Mark as read....

This is a minor problem but I find it terribly aggravating. That is that if I spend a long time composing a response on a post or if I have to sign off due to outside situations, when I come back to the topics, they have all been treated as if I had read them all.

I know I can just look at the times and dates of the last post on the right hand side but it is a real pain to have to do so. Consequently, I have to either know that I can allot the required time to read, not only the one board I am on, but any other I might want to see on this site. It marks them as read even though I didn't visit them.

Is there a switch that I missed that makes them all automatically be marked or is it a site policy. I do occasionally use another site that is very similar to the look and design of this one, that does not do that to me.

I don't actually sign out of the site and I would like to know if there is anything I can do to prevent this from happening.

Since no one seems to know why...can you tell me if this happens to anyone else or just me?

Yes, it happens to me as well. I only get to read in snipets throughout the day so I can't really on the icons much. I couldn't keep up with everything anyway so it doesn't bother me too much. I find it easier to subscribe to just a few things and go through my email. I see though that you have been doing this a lot longer than I have and could probably give me some tips.

There is no way to combat it except to spend all day signing on and trying to keep up with new posts. I wish I had that kind of time.

In fairness...I have noticed in the last few days that it stays there longer then before. Maybe just a coincidence, but it is a good one.
