My husband really wants to try Marrakesh on our next trip to WDW in November...but I'm not so sure the menu really appeals to me. I certainly don't mind going and eating light just to try something new. Especially since he really wants to go. I'm just looking for any opinions on the food, ambiance, entertainment, etc.

Thanks! :goodvibes

I think the place is pretty good, not great, it's definitely different from your standard park food... but a lot of people who have written on various Disney boards don't seem to like it, so it's definitely not for everyone.

If you're afraid to commit to the full expense of a sit-down, try the Tangerine cafe, counter service, also in Morocco. I think you'll find similar tastes and flavors, and maybe some food that's a little more familiar but still exotic.

My husband wanted to go there too. Not for the food ~ for the belly dancer!! :rotfl:

I wasn't impressed with the food at all.

He was impressed by the dancer.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I love Mediterranean food and that is what you will find here. I had salmon but just about everything on the menu looked good to me. I liked the atmosphere also but I can’t say that aspect really stood out for me. If you are a coffee drinker I highly recommend the Moroccan coffee. It is coffee with a shot of espresso and some orange blossom water. I had it in 2005 but I assume it is still there.

Worst dining experience ever at WDW. Bad food, surly waiter (when he was around) and non existent entertainment.

It's only okay. You won't find anything spectacular there. I would rate it in the bottom 25% of my Disney dining experiences.

We LOVED the food. The belly dancer was great. The server was extremely attentive. One of the best dining experiences at Disney.

Put me down as PRO Marrakesh! We LOVED it! The food wasn't any better or worse than your standard Morroccan fare you'll find at your's in your home town, but it was yum and the whole market feel added to the ambiance. :):thumbsup2

This is one restaurant DH and I have no desire to try. We don't like the menu and DH cannot even stand the smell of lamb.

I loved my lunch here! We had a great waiter and the belly dancer was so much fun! I like Mediterranean/Middle Eastern food in general, so the food was familiar to me, and I found it to be quite tasty! Its definitely an experience worth a try IMO!

We loved Marrakesh. The dinner for two was very good. If you like this type of food, you'll enjoy it.

We always go to Marrakesh when in Disney. I've eaten there 4 tmes so far. Never had a bad meal or bad service. It's absolutely one of my favorites.

I enjoyed the food, but my DH & DS didn't care for it. We were seated in the back of the upper level, rather than the main floor. The entertainment didn't include our area. Knowing that we could be seated there again, & the fact that they didn't really enjoy their 1st meal, has kept us from trying it again. We are adventurous eaters, so I'm sure we'll return someday.

Jeez Louise!! It sounds like people either love it or hate it. I do appreciate all of the feedback. I think I'm going to read through the posts again...very slowly this time. Maybe I can make up my mind after another read through (we are 7 days from making ADRs). The Tangerine Cafe seemed like a good idea...just in case the decision on Marrakesh is a no.

It was okay, but we are not in a hurry to go back. We were probably anticipating it a bit too much.

I say give it a try! I went about 5 years ago (I know things may have changed), but I enjoyed the food. It wasn't the best food ever, but it was good and fun to try something new. I remember that I had a couscous dish, and I also remember liking the ambiance. It di not feel like we were in a theme park at all. The belly dancer and music was entertaining.

DH also went before we met and he still talks about the belly dancer to this day. I think the food is an afterthought for him...I just asked him what he thought about the food and he said, "I was watching the belly dancer, but yeah, the food was good." I think this means the food has to be decent b/c DH is a meat and potatoes man. Of course, maybe the presence of the belly dancer made the food taste better. In any case, I say give it a go. :thumbsup2

One of my favorite restaurants. The bread and rice are incredible. I usually ask for seconds. :D

For a safe meal, try the chicken kebabs over rice. Very tasty but light and not too exotic if you aren't sure you like Moroccon food.

Atmosphere is fun, esp. at dinner. They have music and a bellydancer. She usually has all the kids out on the floor dancing. Its cute.

Thank you...I guess I should have asked for actual food recommendations too. As soon as I read this, I thought that I really should make sure to start with something simple. I know my husband will want to try the most exotic thing on the menu, so going for a simple option for me is a perfect idea. :goodvibes

Restaurant is excellent -- beautiful interior, loved the food, service is exquisite, and don't forget the rose water. And didn't someone mention the belly dancer?
