It appears that, after the tsunami, there was no loss of life at Marriott's Phu-ket Beach Club in Thailand--a DVC II trade. I don't know if any DVC members were there at the time. But the following notice appears on the Phu-ket Beach Club's website:
Marriott Vacation Club International is pleased to report that all guests and associates of Marriotts Phu-ket Beach Club have been accounted for following the tidal wave that hit Phu-ket, Thailand on December 26, 2004.
Despite the magnitude of the tidal wave, which resulted from an earthquake off the island of Sumatra in the Indian Ocean, damage at the resort was confined to the beach, gardens and pool area. Two beachfront restaurants and a number of ground-level beachfront suites that sustained minor damage are expected to reopen in about 10 days. The pool will reopen immediately following clean-up. All other restaurants and facilities at the resort are open and operating.
