I've never done MG concerts before, but we will be down there for the Kelly Clarkson one this year. How early would one need to line up to get a reasonbly good seat (I am a concert snob, much to my chagrin, so I'm thinking first half-dozen "rows" of people close?)

We were originally going to do a one-day ticket, then the three-day from Costco, then the after-5 and now I'm thinking the after-5 will have us waaayyy back in the line based on how crowded her last show at US was. Was that a unique show and this one should be less crowded, or will this one be nuts, too?

I'd really like to ride a couple of things while there for the day, but since we're essentially traveling *for* the show I guess it's more important.

For Kelly Clarkson you will need to be in place no later than 6pm...probably earlier than that. It's going to be a huge crowd that night.

6PM I can handle! I was reading reports from last time and I was like, uh, I don't think I can line up by park opening lol. Our flight doesn't even arrive until 9:30, we have to take ME to Pop and then shuttle to US...

I would recommend being there around 5pm and see how the crowd looks. If it starts to fill up, then stake out a spot but if not, you can do other things and come back.

My mom was waiting in line around 3-4 pm for Chicago and Frankie Valli a couple of years ago for an 8:30 concert,crazy but even crazier is she was not alone and once it got to around 5 pm the line to be let in really started getting full.

The Kelly Clarkson concert is a different animal from the rest, at least it was last year. They had a separate admission line set up all afternoon just to get into the concert area. With an after 5 ticket, expect to be watching from the Grammercy park area, at best. Normally I'd say show up by 6 and you'd be fine, but for this one, I'd say early afternoon; probably noon to get as close as you want to get.

Just thought I would share some parade pictures I took last night. The B-52s were great as always...the wind was whipping and the temps were dropping. But...it was a great time!

I'm going back this weekend for Kelly Clarkson and will take more pictures of the parade...hopefully with fewer hands and heads (I deleted several good shots but someone's hand and/or head got in the shot).

Thanks Jason. I liked the new floats too but thought the parade was shorter than last year. Maybe it was my imagination.

Now that you mention it, I don't recall seeing the cake girls and the crawfish/kitchen float (has been in every year).

Im confused about their hours. I was thinking of going tomorrow since I do like the Goo Goo Dolls. But the web site says the park closes at 8:00. Yet the parade is at 8:00 and the concert is at 8:30.

Can someone fill me in on how everything works? I haven't been to a Mardi Gras since Kiss was there like 13 years ago lol
