Hello! I wanted to give the 33rd Marine Corps Marathon its own thread and to get everyone PUMPED UP! :cool1: :dance3: :cheer2: about the upcoming race.

The race is coming up on Sunday, October 26 in Washington, D.C./Arlington, VA. I am staying at the Sheraton National in Arlington which touts that it is 1mile from the race start. I believe it is fully booked at this time.

According the the MCM website the race is only 60 days, 6 hours, 49 minutes from the start!

This will be my first MCM, my 4th Marathon overall (Delaware Marathon '06, WDW Marathon '07 & '08). I am hoping for a PR which would be one second faster than 4:41:03 (or more). I think I will be trained sufficiently to get a PR. Let's hope I stay healthy. :rolleyes1

OK, let's crank this puppy up and get psyched about the 33rd Annual Marine Corps Marathon! :cool1:  :dance3: :yay: :cheer2: :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

Who's with me? ( I know some of you... you can't hide :lmao: )

:grouphug:

Just noticed this thread-
I'm in too!
We are staying at the Marriott near the finish
I am so excited- it will be my first!

I'm in! I'm in! :thumbsup2

Thanks for starting this, Howard! Krista and I will be there (I'm running the race, she's spectating with Carter). We're staying with my sister and brother-in-law in Falls Church, VA. I'll be taking the metro into DC early Sunday morning to get to the start.

I was originally hoping for a PR in this race, but I managed to twist an ankle a few times over this summer and it set me back slightly. I should be in decent shape on Oct 26, but probably not PR shape (ie--I'll never be able to keep up with our speed demon Howard) That's ok. I'm just really excited to run this race!

So who else is in??

Steve

I'll be there - not for the marathon, but for the MCM 10K! (btw - Thanks for posting this thread, Howard, it reminded me that I needed to register).

My plan is to run the 10K, check out the finish festival (since I never made it over there after running the marathon last year), and then head back out to scream team along the course.

Hi everyone!

Steve and Groovy
, thanks for posting! I can't wait for this run to be in the history books. I want to PR this with a passion.

Cindy ~ I hope you'll make your presence known at the marathon in a scream team role or something similar. Good luck with the 10K! Is that before, during or after the Marathon?

I began training for the MCM when classes ended in late May (5/27) and I have (generally) been following my training plan closely. I also signed up for the Philadelphia Distance Run in September which happens to match the mileage (13.1) in my training scheduled for the MCM. SO.. I should be ready (despite taking a week off from running this week :rolleyes1 ). Not by choice mind you. I will get back to running tomorrow picking up the schedule where I left off..or close to it. I think tomorrow is supposed to be a LR. If I haven't run all week, I am not going to do a LR of 12 or 13 miles. I will do 7 or 8 and then do a LR on Labor Day.

Steve~ I know you are much faster and in better shape (and younger) than me. There is no way you'll have a problem keeping up with me at MCM. I think it'll be the other way around.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Howard

Howard - The 10K starts about 15 mintues after the marathon (although it started late last year) and the course is mostly the last miles of the marathon. The finish line is also the same - I'm looking forward to crossing it this year, hopefully feeling much better than I did crossing it last year after running my first marathon!

M'Lisse and I will be there too. I am signed up for the marathon, and M'Lisse is thinking about doing the 10K. We are staying at the Holiday Inn at Rosslyn Bridge.

Hi Denny! I am looking forward to seeing you and M'Lisse in D.C. for the race! :cool1:

According to the MCM website there are now 57 Days, 7 Hours and 12 Minutes to the start!!!

I hope we'll all be ready! I am training to be... trust meon this one. :thumbsup2

We'll have to consider getting together at the expo or something! Anyone have any suggestions? Carb loading the night before?

Let's chat this puppy up! :yay: :cheer2: :thumbsup2 :woohoo:

I will also be there.

I'm making this a daughter dad trip. She went to 07 Chicago Marathon with me and we are both hoping for better results in DC.

Jim~ Welcome to the FEW, THE PROUD, the WISH MCM Runners!!!

I hope I get a chance to meet you and your DD.

Train well and often.

Howard

My email confirmation came today and I just printed it out. I am getting excited about this one. I have to get throught the PDR on 8/21, then my sights will be totally set on a PR in D.C.

We would LOVE to meet up for the expo and/or dinner the night before the race. but I have no suggestions as I am not real familiar with the options.

Denny~ Then it must be dinner at the White House. Call ahead to George and tell him there will be 4 joining him. :lmao:

My BIB Number is: 18368

I just made a call to the White House, and told them that there would be 4 of us coming to "load" with George and Laura. Funny thing, within a few minutes, men in suits were knocking on my door ( or maybe that was knocking down my door.);)

I can't wait to eat on the fine china in the West Wing. :lmao:

We have 48 Days, 12 Hours and 17 Minutes until the start!

46 Days 5 Hours 50 Minutes... and Counting!

O-M-G!!!!! It's now 45 days!

I just signed up to run for the Alzheimer's Association as my charity. I am hoping this will give me the motivation and encouragement to finish.
