I thought I heard once, that there was somewhere on Disney Property (Polynesian maybe?) where Catholic mass was held. Maybe it was just referring to a major holiday like Christmas or Easter. But has anyone heard of a Saturday/Sunday mass on property?

RELIGIOUS SERVICES
Guests of Catholic faith can visit the Mary, Queen of the Universe Shrine. Guests of Protestant faith can visit the Celebration Presbyterian Church. Guests of Islamic faith can visit the Islamic Center of Orlando. Guests of Jewish faith can visit the Celebration Jewish Congregation. Taxi service to attend religious services can be arranged through Mears taxicab service at 407-422-2222.

On the above link to Queen of the Universe, there's a link explaining why Mass is no longer celebrated at the Poly. It was getting crowded on site, but it was a wonderful setting and service to the guests who do not have cars. They were still having it in the summer of '01, but River Country was opened then too, times have changed. :(

I think they discontinued services at the poly about 4 years ago.

Thanks for the info.! I imagine that mass at the Poly was beautiful! But the Shrine is also quite beautiful. Thanks again!

:Pinkbounc Mass at the Shrine is a wonderful experience and we have been there many times. I was wondering if anyone has had the experience of Monsignor Hart asking the question "Is anyone here from Ireland?" in his authentic Irish accent. He makes everyone feel welcome as he mentions several cities and states. :Pinkbounc

Are casual/park clothes OK at the Shrine or do you all get dressed up more?

You'll see everything from shorts and sandals to jackets and ties.

Most people dress a little bit "up" -- polo shirt and nice slacks, for example.

It's a beautiful church, and my wife and I love going there. They also have daily mass in a small chapel (with a beautiful blue window behind the altar) and priests are available for confession most of the time. All you have to do is ask.

GREAT gift shop, too! :thumbsup2

Yes, it was a wonderful setting for Mass. Shame it's no longer there, but I do remember it being standing room only. I can understand why they had to discontinue it.

I do believe they have Mass on Christmas and Easter. Any other time, you have to go off property - not very convenient when you're relying on WDW transportation. If you're interested, its approximately $15-17 for a taxi ride from WDW resort area each way.

Actually, we had a CM tell us they had to discountinue it because they didnt' offer services for all of the other faiths. I'm not sure how true that is, but that's what they told us! When we were there it wasn't too crowded and it was June.
