Marriage: The Trip Report - Update 2/28 - Final Thoughts & Link to Disneyland TR!

We actually did the Play & Dine this year with no kids! We were just there for the food. It was fun to see all the kids up dancing and having fun though, and the characters waved at us as they went by. It was a great breakfast even with all adults!
Henry looks like he had a ton of fun!

I'm so glad you guys enjoyed H&V! We've eaten there our past 3 trips and are skipping it this upcoming trip. I'm kinda bummed about it! I really think it's the best character interaction and so much fun!

Looks like you had a great time at Hollywood and Vine. Henry looks so happy. I love the hand in the pocket when Handy Manny was holding his hand. The food looked great.

We have done that breakfast once, and we enjoyed it. Bella was too little to join in the dancing, though, so we need to go again so she can participate. Maybe being able to dance with the characters will help her get closer in a more comfortable way.

I have yet to make the walk from the Boardwalk area to Hollywood. We've taken the boat, but I want to walk it one of the these days.

Henry is cute, as always, in all the pictures. He's a lucky boy to be able to have these Disney experiences so often. :goodvibes

I thought of you guys with the camera incident during that whole time. I was hoping we'd have the same results -- though losing a digital camera is just slightly more painful than a 2 inch free plastic Mickey Mouse.

Not in Henry's eyes -- it was just as devastating to him, I am sure!

What a fun breakfast! I love that Henry was out there just dancing away!

Two responses to your last post: first: the food looks FABULOUS and now I'm super hungry. The first thing I thought when I saw the picture with the taco thing was "omg... that breakfast burrito looks delicious! Then you had to go and rub it in my face! I'm SO hungry now!

Second: Your son is SO freakin' cute! That part when he's holding Handy Manny's hand... and when he's covering one eye and touching the sword... make me melt... I've never wanted kids... but your son it making me rethink it...

Only to the parents, I am sure Henry would rate then equally.;)

I had the local girls bring breakfast tacos to us when I was in San Antonio. YUM.

That is very true - Henry would probably only be devastated if it was our iPad, the iPhone he could do without.

I could go for a breakfast taco this AM....or even a regular taco....LOL!

What a cute breakfast for the little ones!! Henry looks like he was really enjoying himself. Such a cute video of him. Joe got into it too!!

Of course my "boys" are 22 & 18 so we have never been for breakfast. Went for dinner one time & waited forever to get called in. I think they forgot us. Food was just so so but breakfast looks amazing!!

I was happy Joe got into it a bit. I was WAY into it...but then again, I'm like a big kid at Disney World! :goodvibes

I've heard so many poor reviews of the lunch and dinner, it's such a shame they go drastically downhill after breakfast.

Great update!! Henry looked like he was having so much fun. We also enjoyed our meal there.

Thank you! Such a fun breakfast, isn't it?

That looks like the perfect character meal for Henry. He is smiling or smirking in every picture. He must have been in little boy heaven!!!!!! And the food looks very good. Making me hungry for breakfast at 10pm. What a great way to kick off the day!:cool1:

It really was a perfect way to start the day. I don't hesitate to recommend this one to my clients with the little kids-so much fun! And I hear they are adding Jake (the pirate)! Yay! I'm tempted to try to sneak in one more breakfast there for our one day at Disney in June, I'm afraid Henry will be too old for it pretty soon.

That breakfast sure looked like a blast. I thought about doing it this February, but Max doesn't watch Little Einsteins. I wish Jake and the Neverland Pirates were there. Oh well. Such cute pictures of Henry!

Jake is coming!!!
Possibly even by next month! :yay:

That looks like such a fun character meal! I had considered it, but the only one of those characters my boys like is Special Agent Oso. Or Special Agent So-so, as Carter calls him. Henry looks like he's having a lot of fun there. :goodvibes

:rotfl2: Special Agent So-So! That is HILARIOUS! And I would tend to agree...the kids usually tell Oso what to do, he's not such a good agent. ;)

haha the tiles DO look like ham that is too funny.. we made a last minute ressie for there when we went this past Feb..We had lunch though and it was ok.. I do remember liking the meatballs :rotfl: My kids are too shy to get up and dance though so we just watched

They do, don't they?! I would have never noticed, but I love that Henry did. He's such a nut!

I have heard only meh reviews about lunch and dinner both - such a shame because the breakfast is so tasty and the characters are fun! I hope they improve on that, DHS needs a bit more good food.

