Marriott owners using OKW transportation

Absolutely. First time I drove to MK I didn't realize I still had a boat or mono ride waiting for me.

Always debating about this at our house. DH likes to drive to MK, I prefer the bus. We drove on Sunday 3/23. Got on a tram and sat while a couple loaded their stroller, took it off, tried to fold it up, stared at it for a while, tried again, stared at it some more. I swear, we sat there for 15 minutes while these people looked at their stroller with their hands on their hips. The CM's said nothing. They finally put it back on the tram, unfolded, and we took off. Good thing we weren't in any hurry that day. Diana

My home is BWV and usually I stay there. My last trip I left MK at about 5:30 to go back, relax and eat dinner. when I got to the bus pick-up for BWV the line was huge. While on the bus several people were talking about getting their car and going back to their hotel. I also being nosy asked them where they were staying and why they were parked at the BW. well 2 different couples stated that they were staying off site but park at BW, they then walk over to Epcot and use Disney trans for the day and then come back to BW at the end of the day. I wasn't to happy about this but was told by the CM that there was no way to monitor every person coming and going in Disney.

The Boardwalk resort area is basically a public access attraction. You don't need to be an on-site guest to be welcome there. Guest eating at Spoodles,Flying fish,ESPN,etc are entitled to park at Boardwalk. Walking into Epcot and using the transportation system is just a natural extension of what WDW is already allowing them to do.

While I agree that pasking at the BW to use the amenities of the BW is welcome, the people we are talking about are not doing this. What they are doing is parking in the lot that already is overcrowded then walking through the BW straight to Epcot. From there they will use the Disney trans system to go around disney then simply return to the BW, pick up their car and leave. I don't believe this what they are allowed to do.

Maybe the Marriott owners just wanted to see what a real CLASSY TIMESHARE looks like!!! LOL:smooth: :smooth: :smooth:

Maybe. Personally, I think Sarasota Springs will have more trouble with "pool crashers", than "illegal parkers".

FWIW, I just can't imagine that there are very many off site people who park at OKW to "take advantage" of the Disney transportation.

A while back I remember in a member's survey a question about whether we members were willing to pay more for increased bus service to the resorts. Wouldn't this assume that we are already paying dues for use of bus service to our particular resorts and then further, if non DVC people are filling up the busses and they feel a need to have more busses, whether you personally ride the busses or not, then wouldn't they increase our dues to pay for the added loads on the current system? It seems at the least at the DVC resorts if we are paying for the bus system w/ our dues then we are entitled to have them check for membership to ride as it is something we are paying for, not the general pass holders to the rest of WDW. Just a question, am I seeing this wrong or what?

It doesn't seem that it would be so bad to flash a room key when we get on the buses. It might add time to the transportation process, ie all the folks that would have to fish for their keys while boarding the bus. Sounds like it's more of a problem at BWV, and I have found those buses to be much more crowded. Standing room only every time. The trade off would be slightly longer waits for the bus, is everyone willing to accept that? Diana

Oh I am sorry - here was the situation these people were trying to get to Downtown Disney probably for the show. they took the bus from the Marriott (had to paid for it) to try to get DD - they were told (after they had paid) that they had to go to the WDW park - well when they got to the WDW park they were told that no buses went to DD from there - so they were instructed to take the OKW bus and then transfer to a DD.

I though that Disney had gone a little to far in its territory ways - I though that other resort buses could use DD - but I don't know any more - it sounds like the outside buses can only go to a WDW park. I should have made my first post much plainer - sorry for the mix up.

but does anyone know - can outside buses only go to a WDW park?

Pat - I'm sure off site resort buses can go to DD, but they probably choose not to. The shuttles cost money and there probably aren't enough guests who want to go to DD to warrant the cost of the service.

I do know that Disney stopped running buses from DD to the theme parks because most riders on that route were guests of the DD Hotels who apparently didn't want to use the DD Hotel shuttles for some reason.

My understanding is that Disney no longer has a use restriction on transportation for those that purchase ticket media so this would be within their right. I can certainly understand their situation and were I in their shoes would have done the same thing.
