So this may be a funny question :upsidedow

But I'm SO close to convincing my BF to get matching like Mickey Halloween Shirts made for our first MNSSHP trip. I LOVE when I see people with made shirts and like groups with matching.

But is this a dumb idea? And if not, how can I get ideas for designs? :)

We have worn matching shirts to Disney since 1975, so I am probably not the one to tell you it's dumb.:lmao: Some thing my DH and I started doing on our honeymoon, continued when the boys were small, and now do with kids girlfriends , wives and grandkids. For us it's all part of the fun. I make all of them, many times with signs or pictures from previous trips. The CM's love it when they see something the recognize!

I can't tell you it's dumb either due to the fact that I just got crafty and made some matching shirts for my crew. I've seen some dumb stuff around the parks and matching shirts was not included.

I think it is a great idea! We are all about matching shirts.
Just type in "shirt crafts" in a search engine. Or even the disney family website. They have a bunch of ideas, too.

Ok so I won't use the word "dumb" but I just don't "get it". It just seems silly to me.

Go over to our Disboard forum, the Creative Disigns. I've always done them and have received many compliments. A lot of people usually come up to me to ask excitedly where in Disney did I have them made? I usually have to tell them from home using the computer and the internet. Blank shirts averages $2-5 and the heat transfer paper $1-2/sheet, they look as good as the $35+ ones out there.

It would NEVER happen in this household.I have to beg to get DH to go to Disney as it is.If I made him wear a matching shirt he would mutiny:lmao:

I love matching shirts and wanted to do them for our trip. My dh, dd and ds all told me "NO WAY!!!" They just don't know how to have fun.:sad1:

I made Mickey head tie-dye shirts for me and our four kids. For my husband, I got him a bright green shirt and put "I don't do matching shirts" on it in Mickey font. He really didn't want to wear matching shirts (obviously). Well, he got a TON of attention wearing that shirt. It was too funny. One CM was very insistent that we go into the hat shop and at least buy him a tie dye hat, because he really couldn't be with a tie-dye family and not wear anything tie-dye (we didn't, but it was a fun conversation).

That was the only day we matched (well, we wore them twice on the trip), and I have to say it was so nice to be able to easily pick my kids out of a crowd. :)

I haven't done all of us matching but we are all in Disney shirts and often my boys are in matching shirts (easier to spot them in a crowd:thumbsup2) I second the recommendation for checking out the design board-I used some of their work last year and they were GREAT!!!!

Not dumb at all if you like it!

We just pick 1 day to wear matching T-Shirts. So far we have celebrated different things on these vacations, so we pick the theme of the shirt based on that.

Another thing we do is go to DTD to make them. It is a bit more expensive than doing your own at home, but it adds some excitement to the trip. When we arrive we head to DTD and Design a Tee. Then we design it together, so much fun.
Infact DH insists on it he had so much fun the first time. Of course when people ask him he says I "made" him....lol yeah right. But I let him say that, then I tell them the truth.

For us it is being free, where else would you wear matching clothes??? WDW isn't like the real world, it is ok to be crazy, childlike on these vacations. So go for it if you want to.

We usually do matching shirst one or two days but the best way for me to convince DH is subtly matching our shirts, like we all wear charecters from Toy Story or our favorite Princess, our favorite MK ride, etc. He doesn't put up too much of a fuss with matching shirts now, but every other day I theme the family in one theme or another.

Even though it was just me, DD, and DH for a long time we still had not matching but themed disney shirts, like pooh characters or mickey and pals, but this was when our Disney story was open and we watched to get them on clearance. But I love the idea of matching shirts! I usually just watch the disney direct site for matching shirts and just order them when they go on sale or clearance. One time almost my whole family went and a couple of friends, there was 12, and we managed to get shirts from disney direct at $5 a piece, it was great, people would comment on us and some also had the same shirt on so they would ask if they could join our group, hahaha.

:lmao: Ahhh I LOVE IT!!! We have a few of those "I don't do matching t-shirts" people in our crowd too!! What a perfect Solution!!!! :rotfl2:

We tend to do coordinating shirts...we'll all wear our Mickey or Jack shirts on the same day, but they aren't the same shirt.

I've also made two sets of shirts that are similar but slightly different. This was the first set (my mom and I had light blue, dh, dd and grandpa had navy) I made with our family Disney motto:

Then for dd's birthday last Oct. I had shirts printed up through Cafe Press. I designed a little bat silhouette with Mickey ears and dd's shirt said "I'm the Birthday Girl!" and the shirts dh and I wore said "We're with the Birthday Girl!"

Dh is a HUGE Disney fan so it's actually more difficult to reign him in than to convince him to wear matchy shirts!

I did them for our last Grand Gathering. For the next one, coming up in October, everyone is boycotting the matching shirt concept, even for MNSSHP.