It looks like ham! :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl: Oh, I can totally relate to that right now...EVERYTHING looks like food to me at the moment.

Glad to hear you liked Hollywood & Vine, sounds very yummy to me. Henry looks too cute dancing and having fun. :goodvibes

 I remember that part of pregnancy! I ate SO much Peanut Butter Cap'n Crunch and orange juice--not a good choice, btw. :rolleyes1 It's hard when you are preggo though!

You will enjoy Hollywood & Vine perhaps, not so long from now, with your little. :cutie:

The walk from Boardwalk to DHS looks so nice. Yay on Joe making it back in time with TSMM FPs!

Mmm the food looks yummy at H&V! I have to admit I'm in the category that doesn't recognise many of the characters

That walk is very nice - I just love staying in the Epcot area for that purpose...and the boat. Oh, how I love the boat! Earlier today Joe and I discussed plans for our June 7th visit to WDW and I want to hop from DHS to Epcot, just for the boat!

Do you feed Henry a lot of pork? First the Mickey bar taste like sausage anow the floor looks like ham! :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: Oh too funny!!!!!!

I also love the walk from the boardwalk to DHS. Its so nice and relaxing in the morning! :)

The breakfast looks awesome and like lots of fun! I'll have to look into it for one of our upcoming trips. I think Everett would do so much better at a restaurant if there is a sanctioned "dance break" in the middle of all the sitting and eating!

The dance break is a definite bonus! It's such a fun meal-I think he (and you!) would really enjoy it. It was fun, but not wild and overwhelming.

Henry is too cute in those photos! You can tell he is just loving every minute of the dancing and character meeting! Did he actually eat anything with all the excitement?

Thank you! :goodvibes And I cannot remember at all if he ate...I didn't have it in my notes if he did, or didn't. I assume he did-he's a BIG breakfast eater (like his Momma!). I bet he gobbled most all that fruit! It was pretty exciting though-I am sure he was distracted for good parts of the meal.

Henry looks like he had a ton of fun!

That's so cute!!!! I could see myself going there-just for the food and to watch the little kids. It always brings tears to my eyes to see kids so excited and that Disney magic making their dreams come true.

Ahhh, getting sappy just thinking about it!

It is a great one! I think I might suggest to Joe that we squeeze it in during our 1 day stay in June... have you done Cape May breakfast? It also has really great interaction and is well-paced.

Looks like you had a great time at Hollywood and Vine. Henry looks so happy. I love the hand in the pocket when Handy Manny was holding his hand. The food looked great.

Isn't that the cutest? He was playing it cool, but just loving it. :cutie:

I can just picture Bella and Brooklynn up there, dancing away!! It's such a fun breakfast, isn't it?

I am thrilled to be raising my little man going to Disney World. It was always my wish as a child, so I'm happy to make it come true for him! He ain't got nothin' on your girls though. :rotfl:

Not in Henry's eyes -- it was just as devastating to him, I am sure!

What a fun breakfast! I love that Henry was out there just dancing away!

That is VERY true! He probably wouldn't have had a tear if I had lost my phone...now if we lost the iPad, that would be a different story!

 Talking about all the food again has my stomach growling too. I could easily go for a breakfast burrito right now! Eggs, bacon, hot sauce--sign me up!

You are too sweet about Henry. :cutie: Thank you! He is such a blessing. I did NOT want to have a child that early into our marriage and was devastated when I found out I was pregnant...I tried to be happy about it, since everyone around me was, but I couldn't. It wasn't until after he was born that I realized. He's amazing. I'm so thankful for him! And SUCH a good kid-I'm seriously blessed!! Kids change your life-in a very hard, but very good way.

With that said, I don't think we will ever have a second child. We are good with just one! ;)

hehe Henry looks as sweet as he is in those pics at play and dine.

Thank you! :goodvibes I love those pics of him holding Hanny Manny's hand with the hand in the pocket and the grin.

Jake is coming!!!
Possibly even by next month! :yay:

If that's true, I think I might need to make a new ADR!!! :yay:

Jake would be really cool. My ds was so excited when they added Oso, and I made sure to get an ADR to see him. However, now at 5 and a half he is starting to get too old for "Disney Junior", or at least I thought so. Just yesterday after his grandmother gave him 10 bucks he opted to buy some Mickey Mouse figures instead of Star Wars or legos. So maybe Henry won't grow out of it too soon.

