Hi,
SOmeone had a link in a post about a week ago that identified a website that contained advice on how to maximize the dining plan. It was not mousesavers and it was not allearsnet. I have searched and gone back through old posts. Does anyone remember the nameof the link andor the post?
I had gone and looked at the website at that time and it was a goldmine of information.

Thanks.

Hi! :wave2:

I pm'd someone about this last week. Here's the response I got. It's not the website you are talking about, but there are several posts that give examples of using the dining plan.

"I found several other good ones that itemize or at least give specific examples. I hope this helps, good luck."

I read an article on mousesavers recently about maximizing your dining plan. It listed the cost for eating at restaurants in WDW including tax and tip per adult. It was broken down into categories and listed them in order of most expensive to least expensive. MAybe it can give you the info you are looking for.

Most of the "maximizing." the dining plan involves finding the most expensive place and maximizing the retail price of the food over what it costs for the dining plan.
But what is the goal here? It's to maximize YOUR satisfaction, and that's not necessarily done with the highest priced item at the highest price place.

Lets assume you pay the ful $35 per adult per day.
Just think of the sit down as $25 and the counter and snack $10
The key is the sit down.
You will maximize dollars over the $25 using the sit down credit at
1. Dinner
2. A-la-carte places ordering the most expensive thing you can.

You will indeed not come up to it if you do
Breakfast at a buffet. There are one or two breakfasts that will hit the $25 mark with tax and tip but in general, they do not.

But what happens if you like buffets like Boma and/or Character meals. Well you might only see a price of 30-35 including tax and tip at dinner vs the $50 at some A-la-carte places. So to "maximize the plan." would actually make you less happy then not maximizing it.

My advice is to go to all ears net and look at the menus, pick places you like and see if they're over $25. If they are, you're very likely to get your full value out of the plan that day. If they aren't, you're likely not to.

I went with maximizing my Disney experience rather than chasing the most dollars over cost. I have some character meals on my ajenda that if merely maximizing the plan so to speak, I'd do something else.

I think touringplans has tips on maximizing the plan. I know in the book he does. But again he loses sight of the fact that maximizing your happiness is the goal, not just $ over cost.

Thanks for the fast input everyone. The link that I was referring to took me to a site that had lots of tips for using the counter service option for breakfast. I want to use the sit down meals for nice lunches and dinners.

I also already read the mousesavers' tips. That is one of my favorite sites. The other one, however, had a lot more info. :flower:

If you do find this website, please post it as there are many people who would be interested in the information. That being said, I think Cannot wait 4Disney is on to something regarding maximizing value at the expense of fun. I've been stressing over the meal plan since I purchased it, also after much agonizing and tallying up of costs, and have realized that some days I will maximize the plan, but others I won't. I want to do Chef Mickey for breakfast (not maximizing) but I also plan on paying for DS6 out of pocket twice so I can go to Jiko's and Citricos for only $25 + $5 ($5 being half of what I paid for DS6's plan per day). For me, the benefit of having everything paid for and not having to worry if the kids (DD10 and DS6) want dessert, or an appetizer, or even want to try something different but expensive. I do love to eat and I plan on maximizing the plan by ordering items I would not usually order.
