Massachusetts residents traveling after July 1 - quarantine!

For fellow Massachusetts residents, or anyone thinking of traveling to MA this summer - Governor Baker just announced that anyone traveling to MA from anywhere in the US except RI, ME, NH, NJ, NY, CT and VT Including MA residents returning from out of town travel need to self-quarantine for 14 days upon arriving in the state.

This is effective tomorrow, I didn't take much notice of the restrictions before now because we weren't leaving our immediate area at all. Now that restrictions are lifting this will definitely factor into any plans we had to get out of town this summer with the kids. Though it makes me thankful that I don't have Disney plans until next year.

Technically, MA has had this self quarantine in place since late March, but this eases restrictions on the local states that have low case numbers.

We have Disney plans from 7/25-8/8. Does anyone from MA know if we're allowed out for essentials while self quarantining after our trip? Groceries or doctor's visits?

I'm in MA and as I understand it, if you are self quarantining you should be sending someone out to get groceries for you or having them delivered, and try and postpone any non-emergent doctor's visits during the quarantine period. The Self-quarantine is more restrictive than the stay at home order was.

More accurately, the announcement removed visitors from these seven states from the 14 Day self quarantine recommendation.

This is not in ANY way any additional restriction. It modifies the existing March restriction by allowing adjacent states' residents - plus ME and NJ - residents free access.

Very unlikely. That defeats the purpose of quarantine.

Quarantined visitors to Hawaii have been arrested for making grocery stops. I'm not from MA, but I did have to undergo 10 days of quarantine after getting tested for Covid (negative), & I was told to never leave the house.

No you can not go anywhere. That is why it is called quarantine. You must stay at home at all times for a full 14 day period. No going to the grocery store or dr visits.
