Marriage: The Trip Report - Update 2/28 - Final Thoughts & Link to Disneyland TR!

How cool to have the kind of trip where you feel like there is time to resort hop! Good for you! :thumbsup2.

Love the bridge photos! :goodvibes. What a cutiepie!!

I have heard that resort specific gear is coming back...hope that's true at all resorts! ::yes::

All in all, looks like a super fun afternoon! :)

I love wilderness lodge. Wow, I just love the pictures of Henry and the bridge. He has grown so much and is such an independent little dude.

I want that wilderness lodge blanket. I think i'm going to make a special trip to wilderness lodge in October and get it. ;)

Hey Brook!!

I about lost it on the WL Henry pictures. How sweet is that?!?! Love it! What a great memory.

Wow I was 2 updates behind!:scared1:

Sorry breakfast wasn't as peaceful as it could have been. I have to admit Frosted Flakes area staple at our house. Dh loves then, he even adds sugar to them. I like them too, but to me they are sweet enough just by themselves. Glad the cheese danish helped to make things better.

Such sweet pictures of Henry learning to walk on the bridge and then running across.:woohoo: Kids really do grow up way too fast.

Are you still planning a trip in Feb? We're going to be there the 17th thru the 22nd, I would love to try and meet up.

I'm headed over to your May trippy to get caught up.

Wow, I was two updates behind! Coffee can make EVERYTHING better but ugh, that was not a restful start to the day at all. I'm worried about poor wee Mickey's future though.

I don't remember seeing that much WL merchandise last summer. Maybe I didn't pay as much attention as I was hoping for YC merc (zip, zero zilch other than one lousy pin) but that's some seriously cute stuff. I love the look of mugs like that but oh, not fun to hold.

Loving the compare/contrast of the bridge pictures. I really need to do that at MSB every time we go, I can't believe I didn't do it this time.

I think RF is a great lunch option, probably my favorite resort CS and I'm not really sure why but we've always had good luck there as well.

Yes. I only take the monorail out once a year and put it under the Christmas tree. I'm hoping to get the CR one day.

I think it's so nice when you can have pictures of the kids as they grow at places like Disney!

The WL looks so amazing, I can't wait to go there on the 22nd for our Whisphering Canyon ADR.

Catching up (AGAIN)!!! I just ADORE those pics of Henry then and now on that bridge...Priceless! :goodvibes:love::goodvibes And the food pics...YUMMY!!! Dinner was a LONG time ago....good thing my kitchen is closed! :lmao:

I have a few of those WL items. :)
That is a great resort. We loved staying there for the two nights we were able to, but it's definitely on the 'do again' list.
Did you throw coins in the fountain of power and make any wishes? :goodvibes

Love your Wilderness Lodge pictures and the pictures of Henry on the bridge!

I love the WL stuff in the gift shop especially the Disney totem pole!

Oh, those 'then' and 'now' pictures of Henry are just too sweet! It seems like I was just reading your reports from when Herny was a baby and now he's gone and gotten all big boy on us!

I love the Wilderness Lodge and I'm really looking forward to staying there for the first time.........NEXT MONTH!! :woohoo:

Hi Brook!

You've been gone, I've been gone, now it's time for me to catch up!! I also noticed that you've started your (semi)solo TR. I will get over there ASAP.

Sorry the breakfast on the boardwalk wasn't perfect. But look at the bright side, at least the birds stayed away from your food. I love the CM magic! Henry looks like a kid in a candy store with that little guy. I really don't want you to tell us that he loses it somewhere. Please.:sad2:

Resort hopping, hooray! I.will.get.to.Wilderness Lodge.in.March. I know that I don't have an ADR there, but I'd love to spend some time just checking it out. DH would truly love that one, even if I have to drag him kicking and screaming out of a park.:lmao:

I was also able to catch up on good 'ol life updates. I am truly sorry I missed Henry's birthday celebration!! I cannot believe he is four! Time flys way too quickly for my taste! I'm happy that the first day of school was a success. Is it still going well?

Okay, off to your solo report to catch up there!

That is a very good point about the bird! He could have swooped down and stolen our food.

More on the little Mickey in a future update---the drama is later this evening....so soon we will all know the fate! ;)

The WL is sooooo pretty. Joe and I both love it. It's a favorite, right behind the Boardwalk for me, and it might be Joe's favorite overall. It's a great resort to go explore - good eats, great gift shop, pretty views!

