This has always looked interesting, but I have never been able to get DH to participate. Can anyone give me details about the game? How personal are the questions? Does everyone interested get to play or do they pick random couples? All info is appreciated:)

They choose 3 couples. The couple that has been together the longest, the one that has been together the shortest amount of time, and the one that's been together closest to 10 years.

Some of the questions are personal, like "Where's the strangest place you've ever found the magic?" or something to that effect. Since it's Disney you know they don't get too crazy!

did this on our honeymoon a dozen years or so ago. We were the most recently wed couple at 3 days. We got all the answers correct. Yes, there was the question about where the strangest place where you ....

As a result, we were pseudo celebrities for the rest of the trip it seemed. Could go anywhere without someone bringing that story up. Probably wouldn't do it again.

Actually the one show I watched was rather steamy in the details. There was a description of something happening in a tent, on a camping trip, etc. There were rocks ;) It was fun to be in the audience, but I don't think it'd be fun to answer those questions on a stage.

And BTW, the CMs give you with drinks while getting these answers before the stage portion.

I only know b/c we were watching them interact in Skyline bar before heading back into the "club" to get back up on stage. So they do get alot of info out of you in an intimate setting (with drinks), and then all of a sudden you're answering questions on stage.

We tried to do it on our honeymoon--wore our bride and groom hats and t-shirts and everything--and the host patently ignored us. It was the only sour note of the whole trip. I'm not sure how you host Match Your Mate and ignore the honeymooners!

We were chosen on our January 14th Wonder cruise! It was fun! The "host" manipulated the final score so the couple married 50 years won by 1/2 a point, LOL! If you are married for 50 years you deserve to win! We were celebrating (that very night coincidentally) our 15th anniversary. The host didn't know this until we were on stage so that didn't "help" us get onstage. A couple of questions they asked:
Where was the best place you made "magic" (something like that)
If all your (extended) family was on the cruise, who would your mate throw overboard?
After shutting off the alarm clock in the morning, what is the first thing your mate touches? I just about died answering this one....I kept telling the host I couldn't answer because it's Disney!! I was sooo red! Ugh!

The winners got a bottle of champagne and we all got a gift bag with a DCL water bottle, 2 DCL caps, 2 DCL keychains and a Toy Story calendar. I have pics but have no idea how to upload via my iPad.

I took my parents on the cruise for their 50th anniversary. I was very tired the first night and went to bed. My parents and my DH went to match your mate. My parents got picked. My DH is now scarred for life :scared1: When he told me about it I was so glad I wasn't there. I didn't really want to hear that info from my parents..:scared:

On our last cruise I watched a newlywed couple cheat. I was happy they lost. You could totally see her saying things, covering her mouth, coughing, and he was looking at her mouth as soon as they were reunited and the other couples were answering questions. Someone yelled "quit cheating!"

It was funny and they still lost! pixiedust:

I've also seen a lady get very upset at not getting picked. They were in front of us. They jumped up and downed, yelled, danced and when they didn't get picked the wife was sooo mad. She actually turned her chair around, now facing my hubby and I, crossed her arms and would not watch one bit. It was juvenile it was hilarious. We still talk about her and laugh.

I know DH would never play, I didn't even suggest it. When I suggested going to watch he said " you know I'm not playing right?" lol. We probably would have gotten picked too because we were married longer than anyone else would admit to, 31 yrs. I know there were couples in there married longer than that but they didn't want to play. After it was over we compared what we would have said and we SO would have lost. One question was the thing spouse does that annoys you most. DH said he didn't even know it bugs me when he puts kitchen towels in the sink. Sigh.

Your saying cm's ply the passenger with booze in a different bar to get them drunk or loosened up and ask them questions they probably would not usually answer?

And then suddenly they are thrust on to a stage and have to repeat it?!? :scared1:

:rotfl: I would be afraid my husband would go on for 2 minutes and in a quick fire storm name 1 through 50 and say "take your pick" :rotfl2:

It would be the worst thing ever for me to get picked so we'd definitely be sat at the back keeping quiet.

I can't understand why anyone would want to go on stage and tell hundreds of people about their personal life :confused3

Each to their own obviously, but definitely not for me. :thumbsup2

I never miss this show when I cruise. I find it very funny and entertaining. I could never get my DH to participate though. Even the temptation of a Grand Prize of a bottle of champagne and "Special" couples spa treatment did not entice him enough to volunteer. You have to be a very open person to participate in this type of game and not be embarrassed but they never fail to find volunteers. I'm a little more adventurous than my DH so I allowed a cast member to drag me on stage during one of the Disco Nights and I did a rendition "lipsinking" to a Donna Summers Song that my DH "thoughfully" video taped on his phone so he could show my family - Yikes! I had fun though and I had strangers coming up to me all during the rest of the cruise telling me I did a great job of portraying Donna Sommers. Its all about what you are comfortable doing.
