Mattress Protector??

We stayed at POR last year and my ds had a small accident. I cleaned it up and pulled back the sheet, and there was a waterproof mattress cover on the bed already.

I thought about the same thing after reading your post....I went to dollar tree and picked up 2 shower curtains to place under sheet and I will toss when we leave. Thanks for making me think about this too. But maybe you can do the same. They are small and easy to fit into luggage.

This is exactly what we use to do too. Went to the Dollar store and bought the plastic shower curtains
You do have to undo the bed, but on the plus side it covered the entire bed.
Last time they even had the actual mattress covers in plastic.

You might want to do a google search of "underpads". It's what hospital use for under their patients. Our cats like to "mark" our bed so these on go there. Also, my father is incontinent and my stepmother loves to have these to help him. They aren't really that big and you can just slip them under or over the sheet on the bed and no worries. They work extremely well. The only problem would be you would have to wash them in the laundry should anything happen.

I ordered some of these for my DD when she was little. It went under her crib sheet.. 15 years later I now bring them to hotels when it is "that time of the month" due to her being cursed with terrible heavy times.

They are quilted Cotton on one side and a mint green weave on the other. I think the size we have are 36x24 maybe?? They wash very well.. And fold and fit in a suitcase no problem. They don't have plastic on the outside, so no crackling ..I got them from an adult incondinence place that rented warehouse space from us.

This is as close as I could find real quick

My DD21 at the time was in a car accident and sustained a permanent severe brain injury in May 2010. We decided to all go to Disney in Feb 2011 while she was still pretty bad off. I asked the CM's if they provided "pee pads" and they said sure, no problem. When we got to the Poly we reminded housekeeping to put on the pad on for her. Can you guess what they considered a pee pad? A sliced open garbage liner. :rotfl2:

I would definitely bring your own. That dang garbage liner crinkled all night long.

DD is doing MUCH better now by the way, walking and talking and volunteering at the animal shelter.

That's right. I thought I read somewhere that all Disney hotels have waterproof mattress covers over the mattress. Even so, I'd still put a pull-up on at night.

We just returned from 11 days at Coronado Springs. They had them on the beds when we got there. They look like a regular mattress pad, soft, quiet...but they have a waterproof liner. It had a label on it, indicating that it was waterproof.

I bet all Disney resorts use them. If yours doesn't....they should at least have access to them from the resorts that use them standard (like CSR).

With all the kids that visit...Disney would be stupid NOT to protect the mattresses!

even just for preservation sake..with all the people sleeping on them..shedding on them, I would think a mattress cover would prolong the life of the mattress

How true!!

We stay at DVC resorts, and my daughter has had a couple accidents in the past: once on the sleeper sofa and once on a sleeper chair at BLT. Both mattresses had leak-proof protection.

I think that it would be pretty gross to sleep on a hotel mattress that didn't have a clean mattress protector on it :crazy2:.

Now I just need to figure out what brand they were so I can buy them for all our mattresses -- just in case. I'll make sure to check in March when we are back. Thanks!
Just got back. In case anyone else was wondering what brand of mattress protector DVC uses, I checked, and they are Sobel Westex SobelDry. The only place you can buy them is directly from the manufacturer. I just bought some using a 35% off retailmenot coupon. These working amazingly well especially for being wash so often with commercial use. Literally saves the mattress.

You might want to consider a flannel backed tablecloth.

We used this when our son was in that "training" stage. Flannel to the mattress keeps it from shifting too much. Often you can find these fairly inexpensively at discount stores. ($ General, Family $, etc.)

Then you can simply toss it at the end of the vacay to save room in the luggage.

I have also done this. Although I keep allergy casings on all our mattresses in the house, it's an excellent idea for when small children will be sleeping on your sofa, etc.

Sorry ... haven't read all the posts so maybe it's been said before.

Anyway, to prepare for our upcoming trip we purchased BED UNDERPADS from Costco.ca. Don't know if they have it on the Costo.com site since we're from Canada.

Brand: Silvertouch Antimicrobial Underpad (size: 32" x 36")

We'll probably bring a sheet to put over the underpad since it sits on top of the mattress. If you're at a hotel, you can probably just ask for an extra bed sheet.

In case of any accidents, we just remove the underpad and the original mattress & sheets will (hopefully) be dry. The underpad is washable.

Haven't used this brand yet but I have used similar products and I like the idea of something that sits on top of the mattress so the original sheets & mattress can stay dry.
