Mask Confusion Already

People are just plain rude, ignorant and self centered.
Any business can ask, request, mandate a mask rule. At the very least, we all should adhere to these "requests".
OR DO YOUR BUSINESS Elsewhere. I don't think I'll be throwing my masks away anytime soon because there will be many places that I frequent where it will be mandated. I"M OK with that!

If my friend has a no smoking policy for her home do I light up anyway- of course not!
If my friend has a no shoes on the carpet in her house, do I intentionally not take mine off -of course not!
If my friend asks that I not swear in front of her children, do I intentionally start dropping f bombs anyway-of course not!

I am all for ditching the masks but this is going to be so difficult for store owners.

When the state had a mandate in place, you at least had the excuse that it wasn’t your choice and everyone entering your business had to wear one. Now (in many states) governors are leaving it up to each individual business.
each business has to decide which group to alienate. I would’t want to have to make that decision.

Its not difficult. If you’ve been following CDC guidance and following the science all along then continue to follow it. That’s what people and businesses have been preaching for 14 months. But now they don’t know what they should do?

Hershey park has already dropped their mask mandate.

I disagree. I think businesses are damned if they do and damned if they don’t. If the business owner leaves it up to an employee if they were a mask or not you risk alienating people who won’t come into your business without everyone wearing masks.

if you as a business owner requires masks and the business door doesn’t, your risk everyone going to his business who doesn’t want to wear a mask.

There is nothing wrong with a business owner requiring his/her employees to wear masks. But requiring masks for customers when there is no mandate is a poor business decision.
I will always choose the business allowing freedom over the one restricting it

I was under the impression that it was up to the Governor of each state to decide when the mask mandate is lifted, no matter what anyone 'higher up' says. Our state (MD) still requires masks for indoor places.

CDC recommends mitigations
State government produces mandates
City governments can create stronger mandate
Businesses can create an even more stronger mandate.

Not really. Our Governor never issued a mask mandate. But the Mayor of a nearby large city did, and our county bows to whatever they do and implements the same. So we have had a mandate since last May and it continues today.

That said, I've been very supportive of the mask mandate up to this point. But the time has come for it to end. Hopefully soon.
There are still governors that are enforcing a mask mandate. I wonder why they don't trust the CDC and their scientific approach?

Is the "No shirt no shoes" thing a state government department of health mandate, or an individual business rule?

100% I always choose not to do business at those requiring masks, and will always choose to spend my money at those who do not require it.

But it is also up to the business to enforce their own "posted rules".

Individual....go to Hawaii, California, beach towns...a lot of business in those areas don't require it..

But i don't take issue with those rules so it doesnt affect whether I spend money there.. The mask rules do affect where I do business

I agree with this. And eventually I will stop going to places that require masks. I am not to that point yet. But I don't understand people that walk in and refuse to abide by the establishments rules. Just don 't go.

Ours is still required. This is brand new, I support our governor for not dropping it immediately. It’s a guideline. The last thing I want is for unvaccinated people to start spreading it around and get everything shut down again.

I don’t think the amount of unvaccinated people would overwhelm hospitals and cause a shutdown.

I just saw an article this morning saying that a number of local businesses (including our largest grocery chain) plans on continuing their mask requirement, even after our state drops it's mandate on June 2nd. As others have said, businesses still have the right to set their own requirements.

You single out unvaccinated people...almost as if you are not trusting the science that says vaccinated people can also spread it...

I hadn’t heard about Hershey, that is great news!!
I still disagree and think it’s a hard decision for businesses to decide what to do.
All you have to do is read comments here or on any social media comment section and some people are still petrified of their own shadows. There are tons of vaccinated people that will not enter a business unless masks are mandated for everyone.
I am fully vaccinated , If there were 2 similar businesses in my area, I would choose the business that doesn’t require masks.
