Have you heard about this new show on FOX? It starts next week.

There are five young, single adults (3 women, 2 men) and the TV audience votes to see which two should get married -- a modern day arranged marriage, only the whole world "gets" to take part in it.

Well, DS(14, freshman in HS) came home the other day and told us that one of the guys selected to be in it had been dating his English teacher! Apparently it was not a casual relationship, because he even met the kids once (came to school to pick her up or something) and she USED to have his picture on her desk in the classroom.

Anyhow, he had to break up with her because he had to be unattached in order to be on the show. Nice guy, huh??

The teacher wanted to tell all the kids about it, just in case she is mentioned in any way on the show and to let them know that she does NOT support this in any way and that she and the guy are FINISHED!!!

I'm not sure what would be the better action -- voting against him so that he doesn't win anything OR voting for him to marry the witchiest of the three women on the show????

The thing I dont like about this show is it's called "MARRIED by America" when really all they have to do is get engaged...which is stupid because now it's just another dating show.

Dont like it. Next!!!

As if getting married in this country couldn't get any sillier. Too many people already getting married for the wrong reasons...;)

I agree Diane... I think I know why I don't watch network TV much anymore.

Disneyaholic, I feel so bad for your DS's teacher. How awful :( Truthfully I wouldn't want to even wish the witchiest person on him. Even she would deserve better than that!!!

I never watch programs like that. This guy sounds like a jerk, though. That teacher is lucky to be rid of him.

Yep, sounds like the teacher is lucky to be rid of this guy. I think this show is such a sad commentary on some people in American society. It's very sad to me how lightly some people look at marriage, something I look at as a very serious commitment. I will not be watching. :(

Yeah, that's kind of the consensus around here, too.

The day after she told the kids about it, a bunch of them brought her flowers and stuff. Just when you think teenagers think of no one but themselves!

So they don't really get married??? I thought it was called Married by America because they HAD to get married. The commercial says that two people will make the ultimate commitment without even meeting each other first. I assumed they were getting married.

That does suck what that guy did to your DSs teacher. People like that shouldn't even be allowed to be on the show.

I have to agree that this show is completely the lowest of the lows. What ever happened to old fashioned family values. You marry the love of your life, treat each other with respect and love, and stay married for the rest of your life. You don't use marriage like this. I am NOT trying to tread on peoples toes in regards to their divorces, so please don't take offense. These are just my humble opinions, and I have been fortunate to have found the love of my life and we are living happily ever after. I am worried what the next generation of reality shows will bring us.

Someone should really send a letter to Rupert Murdoch. This is just as bad as Joe Millionaire, Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire, etc.

Can Fox get any lower than this? Wait, don't answer that.
