Matching Shirts!

Dh and I tend to wear polos as our normal clothes, so we always "match" in Disney because of that. Occasionally we even wear the same color. My goal last trip was to get dh and I into orange polos (and my Mickey halloween skirt) and get a pic in front of the coach. After getting our orange shirts soaked in a freak monsoon right before party # 2 started, we hung them to dry and put them back on for party #3 to get the shot.

YES! We have some that I made and others that we bought. Usually we buy same design, different colors. We have the 4 parks, 1 world and the retro WDW logo shirts in different colors. I have ones that I made with parks, resorts, etc. Then we have coordinating ones like boys in Mickey, girls in Minnie. The guys have Star Wars, DS has a lego star wars. DD and I have "I'm the Mom, feel free to treat me like a queen" and "I'm the daughter, princess" shirts that we love to wear, too. They have a Mickey head with a crown and scepter. We have Phineas and Ferb, too. DH has Perry, DS has Ferb, DD has Candice and I have Isabella.

We have so many at this point that we have a separate Disney wardrobe that is only worn at Disney. Makes it really easy to pack :thumbsup2

Ok so I won't use the word "dumb" but I just don't "get it". It just seems silly to me.

"Silly." As opposed to the general serious nature of WDW. ;) Who could possibly consider wearing matching shirts in a location that sells at least 12 different kind of Goofy ears.:lmao:

Some people love matching shirts, but it's just not for me, although I definitely wouldn't call it dumb or such. I just can't ever see myself wearing matching shirts in almost any circumstance. I don't mean to offend anyone, especially all those who enjoy it. In fact, I like seeing others with their matching shirts as many are really very creative, but it just isn't my cup of tea. Now give me a set of Mouse Ears, and I will rock them at every possible moment!

But if you and your boyfriend like the idea, then why not? It sounds like a great event for that kind of thing! I would imagine it's pretty warm at MNSSHP & tees sound like the way to go! As for designs, I think our other DISers have given you some great tips!

DH and I usually wear the same color simply because it is easier to spot each other. We separate often and then meet back because we like different attractions. I used to always forget what color he was wearing but now I just look down at what I'm wearing. I wish I was there now.

For us, it's a matter of safety. We're going with 4 young children (4.5, 2.5 x 2, and 1.5). On our park days we'll ALL have matching shirts. That way, if a kid gets separated from the group they can tell a CM (or other adult) that "Mommy/Daddy is wearing a shirt just like mine." While I don't anticipate any of the kids getting loose since we do have such a great adult/kid ration, I was that kid that got away from my folks and remember how scary it was. Probably an irrational fear but hey, we're all allowed to have them, right???

:lmao: Ahhh I LOVE IT!!! We have a few of those "I don't do matching t-shirts" people in our crowd too!! What a perfect Solution!!!! :rotfl2:

We're putting "Party Pooper" on my husband's shirt for our trip! He won't wear the matching Mickey ones I'm doing for everyone else, but he has no problem wearing the same color shirt stating that's he's the party pooper! Hey, every party needs one, right?

Silly as in "Not fun or funny".

How can matching shirts be "dumb" in a crowd full of people of all ages wearing mouse ear and duck bill hats, when you know ice cream tastes better if it has ears, people tear up watching costumed performers in front of a Florida castle and adults race like maniacs to get a fast pass?

Family shirts seem pretty normal in that environment if you ask me.

The talented people over on the Creative DISigns board are AMAZING!! I had names made for everyone in our group and have made t-shirts for everyone and backpacks for the kids. I can't wait to give them to them when we get to Florida. My husband's adult son thinks I am making shirts that all have our last name on the backs. He is so excited just at that thought that he probably won't even know what to do once he sees what I have really done. We have two sets of shirts for everyone...the first set we all have our names with the same castle and fireworks filling our names. Then the second set each person has their own character in the name fill. On the back of each one, there is a Mickey head that says, "Elizalde Family Vacation" "Our first trip". I also made two more for my husband and myself that say "Disneyworld or Bust May 2011". My honey doesn't know about those so it will be fun to surprise him too since he was so helpful in making the other ones.:cool1:

It better not be dumb...I'm making 4 days worth of matching shirts for our family! Each day gets a different design--most with our names on them!

This is an awesome post. :thumbsup2

There are 11 of us going this year. :cool1: I found red Mickey shirts on line through the Disney store for $8 each & free shipping. My husband and daughter say they refuse to wear matching shirts. I remind my daughter that she never had a problem wearing matching shirts for Show Choir, when she was in high school. She reminds me that at age 24 she has outgrown matching shirts. I love the idea of making a shirt that says "I refuse to wear a matching shirt!" I think that is a must do idea.:rotfl:

My entire family is going the end of November for a family reunion and YEP....there WILL BE MATCHING SHIRTS! At least for our first full day there any way - I think that's the only time I'll be able to get all 14 of us to wear the same thing! The design on the front will have the whole Mickey Gang on it and our family reunion name underneath. The back of each will designate who we are......for example mine will say "daughter #2" on the back while my son's say "grandson #3" and "grandson #4". I picked everything out on zazzle. I LOVE that site!

We all wore just the same color, except my DH. First for kids, so it was easy to spot them in crowds. Second, our photos look great! All the kids in red shirts in a red phone booth in Canada just turned out awesome. All yellow in DHS in the Block Party Bash. Etc. They look so good my husband decided to match us for the next trip, just for photos ;). I think after reading this thread I will try to get some fun stuff put on the backs of them. And we will match colors everyday, then everybody knows what they are wearing when we stumble out of bed for rope drop.

I made matching shirts for our first day -
and wish I had more for the others!
it was so easy to find my family!

I am not crafty so I make our matching shirts on zazzle.com, they have tons o Disney characters to choose from. I also found someone on etsy.com who makes the Mickey tie dyed at great prices in all sizes, she is even making one for my Duffy bear to match ours!. There are tons of Disney shirts on that site too, made by great and crafty people at really good prices, So far I am very happy with everything I ordered, especially out MNSSHP party t-shirts. They are orange with white Mickey mouse ghosts on them (embroidered). My dp and I will wear matching shirts some days but not all. My friend, i don't think she will.
