Mask Confusion Already

The issue is one of trust. It's safe for vaccinated people to go around without masks, but not safe for unvaccinated people, particularly including children too young to be vaccinated. I can't speak for others, but I've seen so much refusal to wear masks here before the vaccine was widely available that I do NOT trust that Joe Q Public going around maskless is actually fully vaccinated and therefore not a risk to my kid. And yes, my kid will still be wearing a mask, but that only provides SOME protection. Masking by all provides a lot more. And lets face it, kid mask compliance isn't perfect, they're little kids.
"Safe" can be interpreted different ways. I feel my 10yo is safe going maskless. She has been closely exposed to covid twice and had no symptoms. I feel she is immune and not a super-spreader based on the research I have done.

What research? Why would she be immune? My kids were closely exposed and tested negative, and then exposed and tested positive with symptoms, 3rd try is the charm.

I think you are forgetting about the blood disorder (clot) deaths that were confirmed. The point of the previous poster was that consumer goods pull products all the time for one death.

Very few deaths given all of the people that received the vaccine. This is a non-issue. You have appliances in your home that are more likely to kill you than this vaccine.

And we could go on and on about how likely you are to die from other things besides the virus, but that is neither here nor there as well.

Pretty sure I never said anything about no deaths. The article doesn't either. However, the number of deaths have been greatly exaggerated by a certain member of the media.

I also admit that you said that there have been deaths but not how many. Going off past posts I believe you and I do not agree on what we both believe to be truths or facts on this subject. I believe the vaccine is safe and effective but with all vaccines or medicine in general some, as in a very low percentage or numbers, have adverse reactions.

This will vary SO much by region! If your state still has a mandate it doesn’t matter what the CDC says. If your state doesn’t have a mandate it’s up to individual businesses. There is no mandate or law saying a business can’t enforce mask wearing so businesses are free to do what they want. How much a business (in a state without a mandate) will enforce their own rules will vary greatly! In some areas having the requirement helps their business, as people in those regions generally feel more comfortable with mask wearing, in other areas having the requirement will hurt business as people in those regions do not want to wear masks anymore. In my area there has never been a state mandate. Compliance was fairly high during the fall but has fallen drastically. I don’t know of any place that is enforcing mask wearing except doctors offices. Stores still have the signs up but they say nothing and I’d say we’re about 40/60 with those who are still wearing masks.

Our State just announced no mask only if you're fully vaccinated AND the business can check patrons. I'm going to continue to wear my mask indoors, I haven't been sick in over a year knock on wood.

I like masks. Too many disease carriers. And my significant other has saved a lot of money on makeup by wearing masks.

I think if an individual does not feel comfortable then they should do what makes them feel that way. But one persons fear should not affect the freedoms of another.

You keep saying it’s about freedom which is HILARIOUS because a) it has nothing to do with freedom and b) you have already said yourself that you have no problem with “no shirt, no shoes, no service” which is also about “freedom.”

So maybe stop pretending you care about that at all. As though having to wear a mask for public health takes away any of your freedom. It does NOT.

”With new guidance advising fully vaccinated Americans that they no long need to wear masks in most circumstances, indoor or outdoor, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) director is 'cautiously optimistic that we are seeing this great, great end point in sight,' she told the Today show on Friday.

Despite telling fully vaccinated Americans they could shed their masks indoors less than 24 hours earlier, Dr Walensky suggested that parents teachers should keep theirs on when in public with their unvaccinated kids and in classrooms.

'Parents and perhaps even teachers may want to continue wearing masks to model behavior' for children who haven't been vaccinated, Dr Walensky said.

The change to the CDC's guidance came after Dr Walensky was grilled by lawmakers over previous advice.

Just two weeks ago, the CDC finally said that it was safe for fully vaccinated Americans to go without masks outdoors, so long as they were not in crowds.

Shortly thereafter, the new guidelines advising vaccinated people they can take off their masks indoors was issued - but it, too, comes with caveats.

Masks are still supposed to be worn in some crowded indoor settings like planes and buses - by nearly 119 million fully vaccinated Americans, and unvaccinated people alike - but not in others crowded areas.

And Dr Walensky said that some Americans may choose to continue wearing masks, and encouraged parents and teachers to do so, but generally punted the issue to Americans to figure out whether or not to wear masks.

'We've empowered the American people to make their own decisions,' she said

She acknowledged the potential confusion that might arise from telling fully vaccinated people they can safely sit next to a coughing person in a bar without a mask, but they must keep one on on a plane, where research suggests the risk is quite low”

We have seatbelts, airbags, car seats, speed limits and traffic laws that include measures against reckless and drunk driving, texting and driving etc. It’s a risk to get in a vehicle but we try to mitigate it the best we can to protect ourselves and others.
um, yea. The original topic was a poster was pointing out that a 12 year old boy was seriously affected by Covid. I was simply saying a single incidence (generally) doesn't prove a trend or something to react to.

I am shocked they lifted mask recommendations. Sure keep borders closed but let everyone on the inside toss masks aside. As we all know there are many who are not fully vaccinated by circumstance and choice and will simply not wear masks even if they are not at that recommended level of immunity. Wanna bet in a week we see zero masks and what is the vaccination rate? wont match. I know the US is very well ahead with vaccinations, but honestly the way this virus spreads, no where near the "herd" levels needed. Especially seeing kids under 12 are still vunerable.

Weeks ago the CDC literaly said "doom" if we are not careful and rush and within 6 weeks the world has changed? intersting..
That was my thought. Wasn’t she just crying like a month ago?

If you are vaxxed and have a mask, then you shouldn't be worried about others AT ALL
I don’t know what you aren’t understanding, I’m not worried about getting covid, not at all, BTDT. I am loving getting freedom back, and I don’t need a bunch of people who don’t feel rules apply to them infecting each other and putting us back in lockdown. You need to be vaccinated or wear a mask, what in the world makes you so special that the public safety rules don’t apply to you? That you can infect those unvaccinated due to medical reasons and/or age? How incredibly self centered.
