Cruise day - Thursday 23rd August

Just so excited this morning about going on the disney cruise. We are DVC members and used our DVC points for this. I had never fancied the cruise before and Mark had suggested it and as it did not seem like money I agreed. Only after reading the DIS (especially Mandy's reports) had I got into the spirit of the cruise.

We did some final packing. As we are not coming back to our room and we need to take everything with us either leaving it in the car or taking it with us on the cruise. We realised we had a problem with the contents of the fridge, first were the chocolates as we can't leave these in the car as they will melt. They needed to be put in our fridge on the cruise as soon as we get our room. Then the drinks. I had already carefully wrapped my bottles of vodka, but there were beers and red bull. We decided to leave the beers in the car and stuffed the red bull in one of the cases to take on the cruise and then packed everything in the car, checked out and drove off to Port Canaveral.

It was easy to get to just followed the disney cruise buses!, well we nearly did straight into the airport!!

It was very straight forward at the port just parked the car, deposited the cases and waited in the terminal.

I was so excited by now and we took a photo of the ship from the terminal verandah

I had read Mandy's report about your family's name being called out as they welcome you onto the ship and I had not told Mark and Kirsty and I was just about bursting to see what they would think. It was as brilliant as Mandy had said it would be and I was overwhelmed.

The ship was so wonderful and magical and we just seemed to float our way along the boat. We ordered a beer bucket to go in our cabin and then had lunch at Parrot Cay. We ordered a sparkling wine package that would follow us in the different restaurants we would be eating.

After lunch we got a photo with Max who I have not met before so was very excited

We go to the decks and I have my first cocktail which is a bahama mama (well it has to be in honour of Mandy)

We were then able to go to our cabins and this was the best bit. We have lovely verandah where we can sit and have drinks. There is also a curtain between our bed and Kirstys and loads of space under the bed for our three cases.

The TV plays disney movies all day and has some brand new releases showing.

We start to unpack and the stuff in my case is wet and sticky. OH NO, Mark's red bull has sprung a leak all over my clothes. Mark and Kirsty seem relieved it is not their clothes. I rescue what I can but I just hate the smell of red bull!!

We go off for the drill

We go back to the cabin and I find some dry clothes and we find the sailaway party. There is a great atmosphere and I feel all happy again.

I spot Joh (Wilma-bride) and ask Gary if he will take a photo

I love this photo as it goes with the one I got last year with Joh at Raglan Road.

We get back to the cabin to find our beds turned down and Kirsty's sofa bed made up with chocolates on the pillows. There is a towel animal and most importantly we have a full ice bucket. (The ice bucket is filled up twice a day), just heaven.

We get ready to go to the show with a quick drink on the veranda first.
This is the life

Tonights show is Hercules the Musical and it is great and I stop crying (in between my coughing).

It is now time for our meal. The restaurant is parot cay with a tropical menu tonight. This was the bit I was not too keen on as we have to share a table. I had read that they try to pair families/couple up with similar groups.
We had been paired up with another family who's gran had the same terrible cough that I had! We did have something in common after all!

They were american and had not been to Disney much and could not believe how obsessed I was with disney!

In the middle of the meal we got up and danced a limbo dance. It was great fun.

They seemed a bit relieved when I said that we would not be there the next night as we were eating at Palo. I loved the cruise but not keen on sharing a table but understand it has to happen.

We took Kirsty to the teen club and this is practically the last we see of her until the cruise ends!!

Me and Mark take advantage of time alone and go off to the adults only night club. We catch the end of Mr & Mrs and stay for the 80s disco night. We bump into Joh again.

The drinks in here are strong. The discos empties out and we go back to the cabin. Kirsty is still not back, just as I start to worry she appears and tells us she had a great time.

Today has been fantastic and am so looking forward to the rest of the cruise.

I'm so pleased that you worked out what the verandah was for Sue :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I didn't realise that you were sailing with Joh too, that must've been fun

Shame about the Red Bull leaking over your clothes and did you have to share a table every night ? (except when you went to Palo). In all our Cruises we've been lucky to have a table to ourselves

Anyway a great start and I look forward to reading some more

Mandy :)

p.s. Did you enoy the Bahama Mamas ?

great report :) im glad you had a bahama mama ! lovely pic of you and Joh....not surprised you found her in an 80's disco tho :lmao:

Mandy

The bahama mama was lovely.

It is really good to know that you have not shared your table. It will be another reason to book another one.

I would love to do the med cruise if it comes back again.

Lovely picture of you and Joh, I know what you mean about sharing tables Susan, I dont mind in the least to be honest, but like you I thought they put "like familys" together, unfortunatley for us (Vicki and I) they put us with 2 married people on a convention, who wanted to talk bussiness all night and a honeymoon couple, I think they got the shortest straw of us all:) No teens for Vic and no single dads for me;) :rotfl2:

Great report Sue, I am really looking forward to cruisin sometime!:)

Lovely report Sue, very nice photo of you and Joh:)

Oooh this report is making me all excited for our cruise :)

Oh wow lovely report Sue. I sooooooo want to go on the cruise. We are waiting until the boys are old enough so they can go to the kids clubs if they want. :thumbsup2