Time has FLOWN when I look back. Some days seem like they will never end, but those years disappear so quickly. And yes, he's still loving school! We had a parent's meeting last night that was really great. I got a chance to see a bit more of what they do day-to-day and even see some of his artwork.

Every little boy loves to dig!

I really hope they bring back resort merchandise too. It's a bit of a shame that they got rid of it at most resorts. After being on the Agent Education Program, and the way the CM who led it all spoke about the resorts, it sounds as if they are each separate business entities and make their own decisions on things. So perhaps, whomever is in charge of the WL has chosen they will continue having the resort merch? OKW has it too (really nice stuff!) but that might be it? AKL has African things, but most of it you can find at AKL too.

I love the WL resort! We have that same WL picture frame on our fireplace mantle...with our family picture in it in front of the todem pole :goodvibes
I like to get a resort specific frame from each trip (if possible) and put a family picture in it. I also have a nice WL throw hanging on the back of my rocking chair. Our WL trip back in 2006 was so nice...especially since it was early Christmas. Nothing like the WL at Christmastime:goodvibes I love that you took the same pictures of Henry on the bridge years later. I try and do that too in different areas of the parks!

That is such a cute idea with the picture frame! If we ever have a fireplace, I think I might steal that idea. It seems like a perfect mantle picture. Or, if I ever do a WL theme room in a future home...:scratchin

Do you find that many of the resorts have frames still? I don't see much of it anymore - just all the generic WDW stuff.

Ahhh I miss wilderness lodge. Such a beautiful resort :worship:
I stayed there back when I was in Middle School and it seems like SO long ago! I want to go back so bad! But the good news is that I made an ADR at Whispering Canyon for our Christmas trip... so at least I'll get to go inside. They DO have a fantastic gift shop. :thumbsup2 Love it.

You will get a taste of the WL on that trip! We love it too - it's stunning, isn't it? I haven't ever seen it (in person) at Christmas and have heard such awesome things - someday I'll get to!

I just LOVE these pictures!!! How neat to watch Henry grow through the years at Disney!

We have been going back and forth about where we may like to stay next year, and I think Wilderness Lodge is pretty high on the list! :thumbsup2

I love taking pics of him in the same spots throughout the years. It's a really fun way to watch him grow. I have a couple others I'll share too!

I highly recommend the WL. I just posted pics of it on my public FB page if you'd like to take a look - there are a LOT! https://www.facebook.com/brookwoz

I'm catching up on the updates but luvin them all. Yay that Henry had a good first and second day at school :)

Thank you! He's really enjoying school. This morning we had a bit of a shake-up of the routine and he was not enjoying that...such a creature of habit already. But, I know he'll be fine!!

Look at the wee little Henry learning to walk! Sniff Sniff. All these pictures are not helping my emotional state!

I love eating at Roaring Forks, it is so yummy. We had such good meals there when we stayed at Wilderness Lodge.

I have that WL magnet on my fridge, I like to buy a magnet from each trip.

:rotfl2:Sorry LL! But soon it will be YOU walking your little one at Disney! I can't wait to watch yours grow up Disney. :lovestruc

We do the same with magnets! I completely regret not buying it...and am a bit surprised I didn't. I want magnets of everywhere we have stayed and we didn't get one that trip from 2008. Maybe I figured we'd go back into the shop later. :confused3 Next trip!

We both really enjoy resort hopping. Sometimes I only do it because Joe wants a down day though. :rolleyes1 But this trip WAS different. I was starting to twitch by this time though, it was nearing the halfway point in our trip, we had lots more planned, but I still hadn't see Wishes. :sad2: I have come to realize Wishes is an essential part of my trip!

Oh gosh I hope that rumor is CORRECT! :hyper: Where did you hear it????

I love wilderness lodge. Wow, I just love the pictures of Henry and the bridge. He has grown so much and is such an independent little dude.

I want that wilderness lodge blanket. I think i'm going to make a special trip to wilderness lodge in October and get it. ;)

I remember touching it and it was veryyyyy soft too. :thumbsup2

Hey Brook!!

I about lost it on the WL Henry pictures. How sweet is that?!?! Love it! What a great memory.

Aw, thanks!!! It really was fun to recreate that moment!

Are you still planning a trip in Feb? We're going to be there the 17th thru the 22nd, I would love to try and meet up.

I'm headed over to your May trippy to get caught up.

