We just spent a week at the Marriott Grande Vista resort, with 8 people in 2 villas, a 1BR and a 2BR. We stayed in Building 94, right across from the main pool and building, and we really had a great time.
First, the villas were renovated and beautiful. They had everything (dishes, utensils, etc.) that we needed to cook, eat (well, we had to buy groceries) and even bake. We loved the washer and dryer, too. The king bed was very, very comfortable. There were plenty of towels and pillows.
It would be easy to stay onsite for your entire vacation. Every day there were many activities, such as crafts, wine tasting, and fitness classes for all ages. On Saturday, there was a dive-in movie by the pool. Our family even won the trivia contest one afternoon.
There were plenty of chairs by the pools. The most crowded day was Saturday, but it cleared out as people got their villa assignments. There is a bar near each pool. Near the main pool, there is a convenience-type store with free bags of ice, and another place to get food, sort of like Boston Market. There is also a Pizza Hut, but don't let them fool you - we ordered a "large" pizza and it was actually only 12 inches (medium). When I asked, they said, well that's the largest pizza we have.
Overall, we had a great time. Our AAA rate for the 1BR was $147 per night for a few nights and then it went up to $157. Very well worth it for all that you get. We will definitely go back some day.
