Matching shirts at Disney: Family fun or the epitome of geekdom? A poll!

Matching shirts: family fun or geek alert?

  • Sure! What's a matching shirt on vacation, anyway, if not fun?

  • Are you kidding? Doofus alert!

  • Ok for the kids, but not for grownups.

  • Eh, who cares? I'm on vacation!

Maybe you could all wear character shirts in the same color or matching baseball caps to block the sun from your eyes!

I don't mind the matching shirth thing too much now, but depending on how old your kids are, you may want to check. I know that from about 10-18 I didn't want to look like I was with my parents. Oh well.

DH and I are wearing Just Married T-shirts (His says "Mr. &" on the front and "Married" on the back, mine says "Mrs." on the front and "Just" on the back)
We also have shirts with Big Pritch and Lil Pritch on the back and Just Married on the front--pics at the bottom of my knot bio

I think we're just big geeks about it--but we'll have a great time!

Doofus alert in a grand way, works great on little kids but not for me

I think it's a great idea... and promotes the family bond. I don't think I would wear matching shirts around our home town... but we're not talking about just anywhere... we're talking about WDW. I'm hoping to get matching shirts for my mother, sister and sister's friend for our November trip... and maybe a tiara for each of us too!!! Wouldn't that be cool!!! hehe

:wave2: princess:

Doofus, but I love it and would totally do it, if only I could convince the rest of my family. I bought matching Disneyland t-shirts for next year - my poor friend and her mom have no idea what they're getting into! ;)

Hey Dungeon and Dragon fans, Star Trek wannabe's, and commissioners of all those fantasy football leagues, please step aside for the new rulers of the geek universe; a family of five all wearing bright yellow tshirts and matching red hats. They're making their way up Main Street USA at this very moment.

Well my family doesn't match when we're on vacation, but I don't think there's a problem with it when families do. It's easy to keep everyone together when you're matching. I also think it's cute when kids are matching.

When I was younger, my mother and grandmother would always buy my sister and I matching outfits. So a lot of times we would wear the same things going out, especially at WDW. And sometimes my mom would also match with us.

LOL!!! Too funny!!! I voted for "doofus" too. Would never do that and would never wear a fanny pack either.

On our Alaska cruise last summer we saw a group of people (all adults) wearing bright pink matching shirts. They were all women except for 1 man (at least that I saw). I couldn't believe that the man didn't have the *ahem* to say NO. I would hope that my DH would if I ever became that senile.

So cheezy! It's amazing that anyone can get their kids into matching shirts without them having the  look frozen on for the duration of the vacation.

I think it's fine to put the kids in matching clothes, cute even. Heck, I put my boys in matching clothes sometimes for portraits.

But, the whole family/group matching is a bit much for me

I think we might do matching when the 4 of us go next summer. Not everyday though (my dd will probably be in Princess attire most of the time). Come on I need some dorky embarassing photos to pull out and show to their friends when they are teenagers. ;) Definitely one of those only at WDW things!

My kids however (well my dd really) likes to do themes. Shes gonna be Tinkerbell for Halloween, so ds has to Captain Hook (lucky for him thats his favorite), and her little schnoodle puppy is gonna be the crocodile.

My grandparents wear matching outfits there entire trip all over places like Rome and Venice. LOL. Thats a doofus alert, i would never do. But you know what? They've been married 52 years and I love seeing the pics of them traveling the world, holding hands, obviously still very much in love in their matching "kiss me I'm Italian" shirts. LOL. If only I'm doing so well in my 70's.

We did it one time. The day before DD's wedding, 10 of us went to Disneyland wearing custom t-shirts with Disney characters and announcing the wedding. Everyone wanted to know where we got them (DisneyStore.com) including the cast members. We had a great time.

:sunny: :sunny:

People can wear what they want, but you will never find me doing it.

We're going to be one of the doofus families. Ds kinda balked at it, but his Dad took him aside and explained the concept of keeping "the girls" happy. Hee Hee Sometimes I know why I love DH so much.

My husband is severely Disney impaired. He would never wear a matching t-shirt, anyway, whether or not it was Disney related.

My family doesnt do it, but a when I was a CM a few friends and I would wear Jungle Skipper shirts we had made to the Adventurers club on Mon and Thursday nights!

What can I say, we're total geeks!

Jungle Josh:tongue:

We're going to wear some shirts that have 'Montana' on the front of them next month at WDW. My DH does not like the idea 'cause he thinks it will make us a "target"...... I think it seems fun.

When I see tourists around town I ask them about their hometown if they wear something from home. I ran into a lady at the AAA office from Florida and she very much enjoyed that I asked her about her vacation and her home town....she thanked me for my interest.

It is really just a conversation starter and a chance to be friendly.

Pkaroch--my dh and I have those same shirts!!

I voted for matching t-shirts. My family and I always get matching shirts during our trips and no I don't think that it is the epitome of geekdom.

Personally, I think that it makes your pictures look nicer and it's easier to find everyone in a crowd. On our last trip, we didn't wear matching shirts everyday, but we did dress alike or exactly the same on most days. We got a LOT of compliments about our shirts and the way all of us were dressed.
