We'll be at Universal from 8/23-8/26. I'd like to try Margaritaville but I'm not sure which park we'll be at on any given day. Must I absolutely make a PS now or is it ok to make one in the morning on the day we decide to have dinner there? With all of the PS and planning I've had to do for WDW, I feel like being a bit more carefree at Universal. I know we have FOTL for the restaurants over there, but I don't want to wait an hour for the next table either. Any suggestions?

I'm like you Castillo Mom & wanted to "go with the flow" while we were at Universal! You know...like the commercials say..."surrender, surrender!" :p We were there last week & the night we decided to eat at Margaritaville, we went straight from the RPR around 5:00, it had been raining for at least an hour by that time & we were certain that most of the restaurants would be packed with people leaving the parks early because of the rain. When we walked up to the hostess I was alittle apprehensive after hearing the person in front of me walk back to their party saying "No change yet, still 2 hours"!! I flashed my handy dandy room key & asked her sheepishly how long of a wait it would be for a table of 4. Her response? 15 minutes!! WOW. Put my name on the list, then after finding out that we may not have a view of the volcano from the dining room, I went back & inquired about the best seats for the kids to see the eruption. She said that if I went around the outside & downstairs we could sit at the bar or at any of the high stooled tables in that area that were open right now! We went down & immediately found a seat, right next to the volcano. I think my experience may be rare though, as I've heard others say they've still had to wait an hour even with their room key. We loved Margaritaville & would probably wait if we had to in the future. Good food, fun atmosphere & we had a wonderful waiter who's girlfriend lives in Pittsburgh so we had quite a bit to talk about. I wish I knew if you could make a PS in the morning, I'm sure some of the regulars around here could help you more in that department with their advice. Enjoy your trip! :D

Thanks for your input GeminMom. I still going back and forth on this one. I suppose I could make more than one PS and then cancel one of them once we decide which one to go to.

To be honest if u really want to eat there make a ps in march even with room key it was up to 2 hr wait at night time
:jester:

We have had long waits/short waits with room keys. Lots of people have them just depends on the day and your luck.

Enjoy!

I've had good luck with my room keys. At HRC we walked up and flash the cards and she grabbed menus literally the same moment and took us to a table while a LINE of guest wrapped about the front steps. We where highly impressed. At JBM'ville i usually get 10 mintues to 15 but you know i love it. I love the chairs and having a PRE dinner drink from the walk up window. It's just fun to sit there and relax and people watch. Not to mention when you get a table the food and service have always been great. I say wing it we have never made a PS besides Mama Della's for new years eve at any resturant at universal. HAve a great trip.

Thanks. You will LOVE M'ville. I love the vocano nachos and the corn/crab soup. YUM! Diets are OFF LIMITS on vacation for me. :)
