We are going to Disneyland with our two young kids. Dad is only one who wants to Ride Space Mountain. One child and Dad want to ride Big Thunder. Mom and other child do not want to ride any rollercoasters. Can Dad do Maxpass for Space Mountain, and then can we use two of our other tickets to get Maxpass for Big Thunder? Or does Maxpass have to be specific to the ticket holder? For example, can DH use my ticket for another Maxpass? Thanks!

MaxPasses are issued to specific tickets.
As long as you scan the ticket the MP is issued to you're fine.

Since your DH is the only one who wants to ride Space Mountain he should use his MaxPass for something that everyone will ride and use single rider (walk up the exit) for Space Mountain.

Are you planning on riding any of the other FP attractions? (Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion...) If those are the only FP-enabled attractions you're interested in, I wouldn't invest in MaxPass at all - you wouldn't get your money's worth out of it. I'd stick with traditional FP.

If those are the only rides you think you'll need MaxPass for I wouldn't bother unless you want a bunch of photos too. Paper Fastpass is easy enough to get for those rides. I found that MaxPass is really nice if you want to ride lots of Fastpass rides or even a few key ones that you don't want to run across the park to get paper Fastpasses for but if it's only a few then heading to the kiosk to grab a pass isn't too bad.

If you do get one though I think this explains the system best without telling you to do something technically against the rules.

MP is linked to ticket numbers. Other than at the gate, they don't check photos, names, etc. So for instance on our last trip when I took an afternoon break, DD18 was able to use my ticket (via the app) to get an additional FP, either for the same ride twice, or for two different rides (one on her ticket, one on mine). But either way to answer your question, dad could MP one ride and you and kiddo could MP another ride. Or if you don't need your FPs for a time, someone else in your party could use them.

I know that technically letting someone else use your FP is not the way it's supposed to work. But I don't see it as any different than what used to be done in the past ... giving away FPs to total strangers if we weren't going to use them, or me getting a paper FP for DD to use before I left the park for the afternoon.

As others have said, though, if those two rides are the only thing you're getting it for, that would be a waste of $$.

Maybe this has been asked before (by me lol). But for you all that booked and paid in advance like me (Dec trip) and have tickets already (getaway today) do you load your tickets up on the app right away or wait closer to the trip?

Also why can’t we pre pay for our max pass and just not be able to activate or use them until we’re in the parks?

You can if you buy your tickets direct from Disney and if you want MaxPass for the entire length of the ticket. When you purchase your tickets you don't enter specific days, so if you only want to pay for MP on some days but not others the system would have no way to know which days you want. And it's not an option (as far as I've heard) if you purchase from a third-party vendor simply because they don't have access to the system (I'm assuming). Adding MaxPass when you get there is really not difficult so it's probably just not worth it to reconfigure the whole process to allow third-party and partial ticket MP purchases.

Yes he can get a MP for space, you can get him one for thunder and send him a screenshot of it to use.
