I can get a suite at both of these hotels for the same price. I believe they are about the same distance from Disneyland entrance. Residence Inn may take a little longer to get there. We will be going the first week of October with 6 people.

Which one of these would you choose and why?

Thanks for your help!

Desert Palms is slightly closer I think in terms of walking, but I would choose the Residence Inn. If you get a chance, listen to the podcast review of it (sorry, I don't have the link). I almost chose Residence Inn for our trip (chose a different hotel because I had membership points) because more home-like and more like having an apartment to come back to.

Thanks! Residence inn does look nicer. Desert Palms has 3 actual beds and Residence Inn has 2 Queen beds and sofa bed.

I also would go with the RI. The staff is super nice there. They will even do your grocery shopping and put things away. Plus, it's nice to have the hot breakfast and manager's special to help stretch the budget.

Which Residence Inn? There are three in the area.

RI Maingate, RI Anaheim Resort Convention Center and RI Anaheim Resort Garden Grove.

If it is the RI Anaheim Resort Convention Center, it is a no brainer, choose it.

I stayed at a 1 bedroom suite with full kitchen at Desert Palms and we loved it. We preordered groceries from VONN that were delivered before we arrived and perishables were put away. We had a bedroom with 2 beds and a door that closed to separate it from the living room/kitchen area. The living room had a sofa bed. Our room was just down the hall from the laundry room and we did laundry the last night to go home with clean laundry. The staff were all very friendly though I don't remember interacting very much with them other than check in and saying hi when we returned. The free breakfast was nice and satisfied all of us. We never had a problem getting a table. The pool area is outside by surrounded by the building so not visible from the street. The kids had a great time hanging out with other kids in the pool even when they spoke different languages while we enjoyed time in the hot tub.

I loved the location. There is a 7-11 next door on the corner of West Katella and Harbor. You don't need to cross Harbor to walk to the park which took us 10 minutes. We had the unlimited ART pass (booked at home) and could either get an ART in front of the hotel and a long ride or just cross Harbor and take any shuttle to the next stop which was DL.
