Marriage: The Trip Report - Update 2/28 - Final Thoughts & Link to Disneyland TR!

Isn't the Play & Dine breakfast just so much fun?! :goodvibes This was Jake's favorite meal on our June trip... he STILL talks about it to this day!

The picture with Henry & Leo is adorable! He looks so happy! :thumbsup2

We had supper there in Jan, ( fantasmic pkg) and it was okay, but the best surprise was that the characters stayed late and Kadence got to meet Oso!

The atmosphere is great, and really geared towards the kiddos!

Henry did look so happy!

Cute breakfast and what a perfect age for it!

VERY happy Mickey was found, it's amazing when you think about it!

That looks like such a fun breakfast! I have seen the many mixed reviews also. Glad to know that you ate there and liked it. It really is pretty hard to mess up breakfast;) We did CP for the first time on our last trip, but I had looked at the Play and Dine too. Maybe for our next trip:thumbsup2

Joe did very well with the dancing! I always want to get up in those things but we never have someone under 12 with us so it would just be weird I think :rotfl:

I love the newest Henryism... the tiles look like ham! :thumbsup2

The path from the Boardwalk to DHS is so nice and relaxing - but I never want to walk anymore than we already do in the parks!

Henry looks like he was having a great time at breakfast! I love that he thought the floor looks like ham! :rotfl:

How the heck did I miss the update on The Hidden Mickey????

I'm glad that Mickey was found and Henry and he got to watch Illimunations together.

No worries on missing the update! I have been updating almost once a week lately - light speed for me.

Yum. That looks good. I have heard many mixed reviews too, but usually more for lunch and dinner. breakfast should be a bit safer. It looks darn good to me though.

This breakfast was great! I have heard mixed things more on the lunch and dinner too. I don't have any desire to try it when there is Mama Melrose or the Hollywood Brown Derby nearby! ;)

Now you go and sneak another update in on me too (after I finally read the Hidden Mickey one).

We never did H&V for breakfast; truthfully, I don't think they offered a character breakfast when my boys were little. We did, regretably, do the dinner twice after the kids were grown and that is a meal that we will not return to. I've heard basically only good things about the breakfast.

Henry sure looks like he was "playing it cool", but in the meantime having himself a great time.

I was sneaky this morning, wasn't I???

That is shame that the dinner is so bad. I wonder why? Disney does great on other dinner buffets. It's baffling.

I remember watching him cruise around with his hand in his pocket, like holding Handy Manny's hand was an everyday occurrence for him. :rotfl2: He FLEW back to the table all grins though!

I'm so happy to hear a good hollywood and vine review. It looks like it was an absolute blast. Henry is such a cool little dude! I love the hand in pocket.

It was a really fantastic way to start the day. It's high on the list for repeats!

I love that walk from the BW to DHS. I remember back when it use to be a dirt path and a hidden secret! Your breakfast is too cute... except I have no idea who any of those characters are except Handy Manny. Guess you can tell I've been out of the Babysitting business for a while now! :lmao:

Oh wow! I had no idea it used to be a dirt path! I'm glad they made it a real one, it's such a nice perk to those resorts to just walk!

:rotfl2: about the characters. I'm sure I will be like that in a few years! The big yellow bear is Special Agent Oso. The girl is June (Little Einsteins). The boy with the glasses is Leo (from Little Einsteins). I hope they add Jake from Jake and the Neverland Pirates (which Henry was posing in front of at the end).

just two words in response to your last update....BREAKFAST TACO/!!!

:rotfl2: ::yes::

Yummy breakfast! Looks fabulous!

I LOVE your walk to HS pictures. Looks like it was a bright, glorious morning!!

I'm glad Henry had such good character interactions! They really gave him attention, that was super cute.

It was! The weather was beautiful that morning. H had a zipper hoodie on, but if I remember correctly, it warmed up just perfectly after breakfast. We had great weather that first week.

Play & Dine was the very first Disney meal we had ever eaten way back in 2006. It set the tone for our first trip and kicked off the Disney love. I completely agree that it's a great character meal! :thumbsup2 Henry looks to be having so much fun. What a character himself, cutie pie. And this made me bust out laughing:

"These look like ham!" :rotfl2:

Yep, squares of ham deli meat. Hilarious!!!!!!!!

What a perfect way to jump right into the magic. I love it!

Isn't that hilarious about the ham!? What a nut!! The crazy thing is I only buy lunch meat from the butcher, so it's rarely square. :lmao:

That is a fun breakfast! I'm sad that my boys have outgrown Playhouse Disney or whatever it's called now! :sad2:

I know Henry will be before I know it too! :sad1:

From one pregnant woman to another, I would GLADLY bring you some onion rings if you could return the favor in a few weeks for me! ;)

I HAD to respond to this when I saw it because I was just talking to Brook a few months ago about how I always crave onion rings when I'm pregnant!!! :thumbsup2

Haha -- wait until you hear my Fast Pass story! ;)

If I ever get around to starting my TR that is! LOL!

That TV display at Play & Dine is new from last year! They probably added it soon after changing the name from Playhouse Disney to Disney Junior! I also noticed they changed the BIG wall-thingy (no, I don't have a better name for it! lol!) at the front of the restaurant with pics of the new shows & the "Disney Junior" logo on it!

I sooooo miss that meal from last year! I'm giving away part of my TR but we didn't end up eating ANY breakfasts on our trip. It was just too much for the little guy to deal with & it was less stressful on all of us to just cancel them all :sad2:

BUT next trip, I'm definitely doing Play & Dine again -- I completely agree with you! I was so confused why people gave it mixed reviews because I thought it was a perfect balance of fun, food & characters! It's one of the only character meals where I haven't felt rushed or felt like I'd miss out on a character if I got up to eat. I think they pace things very well. I LOVED when the characters danced with the kids, the CM's there were very fun/upbeat/happy, and I really enjoyed the food! I'm not a huge breakfast person so for me to say that, you know its good!

