, (spelling). See you all around 11:00 pm eastern

NO flu shot. I'll call the doc about an antiviral. Not sure if I'll get anybody on the weekend or if they'll do it without seeing me, but I'll sure call. Thanks!

Only the best chocolate in the world (in my opinion). They're sold in stand alone stores in malls and the like. Many airports now have kiosks that sell the pre-boxed chocolates. It's my weakness!

They arn't sold near me!:sad2: They sound great.

DH lived in Canada and said those are there smarites too. Now I want to try different types of candy.

Reading our newspaper today, there was an article about two young men in our town who are currently serving in the Peace Corps in Panama City, Panama. Periodically, they report about their experiences. I thought you might find this one interesting:

“A little boy lost a tooth this week. I asked him what he did with his tooth. He threw it on the roof. Apparently, the tooth fairy equivalent here is Ratoncito. After asking around, I discovered every house has a Ratoncito. He’s basically a little mouse with great big ears that he uses to fly, Dumbo style. They say he’s kind of a burnt-orange color and only comes out at night.

When you lose a tooth you sing this song and throw the tooth on the roof. “Ratoncito, Ratoncito take my little tooth and leave me a new big tooth.” This rhymes in Spanish. After their explanation, I told them that in the United States, the tooth fairy takes your tooth from under your pillow and leaves a gift. The locals thought this was hilarious and stupid. Like flying mice make perfect sense. “

That is very cute.

OK...I left a message for the after hours on-call doc.

I wish they'd dropped Tyler off first instead of making him go wait with them at the pharmacy with them when he feels so lousy. :guilty:

You know, home made chicken soup is sounding really, really good. I think I will poke around and see if I have the makin's in my kitchen. :thumbsup2

Well, Sophia is back from spending some time with a friend, and we are going to go and get something to eat. (no, I am not cooking).

Will check in later.

John, way down at the bottom left hand side of any screen on the DIS you will find a pull down menu, these are the different colour schemes found on the DIS, the best of mobile surfing or work surfing is Discreet. Some of the forums auto over ride even this choice though.

For anyone interested in the audio copy of Path Between the Seas, I was able to download a WMA version for free from my local library. They use a system called Netlibrary, check out yours to see if they offer free eaudiobooks. This for windows users only, oh well. Enjoy.

Have you or has anyone ever tried the sandals that crocs has? I bought two pairs after summer so I can't wear them until this spring/summer/cruise. I just want to know if you think they are as comfortable as the croc shoes. This will be my first attempt at wearing crocs because I think the shoes are ugly. The sandals look nice though. I hope they feel as good.

I hear you have to get used to them a bit then they are really comfy...

the flip flops? I have a pair I've never really worn, I don't like things between my toes. I have friends who have them and like them.

When you wear crocs you throw all fashion sense out the window. For the megadays and on planes I even wear them with little socks, shhhhhh. As I get older I care less about looks than comfort, which is apparent.

Crocs with Socks!!! there's a whole secret society out there!!!

The real ones, in your picture, not the fake UK m&m knock offs.

I'm a Smartie Queen as well.

I think we have the country covered...

Michelle East Coast Smartie Queen

Holly Mid-West Smartie Queen

Nan West Coast Smartie Queen

We are on the cruise having a meet, kinda like the party of nine...(POC III) (pieces of eight) we are the party of three, Smarties Party of Three :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I feel a t-shirt coming on....

I am on the blackberry and I have not admitted this yet but I am addicted to smarties. "My name is Lisa and I have not had a smartie in 7 hours"

My DH had a meeting the other day and they gave out smarties and dumdum pops!

LISA!!!! You have been holding out on us for MONTHS!!! I can't believe it!

Just wait until you see what Holly and I have up our sleeves....

You my friend are now The Smarty Queen of the South :wizard:

I AM ROYALTY!!! Wow... Queen Michelle of the North... (I'm more north than East... Give the East to Lisa... :goodvibes )

Holly....
My son was also diagnosed with FLU A on Thursday, he has real bad coughing and a high fever, too late for the antiviral (must be given within 24-48 hours of symptoms, which was just coughing but started on Monday) My pediatrician gave me persciptions for "Tamiflu" for everyone in our family....just in case....Well yesterday, I started with the flu, it is horrible and my husband picked up the Tamiflu for me and I can't tell you how much better I feel today (although yesterday was the worst!). Tamiflu shortens the virus if I understand correctly. I will guarantee next year we are all getting flu shots!!! I have never been so sick, even if it was one day for the worst of it!

Hope Tyler feels better and I hope you don't get it!

Just back from a wonderful meal out and checking in before going off to bed for a few hours!!!:)

It comes on tape? I ordered in the paperback edition and it is the same size as the hardcover, :scared:. I am about a 1/3 of the way through the book now.

Pj

I think I am skipping through to about half way through. Should finish tomorrow!!!:lmao:

:lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: He said it will never happen, he plans to let age neuter him naturally! :rotfl:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I was up Marilyn, but too busy to DIS.

BTW, Amy arrived in Manilla safe and sound, but says she did not sleep the whole way over, and is a bit stressed. I told her she needs to get some sleep. We also found out that she was wrong about the time difference - 14 hours instead of 12.

Glad Amy arived safe and sound.

But our Smarties don't have a candy shell at all, tasteless or otherwise. :confused3 So, which came first the Smartie or the Smartie? :lmao:

We as children, and our own children used the red Smartie as lipstick!!!

Do those Smarties have chocolate in them???

Oh yes!:thumbsup2

OH, I'm not upset at all. He only took him there since redi-care isn't open on weekends and the doc told him to to get the fever down. He just called me back, they're on their way here, he tested positive for Influenza type A, whatever that is. Flu I know, but have to google. I hope it's not the throwing up kind because we don't have experience with him puking. NOt a fun night here tonight I'd imagine. I have no experience handling this stuff so wish us luck.

Poor Tyler!

Those are some of my favorite sickie comfort foods.....and grilled cheese and chocolate pudding......uuuummmmmm uuuuuuummmmmmmm good. It makes you feel all better!

Not together I hope!:scared1:

Ok, just about off to bed. Up again in 5 & half hours. Will have a couple of windows open so hope to chat to aomeone too.
