I just want to see if I am toally off base on this, as perhaps I dont understand the ocntract correct. If I was to buy a 150 point ak contract I would get the 150 08 points that i would normally get, plus an extra 150 points with my use year, plus another 150 points for ssr valid for 1 year. And I would not have to pay mf on my 300 points i get this year but cant use them till next year when it opens up? so basically I get 450 points for "free"? If that is the case I could rent out those "free" points, even at 10.00 a point and that would lower my cost to like 66 a point, am I totally off here?

I think you have one set too many points in there.

You would get 2008 Use Year points for AKV. Those couldn't be used until at least May 1, 2009, so you'll probably have to bank them.

Your second set of AKV points would come on the UY anniversary in 2009.

Plus you get a set of SSR points to use now.

Maintenance wouldn't start until May '09 and should be a pro-rated share of the '09 dues for the period May to December.

Oh, and the minimum purchase is 160 points so you'll have to get at least that many.

i see so the extra points is just the 2008 points, not double the 08 points. so you would have 300 free points, i realize you have to do 160 but that doesnt affect my per point math, so then it is 76 per point if you rented out your 300points at 10/point, which is cheaper than a ssr resale even. makes it even more interesting

Depends upon your perspective, I guess.

If you rent the bonus points and the 2008 AKV points, you don't have any to actively use until the 2009 Use Year.

Many Use Years are still in their 2007 year. If you were to find a SSR contract with 2006 BANKED points available plus the current '07 points then you could theoretically rent '06, '07 and '08 to be on equal footing with your AKV example.

Just depends on how far out you want to play the rental game. Most people seem to buy with the intention of using the points.

thanks for the input, i plan on using my points, however i would not be going next year so thats why i was thinking of the rental idea. I thikn it owuld be hard to find a ssr contract like that, most of the ones i have seen are stripped of points till 09 anyway but i am sure you can always get lucky and find one.
