MaxPass questions for Australian family of four!

Our family will be visiting the Disneyland Resort in late September through to early October (just book our flights- yay!).
We visited last April before MaxPass was introduced. We are purchasing the 10 day Australian pass and was wondering can you purchase the MaxPass on a day to day basis? For our family of four, purchasing it for all 10 days will work out quite expensive. And how (or where) do we purchase the MaxPasses?)

Yes, you can purchase on a day to day basis. My son & I were there last Sep/Oct - we had a 10day pass, in the parks for 8 days.
We didn't purchase every day, just the days we spent most of the day in the park. On the Saturday when we weren't going in till late arvo etc.. I didn't bother with it.
I assume you have the D/L app downloaded? Once you have entered through the turnstiles you can log on to the app and purchase MP for that day.
You would have already scanned your tickets into the app and can also have a credit card on file in the app / your Disney account. It is then very quick to select who in your party wants to purchase MP - all or only some of you can purchase it as you choose.
You can start to book FP's straight away - I was able to select a FP whilst waiting at rope drop before the park officially opened.
It includes Photopass so make sure you take advantage of that on the days you have MP - ride photos and the photographers around the park. If you are doing any character dining then it is good to have the MP on that day. We did Goofy's Kitchen and Minnie's B/F at Plaza Inn and the photos (the one they take at the entrance) was included.
We also did Storytellers but there are no Photopass opportunities there.
You can also book FP's using MP from just about anywhere - after you have already scanned into the park for the day of course. From DownTown Disney, the Disney hotels and the hotels across the road on Harbor which is great if you've gone back for a rest in the arvo you can book a FP later on for when you return to the parks. I read recently that someone tried to book a FP using MP from an airport somewhere and it works so it seems you can pretty much book it from anywhere you happen to be, as long as you've scanned into the parks that day already and purchased MP.
Also note, you can book another FP on MP 90mins later (subject to availability) as opposed to the 2hour window with the legacy FP.
When you return to use the FP you can scan in a few minutes early, I think it's 5mins early that it will allow you to scan in.

Yes, I've booked a MaxPass while sitting in the airport for our flight home.
Had to do something to pass the time....
So once you have scanned your ticket for the day and purchased MP you're set!
Book from anywhere.

Purchasing MP for the family each day can be expensive.
One thing to keep in mind is MP includes all ride photos, character meal photos and photos taken by Disney Photographers.

On days you do not plan to buy MP for the family, you might want to get MP on one ticket just for the photos for the day.

Thank you both for your replies! Very informative and I have a much better understanding. I definitely like the idea of purchasing one MaxPass each day to still take advantage of the PhotoPass.
We bought PhotoPass last April and it was fantastic.
One more question, what is the WiFi like? Obviously this is what we will be relying on for our trip.

We were able to use the Wifi some but I had to rely mostly on my data to using the app for much of my time in the park. My son has a google Pixel phone and he had the best luck with the Wifi as the rest of us have iPhones.

Even still I did not find the app took up that much data.

We bought PhotoPass last April and it was fantastic.
One more question, what is the WiFi like? Obviously this is what we will be relying on for our trip.

There are a few problems with relying on the Wi-Fi for using MaxPass.

1. Wi-Fi isn’t available park-wide, only in very specific spots with limited range. Since the benefit of MaxPass is being able to book from anywhere, anytime, this takes away much of that benefit. You’ll still have to go somewhere specific to get Wi-Fi and can’t just book your next FPs from any line.

2. The Wi-Fi frequently just doesn’t work; you can’t connect even if you’re in the right spot.

I would either invest in having data access or just pull traditional paper FPs, personally. You could still buy MP for one person for Photopass purposes, but I wouldn’t spend the money to get it for FPs if I was limited to the Wi-Fi hotspots to actually book those FPs.

MaxPass is $10 per person, per day.
I have not heard of Multi-Day discounts for MP

$10 isn't bad. Probably worth it for a day to get all the photos.

Thank you for this info! I don’t think I’ll rely on the WiFi and and I don’t want to pay for roaming to use my data on top of MP prices.
I do like the idea of purchasing one just to access the photos.
