Max People in a Grand Villa?

I'm throwing around the idea of having my bachelorette party at WDW. For cost savings, I'm thinking about renting a Grand Villa using dvc points. What is the maximum amount of people that you've fit in a grand villa? At which resort? Did you feel on top of each other? It would be all adults.

DVC's max occupancy is a hard limit.

You can have a max of 12 people sleeping in room. If you are just using it as central location to host a party then you can have a lot more. I have had 30 people in the one story who were staying in studios and just dropped by for drinks.

TBH, 2 2BR villas will accommodate more people and cost fewer points/less money than a GV. Three studio will accommodate the same number of people (or more) and will cost even less than two 2BRs.

An offsite vacation home might be a better choice as far as privacy and amenities. Many of them have private pools with hot tubs, game rooms and media rooms. And they are much more affordable than a GV.

In what way? There are enough sleeping surfaces for 12 people...1K, 4Q and a queen sleeper sofa. The king is in a rather large bedroom. The queen beds are in the 2 other bedroom, two in each bedroom. The sleeper sofa is in the living room. If you have 12 people, everyone is sharing a bed and two people are on a pullout sofa. Comfortable? I guess it depends on how comfortable people are with sharing beds.

But to be fair to everyone who answered, you asked “what’s the maximum amount of people that you’ve fit in a grand villa?” It could be taken different ways. Are we talking about the maximum number of people registered in the villa? The answer is a hard and fast 12. If you’re talking about having 20-30 guests visiting your villa, the answer would depend on the resort. Some grand villas are 2 stories while others are a single floor. The single-story GVs tend to have larger living spaces compared to the 2-story GVs. They would be more comfortable for a crowd.

We stayed in the BLT GV with ten (6 adults and 4 kids). To me, that was the max I’d do there. DH and I had a bedroom with 2 queens. My parents had the master. My brother and his family (wife and two young kids) had a bedroom (2 queens). One of my kids was on the second floor sofa bed. The other was with us on the second queen bed.

We were usually in the room all at the same time. Thankfully were were in the parks a lot. It was fine for a week, but it’s really nice to have your own space. If we did it again with this group I think we’d get separate rooms.
If it was a short trip (say 4 nights) I’d do it again.

VGF has the largest GV of all DVC resorts, while they all sleep 12. BLT has the smallest GV. Here are the sizes in square feet. VGF 2,800, RIV 2,530, OKW 2,375, AKL Jambo 2,349, CCV 2,237, AKV Kidani 2,201, BWV 2,142, SSR 2,113 and BLT 2,044. I did not include the off site GV’s. Just a heads up in the smaller 3rd bedroom at OKW it has 2 full sized beds, not queen.

As another example, we had a BWV GV several years ago. DH and I had the master, DS and his young daughter had one of the bedrooms (each had their own queen bed), and DD and her husband had the other bedroom (so one queen bed was vacant there). My dad, DSis and DBIL were registered to the room, and theoretically my dad could have slept on the sofa bed and DSis and DBIL in the 2nd queen with DD and her husband - but they slept in a condo off site. Much more comfortable for all concerned in terms of privacy! When we gathered for meals or before/after visiting the parks, we had lots of space to sit and visit, but for sleeping it would have been uncomfortable. Since we had access to offsite condos via my dad's timeshares, it was unnecessary for all of us to sleep there.

We had 11 people in an OKW GV in 2011. Bill and I, our son (recent HS grad) and eight of his friends (also recent HS grads). It wasn't bad, except the girls were absolute pigs in their room. I was embarrassed for the housekeeper to see the mess, so I gathered their towels and put away the clean one on Trash and Towel day. A few of the GVs actually have beds for 13 people but that is only to make sleeping more convenient for the guests, not to permit a 13th guest. There are real beds for 10 guests (usually one king and four queens, but OKW has one king two queens and two doubles). The last two guests will be sleeping on the sleeper sofa in the living room.

If you are renting, the biggest problem will be finding an owner with enough points for your rental. Plus finding someone daring enough to take your rental for a bachelorette party.