I'm so happy you all enjoyed it! I LOVED LOVED LOVED seeing the huge smiles on Henry's face!!! You could really tell he enjoyed meeting the characters, dancing, walking around with Handy Manny, and just the overall experience! Sooo glad for that!!!

Can't wait to read more about your trip! Loving ALL of your pictures, as always!!!

I was really surprised they had the Disney Junior theming out already - Jake had JUST come out. They were really on top of it...and they never are!

That stinks about no breakfasts! It's my FAVORITE. With or without characters, I don't care - I could easily go for a TS breakfast every single day and skip lunch (or have a snack) and do a QS dinner. Now if I could only get Joe on board with that!

We also felt Cape May (have you done that breakfast yet?) was well paced. They are the two most relaxing character meals we have been to. I already told Joe we are eating in the Castle next trip, so we'll see how that one goes. ;)

Isn't the Play & Dine breakfast just so much fun?! :goodvibes This was Jake's favorite meal on our June trip... he STILL talks about it to this day!

The picture with Henry & Leo is adorable! He looks so happy! :thumbsup2

It was the best! I am so glad we booked it and I hope to squeeze it in again on the next trip. I don't want Henry to outgrow it before we get a chance to do it again!

And thank you on the pic - he was sooooo excited to meet all his buddies!

We had supper there in Jan, ( fantasmic pkg) and it was okay, but the best surprise was that the characters stayed late and Kadence got to meet Oso!

The atmosphere is great, and really geared towards the kiddos!

Henry did look so happy!

That is SO great about the characters!!!! What a special treat!

Cute breakfast and what a perfect age for it!

VERY happy Mickey was found, it's amazing when you think about it!

It really was - that thing is little and it could have been anywhere! Part of me wonders if that CM just happened to have a stash of them in the back though.

I would recommend it! It was so much fun and very tasty. I don't have a bad thing to say about it. I hope we can go again next trip. (and Boma, and Cinderella's Royal Table, and Kona, and 'Ohana...hmmm I see a problem with this!)

Joe did very well with the dancing! I always want to get up in those things but we never have someone under 12 with us so it would just be weird I think :rotfl:

I love the newest Henryism... the tiles look like ham! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: You'll have to just pretend you are with one of the kids! Or go with a crazy group of friends who will ALL get up. That would be fun to watch! I'd totally dance with you!

Isn't he a nut? It's so funny to hear what comes out of his mouth sometimes.

The path from the Boardwalk to DHS is so nice and relaxing - but I never want to walk anymore than we already do in the parks!

Henry looks like he was having a great time at breakfast! I love that he thought the floor looks like ham! :rotfl:

 that is VERY true about the path. The boat is a good option! We walk a ton everyday here (no car), so we are used to it and prefer walking now...but after a long day in the park...the boat is a welcome sight.

I thought of you guys with the camera incident during that whole time. I was hoping we'd have the same results -- though losing a digital camera is just slightly more painful than a 2 inch free plastic Mickey Mouse.
[/QUOTE]

Only to the parents, I am sure Henry would rate then equally.;)

just two words in response to your last update....BREAKFAST TACO/!!!

I had the local girls bring breakfast tacos to us when I was in San Antonio. YUM.

What a cute breakfast for the little ones!! Henry looks like he was really enjoying himself. Such a cute video of him. Joe got into it too!!:)

Of course my "boys" are 22 & 18 so we have never been for breakfast. Went for dinner one time & waited forever to get called in. I think they forgot us. Food was just so so but breakfast looks amazing!!

Great update!! Henry looked like he was having so much fun. We also enjoyed our meal there.

That looks like the perfect character meal for Henry. He is smiling or smirking in every picture. He must have been in little boy heaven!!!!!! And the food looks very good. Making me hungry for breakfast at 10pm. What a great way to kick off the day!:cool1:

That breakfast sure looked like a blast. I thought about doing it this February, but Max doesn't watch Little Einsteins. I wish Jake and the Neverland Pirates were there. Oh well. Such cute pictures of Henry!

That looks like such a fun character meal! I had considered it, but the only one of those characters my boys like is Special Agent Oso. Or Special Agent So-so, as Carter calls him. Henry looks like he's having a lot of fun there. :goodvibes

haha the tiles DO look like ham that is too funny.. we made a last minute ressie for there when we went this past Feb..We had lunch though and it was ok.. I do remember liking the meatballs :rotfl: My kids are too shy to get up and dance though so we just watched

It looks like ham! :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl: Oh, I can totally relate to that right now...EVERYTHING looks like food to me at the moment.

Glad to hear you liked Hollywood & Vine, sounds very yummy to me. Henry looks too cute dancing and having fun. :goodvibes

The walk from Boardwalk to DHS looks so nice. Yay on Joe making it back in time with TSMM FPs!

Mmm the food looks yummy at H&V! I have to admit I'm in the category that doesn't recognise many of the characters

Do you feed Henry a lot of pork? First the Mickey bar taste like sausage anow the floor looks like ham! :rotfl2:

I also love the walk from the boardwalk to DHS. Its so nice and relaxing in the morning! :)

The breakfast looks awesome and like lots of fun! I'll have to look into it for one of our upcoming trips. I think Everett would do so much better at a restaurant if there is a sanctioned "dance break" in the middle of all the sitting and eating!

Henry is too cute in those photos! You can tell he is just loving every minute of the dancing and character meeting! Did he actually eat anything with all the excitement?