I haven't heard it yet from Disney, but the rumor does come from a legit source...so we shall see! I hope he comes soon!

Wow! That's GREAT news! I hope you are right. When I just put on Disney Junior and don't have Henry the option he still enjoys it...so there is hope! :goodvibes

He looks like: yeah I'm playing it cool, but I'm loving every minute of it!

Exactly! It's so cute. :cutie:

Thank you! We had a fun day!

I just wanted to share a couple pictures from Halloween, many of you have already seen them on Facebook, but here are a few favorites from our festivities!

Our church had a party on Sunday as an outreach to the neighborhood, we went as a pirate family! These will also be our outfits for the cruise in June.

Henry and two of his church buddies:

And Henry won Best Costume prize! (he won moola!)

And yesterday we hit the streets with some friends:

We had a fun time and have enough candy to last a year!

Just before our meal at Hollywood & Vine ended Henry noticed kids at another table who had an autograph book and he wanted one. This was new for us, we had never gotten autographs before and I was just fine getting him one--kinda excited about it actually! So out the door we went and straight to a gift shop.

1213102494_m6SD2-L.jpg

I picked one out and Henry asked for a box of crayons.

That's when I realized he just wanted to draw! He didn't care about autographs at all. So we looked around for a more simple drawing pad, but didn't find anything, so I convinced him I'd find him something at another store and we distracted him with the fact that Disney Junior Live on Stage was just about to start.

We rushed over, and the line was loooooong, but we made it in!

This was the first day they opened with the Jake and the Neverland Pirates portion and re-branded as Disney Junior instead of Playhouse Disney, I was looking forward to seeing it and knew Henry would be thrilled!

Gold doubloons!

1213137064_cbw3b-L.jpg

And if you'd like to see the Jake and the Neverland Pirates portion - here is my video! (6 minutes, 4 seconds)

Overall, it's a great addition - very fun!

After the show we walked out to complete stroller MAYHEM! It was completely nutty, so we skipped trying to find ours and went straight into the Animation Building. Joe and I hadn't done the tour since our honeymoon and it had been something I wanted to do again anyway!

And MUCH to my surprise, they had PEOPLE IN THE OFFICES!!!!!

1213138496_mWyeT-L.jpg

I have since read reports about these offices being used again, but not all the time. It was so fun to see people actually working down there!

We went and watched the movie, I couldn't remember a thing about it from when I last saw it, so I really enjoyed it and so did Henry and Joe. Henry was more than ready to get into that drawing class; this kid likes his art, but it wasn't open yet, so I tried to convince him to meet some characters while we waited.

Photopass

1239914981_6y8qB-L.jpg

And that was enough! He did not want to meet Stitch, and Donald and Daisy had a very long line -- Henry only cared about that drawing class! It eventually opened and Henry opted to draw with Joe.

Dum, dum, dum.....!

And the character we were going to draw...

1213167204_QGHvG-L.jpg

Yay! I was thrilled! Mickey will always be my favorite!

Now, for those of you who don't know, Joe is legally blind. He cannot see very well - and couldn't easily see what the instructor was doing on the screen, so he was trying to follow with the voice commands. Which, at first was fine.

But then he got behind.

And Henry wanted to draw.

And instead of just rolling with it and guiding Henry's hand, Joe kept taking the pencil away from Henry and trying to catch up.

I told him, more than once before the class, to just take Henry's hand and "draw", but he didn't hear that; so Joe ended up very, very, very annoyed! Annoyed the he couldn't see, that he couldn't catch up, and that Henry kept taking the pencil. And Henry was having a mini-meltdown over it all as well-after all, he REALLY wanted to draw!

It wasn't until after the class that I realized what had happened. I enjoyed every second and was completely shocked my Mickey actually looked like Mickey!!

1213174123_dwThF-L.jpg

So after we filed out of the room I noticed the melting Henry and the frustrated Joe, we stopped and we all figured out what happened. Joe realized he should have just let go and let Henry draw instead of trying to do it with Henry's "help". Thankfully it was just a small rift in the day, soon we were all fine again and I got a picture of Henry and Joe's masterpiece:

1213175538_BDEH9-L.jpg

And we agreed next time Henry would draw with me so Joe could more easily follow along and concentrate. :thumbsup2

We took a few minutes to browse the awesome gift shop
