The AA olci keeps refusing to check us in
it says we need to check in at airport
could this be due to the fact they have us "highlighted due to ds being asd, or that dh and boys are travelling on french passports (and need visas)

I wouldn't panic. I think it's to do with the fact it's an American airline and you are travelling internationally. For example, in May we also couldn't check-in online with Continental and it's due to the fact they require your passport to be inspected first because it's an international flight or something like that

I don't know about other airlines but with Virgin if you have/need a visa you cant do OLCI. I am deep breathing for you. You are going to be fine.

We also found that because we had requested special assistance for DS it meant we couldn't do OLCI - but this was with VA

I'm sure we didn't do online check in with Virgin as DD had a special assistance note.

I'm sure nothing is wrong it's just because of either the passports or special assistance.

We've had this a couple of times; I think it's to do with it not being within 24 hours of your connection flight or something. Anyway we just check in at the airport and have never had any problems

Relax! You'll get on the plane.

Most airlines will block you from OLCI as soon as you've got a need noted done. Not just a need as in "Suzie has a broken toe" but a need as in you need the airline to provide any type of help, assistance, you name it. Those bulkheads are bingo enough, so to say.

Another reason this can happen if the computer decided to give anybody in your party a special security check. That's NOT because they think you've got any B-word plans or any paperwork isn't in order but because these get done randomly.

Another reason this can happen; computers sometimes act up.

Another reason; some airlines will want to see your passport. If they haven't got something on file for that yet; blocked from online checkin. (will be OK next time with same airline and same passport)

There are SO many reasons for not being able to do OLCI, there is no need to worry AT ALL. You'll want to be on the look out for the gate-agent coming back onto the plane to ask you to leave the plane, that tends to be a sign of trouble. But other than that? You'll be OK. I'm so sure of this, I'm willing to bet a make-your-own-treat from Goofies on it!

You'll be fine. Especially since you won't be able to do OLCI this time.

How they treat it depends a bit per airline, as almost everything. One way or another the airline will want your passport info. If not through OLCI -and having it checked before- than through regular check in. For most US carriers, I've seen no real difference between how they treat you at check in, whether you've filled out API or not. I personally never do OLCI, not allowed when traveling with all of my "wishlist"

Without API you shouldn't be able to do OLCI for the US, or at least get a popup first asking you to fill out API. But then again; should, shouldn't, sometimes it doesn't seem to make sense anyway.



And thanks for the compliment! Basically most of it is live and learn combined with some doing my homework. Health; mwah. We're hoping either I can get some last minute medical intervention done as a boost ot if not, things at least stay the same. If so; the trip will go on as planned. If not; I've decided to ignore that.

Done my API's. Just decided to go ahead and do it. I printed it out. Do I need to have any of this info with me at check in if I have done it online? I assume it is all on the system.

You don't need to print it off, it's all there when they swipe your passport.

I know, once the ticker slipped into the 1 month .... zone it does look short all of a sudden. I'm getting excited too. This is the "dangerous home run" where I have to start letting my parents know. So far they think it's Spain as I needed to secure a lift to and from the airport so I had to tell them something. I need to do some research on the area we are "going to" in case of any questions. I have told them I don't want DD to know we're going to Spain so they think that is the surprise. My dad I TERRIBLE with secrets. Mum is brilliant so hopefully she will keep him in check, lol.

DD has been away with them for 2 days and comes back tonight so I have made her a colouring book for the plane, made my ADR and Snack Credit cards, sorted the Disney boxes and all her surprise stash, done my transfers onto my suitcases ..... I feel it has been productive.
