(I apologize if this thread is in the wrong place/if someone has posted a thread similar to this :))

Hi, friends!
So, it looks like during this phase of reopening, WDW and other Disney parks (Universal and Six Flags too!) are requiring employees and guests to wear masks and respect social distancing guidelines. While I completely understand this (and am not looking to debate, though there is an excellent thread about this https://www.disboards.com/threads/h...-at-disney-parks.3801147/page-9#post-61878646), I am curious about how long people see this regulation being in place?
I personally cannot imagine wearing a mask in WDW-given the heat/humidity, challenges for guests/employees with disabilities such as Autism, challenges for guests/employees with severe respiratory issues such as asthma who already struggle, etc. While I will most likely stay out of the parks until wearing a mask is no longer deemed necessary, how long do we think it WILL be necessary for?

Until things die down, maybe end of summer maybe end of fall, no one knows but it can only go so long especially as more businesses normalize.

Masks indirectly give an appearance of an unsafe environment, so Disney will want to end it as soon as they can.
Those who actually believe masks are necessary and important are the same people who will not go to Disney under any circumstance. While those that will wear the mask and be annoyed about it would be willing to go without it. There is only a very small group who would only go to Disney with masks.

Since mask requirements have been in effect for almost a month data should soon tell whether they’re working or not.

Lost virus outbreaks are a bell curve. If we do things properly such as wearing masks we can come down the backside of the curve. As we come down the backside we can look at lightening up restrictions.

so the better we do the sooner we can look at getting rid of them.

wow, , like seriously, the official information from Disney has been out a few hours and already there is a debate about long it will last.

Just deal with it, this is what it is. Face coverings are required and you have a choice, wear the mask and experience Disney or stay at home.

Until one of the following happens:

- There's an effective, safe, readily available treatment
- There's a vaccine
- We achieve herd immunity
- Infection rates plummet and stay well below R1 for an extended period of time

In reality, I really don't see the mask requirement being lifted until next spring. Current infection rates aren't expected to drop significantly anytime soon, a vaccine is at least another year away if not longer, and while I *do* think it's possible we'll have a treatment by the end of the year, I'm not convinced they'll remove the mask requirement in the middle of flu season, when it is highly anticipated we'll see another outbreak of Covid. So... I really think we're looking at next spring.

No need to be snippy, it was a simple wondering. Masks are difficult for many different populations. Like I said, I am not looking to debate.

The mask debate has been ongoing across multiple thread on multiple section of Disboards. Opening another mask thread just adds fuel to the fire, so you will get a debate whether you like it or not.

Frankly its tiresome, that people just can't accept that face mask and covering are going to be a requirement by Disney and many others for a long time to come. Thats just the way it is, so you can accept it, deal with it and go back to doing things or you can stay at home, your choice!

Was never meant to be a debate, this thread was a question on when people think the regulation will be dropped.

I would think until the confrontations between guests regarding masks gets too out of hand, at which point they will probably require them for employees and **highly encourage** them for guests . What I mean is, people freaking out on others that they see with no masks on regardless of the reason (ADA exemption, eating, other valid reasons whatever those may be)

Ditto!