Can you believe I've updated twice recently? LOL! I'm trying to update here every Monday and do replies on Wednesday. TRYING. We'll see how it goes. I need to get more order in my life now that H has a schedule too!

:rotfl: that's hilarious about your DH adding sugar to the Frosted Flakes! Joe would do the EXACT same thing! I do like them, but try to avoid them due to the sugar/health-value. But on vacation, there are NO RULES! Hence the cheese danish. ;)

Right now the Feb trip is completely up in the air. We won't really know until the end of the year either - so it will be last minute planning. (so what's new with this family???) We must pay off some debt and if we have enough $$ left, then we can swing a Disney trip, but I'm not sure we will. :sad1: If we are able to go though, our dates WILL overlap and we definitely have to meet up!!!

Wow, I was two updates behind! Coffee can make EVERYTHING better but ugh, that was not a restful start to the day at all. I'm worried about poor wee Mickey's future though.

I think RF is a great lunch option, probably my favorite resort CS and I'm not really sure why but we've always had good luck there as well.

The Yacht Club could have such cute merchandise too! They really need to bring it back. I might go a tad resort-merch crazy if they do though.

It's one of our favorite resort CS' too. It's small, and you'd think it wouldn't be great, but it always is! I never got sick of eating there the week we stayed there either. Maybe they just have a really good chef?

Yes. I only take the monorail out once a year and put it under the Christmas tree. I'm hoping to get the CR one day.

I love it! The CR is HUGE, but fun. Next we'll get him Epcot I think.

I think it's so nice when you can have pictures of the kids as they grow at places like Disney!

The WL looks so amazing, I can't wait to go there on the 22nd for our Whisphering Canyon ADR.

We have a few spots where we take pics of him every year too - the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Playground and Buzz Lightyear. It will be really fun when he's a teenager and I make him go down the slides at the playground. :lmao:

Catching up (AGAIN)!!! I just ADORE those pics of Henry then and now on that bridge...Priceless! :goodvibes:love::goodvibes And the food pics...YUMMY!!! Dinner was a LONG time ago....good thing my kitchen is closed! :lmao:

:rotfl2: That's the problem with the DIS - food pics! I have made the mistake of going through the Food Pictures thread late at night and ended up with a growling stomach!

I love the bridge pictures. Henry is such a cutie.:goodvibes

Thank you! :cutie: It was fun to recreate those!

I have a few of those WL items. :)
That is a great resort. We loved staying there for the two nights we were able to, but it's definitely on the 'do again' list.
Did you throw coins in the fountain of power and make any wishes? :goodvibes

:rotfl:Nope, I avoided the fountain! I do go back and forth though...sometimes I want to throw coins in, and other times I want to run away - if you catch my drift! ;) The thing is, I might end up with a double portion if I throw a coin in, since it isn't uncommon in my family.....

Love your Wilderness Lodge pictures and the pictures of Henry on the bridge!

I love the WL stuff in the gift shop especially the Disney totem pole!

The WL has such great stuff! I didn't even include all the pics. I hope the other resorts start doing this too - so many of them could have some really cute things.

Love the WL photos! I've never been over there and I've always wanted to go poke around.

It's such a nice resort! It truly feels like you've escaped out of Florida...yet MK is RIGHT there. Love that!

:woohoo:

Isn't it amazing how quickly that has gone by? It doesn't feel like all that long ago when we booked that WL trip!!

I don't think I realized you were staying at the WL! That is awesome! ENJOY!!!!

I love the WL. We stayed there during our first family trip with the boys in 2006.

Isn't it the best? That was our first family trip too, 2008. :lovestruc

I havent found too many like you said. I do have one from the Poly...with Lilo and Stitch on it, and the one from the WL. I just buy a generic one if we cant find a resort specific one. Its a shame that they dont have more. Other resorts may have them, but we have only stayed at the Poly, BLT, WL and POP in recent years.

I love the comparison pictures at the Wilderness Lodge. What a change, such a big boy now. I love pictures like this, and you do so well at recreating the same pictures. I try and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. How in the world do you remember the pictures though that you took so many years ago, so that you can recreate them?

Great update Brook; I love how you took us down memory lane with those pictures of Henry as a wee tyke! FUN!

Lunch sounded yummy, and I giggled at Joe's description of his lunch; too funny!

Yup, gotta get those souvies when you see 'em; I've been sorry too many times by not going with my first instinct.
