mark twain riverboat?

So I was perusing the schedule of entertainment and refurbs for my trip in Nov. and noticed that Mark Twain Riverboat will be up and running for our first day there only. Is this something I should make a point of riding with my kids or is it not that big of deal? I have never ridden it before so I don't know what to expect. I think I read somewhere that small children can go visit the Captain and perhaps get a map of Tom Sawyers' Island, is that correct info? If it isn't that big of deal, then we'll just skip it, but if it's more fun than I'm thniking it is I definitely want to hit it. Thanks for any insight!

It's relaxing, a nice break from running around, and a cool view of the park from the river. If you can manage to get invited up into the Wheelhouse (where the steering wheel is) - it's amazing!

You have a wide range of ages, so you might be better at keeping the little ones in check, but our 4 year old drove us batty while on that thing. He really seemed to want to climb overboard. I didn't enjoy it with him, though I did enjoy it on my solo trip.

If you think your kids will like it (it's about, hmm, 20 minutes long, there's canned music and a voiceover) I'd defiitely try!

The Island map, though, is usually gotten on the rafts over to the Island, if they have them anymore. I haven't heard about getting them on the MT.

We have only been on the Sailing Ship Columbia so far, but plan on riding the Riverbelle this time! I think its a nice relaxing thing to do in the afternoon when the ride lines are long.

I've heard if you ask nicely, you can ride up by the paddlewheel and sign a special book.

DD was invited to "drive" the boat when she was 4 which was really cool. She had a blast and got a cool certificate
