Marriott Anaheim?

Good morning! I haven't been to Disneyland since 1976 when I was a small child (been to WDW numerous times). However, I will be attending a professional conference at the Marriott Anaheim in 2012 and will do a side trip to DL after it's over. I'm very excited!

I have checked these boards about the Marriott Anaheim and there aren't many reviews that I've found. It does, however, get ranked in the "top 25 hotels" listing that is on HydroGuy's wonderful tips page. Has anyone stayed at this hotel and have any insights?

Thanks so much!

It's been a couple of years since I stayed there, but I loved it! Nice beds/linens. Starbucks and Pizza hut in the lobby.
I was there for a scrapbooking convention with a friend and it was great, maybe it's because I was there with no kids;)

I work for Marriott in the bay area CA and we are booked there for a DL Christmas trip so hoping to enjoy it there. I do know that friends who stayed there for conventions before seemed to enjoy it. I'll be sure to report when I get back in late December :)

I stayed there once. I am not sure how frequently you travel but as a Marriott Rewards Platinum I was upgraded to a nice room/floor and got lounge access. The lounge has a pretty good breakfast in the morning. The hotel is probably a 15 minute walk to the front gates depending on how fast you move.

The hotel is a little older and it can show in some places, but all in all, I think it is a pretty nice Marriott property. Try if you can to get in one of the towers as high up as possible facing DL, you may be able to catch the fireworks and stuff.

We just stayed there last month and I was pleasantly surprised at how great it was. I usually pick either Fairfield Inn for the distance or Residence Inn for the suite & free breakfast, but the Marriott Anaheim had the cheapest rate for our dates that we added last minute to the end of our trip after checking out of VGC.
Disclaimer: We are Marriott people, they've hooked us with the point collection and once you go Elite and get used to the perks its hard to stay elsewhere.
The rooms were normal sized, very nice, exactly what you'd expect of a category 5 Marriott. Our room was on the 15th floor so could see the fireworks over the Hilton. The walk was about 10 minutes, very do-able (we also walked through the GardenWalk Anaheim because we had lunch on the way at CPK). DH liked the Starbucks when the concierge lounge was closed. Very comfy beds, didn't ask and haven't heard anything but it looks like the rooms had been recently refurbished or freshened or something. :thumbsup2
Only thing I'd caution is that they do have a ridiculous parking fee if you have a car. We went carless this past trip so it wasn't an issue for us.

As always, you all are awesome! I've learned from the disboards to fly into the Orange County airport rather than LAX for my conference, and now you are also coming through with hotel info. I had thought about trying to switch hotels after the conference to do a split stay at the Marriott and then move to one of the DLR hotels, but I think I'll just stay at the Marriott for the duration of my stay. Conference room rate will probably be much less expensive than staying at a DLR property around Easter! And the walk to/from DLR sounds like it is about a mile - very doable for me as I'll be on my own. That'd be great if I could see the fireworks from my room - hadn't even thought about that! I won't have a car, but appreciate the parking charge info too.

I keep planning to stay there one night to take advantage of a package they have. It's pricey so you have to plan it right. For about $200, you get a room for 1 night and a $100 Disney gift card (in other words, they roll the cost of the gift card into the room rate!). Since I save points, I keep thinking if I get a Marriott card with my points so that it doesn't cost me anything (or very much), then I will get the Disney card as a bonus. However, I always seem to spend my points on other rewards.

I have used that same rate before. I want to say its $229/night, includes a $100 Disney gift card per night AND free parking. I don't think there are many hotels as nice as the Marriott that will give you a room with free parking for $129/night. Only thing to rival is I got the Hilton one time for like, $89 a night.

I might be staying here for my part of my trip in December and the parking is like $27 a night. :scared1:

Wow, I would look into that special rate. If you can pay the 200-something rate and get free parking and a $100 Disney gift card (for food, souveneirs, anything), it may be cheaper. I would say look into that.

ive stayed there a lot, havent in a awhile tho, love there pool and their bk buffet. Take a taxi there so u dont have to pay for parking, but i think u do have to pay for their shuttle tho, dont remember much of it,it was my 30th bday so i was tipsy tht morning, the day started off good tho
