I Wake myself up coughing but do feel a bit better. Due to being ill with the flu I am not as nervous flying this year so every cloud has a silver lining.

We go straight past security as checked in last night. We get our two bottles of absolute vodka in duty free as usual and bottles of perfume and after shave as our usual tradition. We just have enough time to go for breakfast at the Wetherspoon pub. Mark is drinking early and I still feel a bit too ill to drink (well it is still early). Second day running we get awful service and I am a plate short!

The flight is on time and are ready to board.

We seem to be paying a lot for cattle class seats with Virgin as it is August:- £3,000 for our three seats and a car. Our accommodation is separate as is DVC.

The flight is good. I manage to watch films this year instead of nervously studying the map as in previous years. The first film is 28 weeks later which has me in tears at one stage and is very good. I look up to see Mark and Kirsty laughing at me. The next one is Hot Fuzz which is good but goes on a bit.

We arrive on time but for the first time in 8 trips Mark leaves a bit out of our green visa waiver form and we are sent to the back of the queue.

We go to pick up our car and as usual Mark comes back to say we have an up-grade

We get to Saratoga Springs and are told that there are no rooms close to Down town Disney and are advised to stay the first night at Carousel and move the next day to Congress Springs for a very reasonable $25.

We take our room which is the furthest away from everything and drive to Winn Dixie to pick up some supplies. Mark get Becks and red bull and I get diet coke for the duty free vodka. I even get some spicey Sushi!

We get ready to go out and take the long trek to Raglan Road for our first night at WDW. Almost immediately we see the Stringers, the Churchills and Susan Ellen. It is great to see Disers and we saw them here last October.

We enjoy a drink at the bar before eating

We do not have an ADR but get a table and manage to watch the Irish dancing while we eat.

I have the wonderful Goats Town for starters

My main course is mushroom burger which is equally as wonderful. Mark & Kirsty have the fish and chips. I feel much better and am managing to have a drink which is a great start to the holiday.

We take it easy back to Saratoga and stop at the Margarita bar. We order drinks and Mark buys a cigar and we sit and watch the world go by. It is great "to be back home". We take a nice walk back and sit on the stratigically placed rocking chairs

We manage to dodge the sprinkers on the way back to the room and cross a lovely bridge in the dark

Welcome home :thumbsup2 Glad you are feeling better - reckon the alcohol must have helped ;)

Great start Susan, really looking forward to reading more:thumbsup2

Am very pleased you didnt fly the day before as we did on the same flight and had an aborted take off, disembarking all to the terminal for nearly 4 hours and then we took off 6 hours late!! I think that would have made your flu even worse... so at least you had a good flight and hopefully from now on you feel much better.

all the best,
Prue

The first evening went well - hope you get the room you wanted tomorrow
