Anyone know why they are only doing Mardi Gras on Fri. and Sat. in March. I know we went mid march last yr on a Monday and they had the Mardi Gras celebration going on. This yr. I had planned to go on a Sunday but there won't be anything going on.
Anyone hear anything different???
My guess would be that they are trying to avoid what I believe was probably a guest service nightmare last year. What they did last year was announce that the parades would be held nightly, with concerts on Fri. and Sat. nights. THEN, they decided to change that and had the parades only on Friday and Sat. until March 15th, and THEN went nightly with them. There was so much confusion, and to take away from guests is never good. (ie, people planned on it being nightly and made their vacation plans accordingly - dinner reservations, which parks to visit when, etc.)
My guess is they are playing it safe and if they ADD parades nightly, sooner than April, then they look great. MUCH better than taking away. If the crowds warrant it (and I'm sure they most likely will during Spring Break) I'm sure they'll adjust the schedule to accomodate the crowds.
One major difference between last year and this though is that Easter was March 31st last year, so coupled with the major spring break crowds, it made the crowds in March even heavier. This year, Easter isn't until April 20th. By themselves, both Spring Break AND Easter are busy times, but put them together, and it's mayhem at the parks!
If I was betting, I'd say they'll end up adding nightly parades during spring break...
