Good night. Fell asleep with the laptop on my lap again!!:lmao: :lmao:

Lisa, I do that too! :rotfl: Glad I'm not the only one! But what's really bad is when it slides OFF your lap onto the floor. Yikes! That can't be good. Mine has been dropped so many times over the 3 1/2 years I've had it, it's a wonder it still works. ;)

So with all of those with schooling/educational/teacher problems in not allowing the children the time off, we could always look at the international make up of this group alone.

What a great opportunity to engage in discussion with international people and different cultures! They get to meet kids of different backgrounds and become friends with them. All the while going through new lands and cultures themselves and getting the opportunity to actually see a marvel of the world in the Panama Canal.

Already in this thread (or is that threads now?), we have learned the differences between English and American Harry Potters. We know there is a difference between Cliff's and Coles notes. We have ppl on this cruise that are coming from many different areas and different upbringings, all being brought together by 2 main items - the love of travel and the power of Mickey Mouse.

I can't see why an educator would want to deprive a child of such a possible educational experience that no classroom can ever recreate.

Don't forget the value of family bonding!

I wonder if their answer would be different if they did not know it was a Disney Cruise.:rotfl:

Actually, I bet it all boils down to Federal reimbursement. The schools get their money based on attendance. If a kid is gone, they don't get that money and they were counting on it.

If you could get those people off the record, they would probably say they wished they could come with us and this is a great opportunity for the children, but if they say that they are shooting themselves in the foot financially.

I'm not mentioning the Disney Cruise part, but my kids are little enough that they probably are. I have only mentioned the trip to one teacher so far and he said it sounds like they will learn a lot more than they will at school. I started with the nice one.

I was tryong to go to sleep and Daniel AIMed me to tell me he qualified to bowl in a National Qualifier......which is in DC this weekend!! Yea!! I think he is coming home tomorrow!!:goodvibes :goodvibes

Lisa (Calmom), no worries about your satelite being out, you can watch Survivor online tomorrow at cbs.com. That's what I do!
Thank you for the tip!!

I so hope you book. We'd be a sad group without you :sad2:
Thanks... DH and I are going to have the "talk" in about 30 minutes, once the kids are sound asleep.

Our school doesn't get funding based on attendance, I'm not sure why. So our Vice-Principal was very supportive - he said "althought I can't tell you to just do it, I'd do it."
And we would be missing STAR testing, so big plus as not as much homework to make up.

YAY FOR DANIEL! And how great that you get to see him again so soon! :thumbsup2 Is he feeling better?

Can I ask for a special prayer tonight?

Some of you might remember I went to Minnesota to visit my Grandmother back in December...she broke her hip. She was 98, and had never spent the night in the hospital other than having babies. My sister and I visited (that's when I bought my purse at the mall of america).

Anyway, my parents emailed two days ago that she took a turn for the worse with her recovery. My parents were in Aruba. They got a flight home to SFO, landed last night around 10pm. This morning at 3:30am they went to he airport to fly to MSP - my grandmother's home is about 2 hours away. As soon as they landed, they got a call from my Uncle that she passed away.

Her name is Adeline Flaig and she truly was a beautiful and wonderful woman. She had 7 kids, 32 grandchildren, and I can't keep up with how many great-grandchildren...maybe 50.

She lost her husband 10 years ago, and a few weeks (Jan. 98). She was very sad for a year after, but then came out of it and made a couple trips across the country to visit our family. I have great memories of my kids riding the cable car with her.

So I'm a little sad, and would love the thought of prayers for her welcome home.

Thanks.
Lisa

Does anyone know if the Vista Spa has that egg-looking capsule that is supposed to make you feel like you've slept 8hrs while you've only been there for 20min? (I saw Samantha Brown do it on her Med cruise (RCCL) special on the Travel Channel).

They had it on the Wonder in 2003, but I have not seen it the last few years on the Magic. Unless it is tucked away somewhere.

Yeah! I love reading how exciting it is to have him home. You two have a great relationship! Lisa

Good Luck, waiting to hear from you

That is strange, I thought all public schools do. Are ya sure?

yup APs. I have premium, the rest have Deluxe. I get the discounts and the days we go seem to work for Deluxe. What are your dates? We need a trip, but couldn't make either of the suggested mini meets. I really want to go in feb during our break 2/18-2/24 (wil's bday 2/24)

Nan, how long would you be there on the 24th. We are thinking of going down on the 24th or 25th for bubbas birthday. If you guys are spending some time on saturday we could plan on meeting up.

Yes, I think they because they get a certain amount through real estate taxes or something so they aren't dependent on it. I'm sure they get funding of course, but it isn't dependant on attendance.

For sure Lisa. She is going home. A life lived well and well lived. I also give you a  my friend, for while you are happy I'm sure for her to be in God's arms now I also am sure you are missing her and have sad thoughts for your parents and their loss.

Some parents take kids out about 5-6 weeks a year...it isn't wise of course, but it happens. Lisa
